  1. As a skydiver with monocular vision for the past 16 years I can't emphasis the importance of this enough. I always wear polycarbonate lenses on my glasses and goggles too (prescription). I also avoid the temptation of Lasix surgery, as nice as it might be. Risk of a botched procedure on my one remaining eye....plus losing the protection that glasses afford isn't worth the risk. And yes, since losing my left eye I've hit that side repeatedly (and occasionally my right side too) when not judging (or seeing) an object correctly the first time (non-skydiving related). Ditto. To those,...."walk" a mile in our shoes and perhaps then you'll have a small glimpse. I still applaud billvon for taking the time one day at the DZ to do so himself. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. Try a PM instead. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. Interesting. Not that this "test" is all encompassing at all... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. Yeah, I saw that but thought, with your jump numbers, it would be like beating a dead horse if I spoke out on something SO obvious. ltdiver (that's LTDIVER to you, sir) Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. Please tell me that you have more than just the velcro strap holding your video camera in that base box. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. Wow. Thanks for sharing. Brought tears to my eyes when his son said, "He never landed....he's still up there where he loves". (paraphrased). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. That's kinda how this whole idea got started. Art imitates Life imitates Art. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. For those who'd like a longer read: Necrotizing Fasciitis Nasty stuff! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. Hey! The bytch in boobies!
  10. As long as we don't try to film tandem-style, huh? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. Me 4. I hate having to deal with touch screens. As for which model to buy. Take your pick. Whichever size and features you want. I'm sure there will be another new model coming on-line next month to choose from. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  12. I was at a friend's house. My parents were on vacation. That was nice, as we didn't have a tv at the time anyway. Saw the landing on a small b&w. Other things I remember about that day. A swing set. Bushes with those round red berries that you'd shoot through straws at each other. Geeze, I was only 5! Give me a break! :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. Bet if you did a search on this site you'd find alot of info.
  14. And if you do, will the cameras be set up parallel or parallax? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. See the face? I guess I have more luck in the step sharing department and not getting my foot stepped on. Perhaps it's my feet not being as big as some cameraflyers....or perhaps I'm a girl and the rear-rear floater actually looking before stepping out. They don't want to hurt my poor little tootsies! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. The last few years I've competed it was your U.S. driver's license that had to be shown during registration. Besides, if a team has a foreigner in its ranks pretty much everyone knows about it. This is a small community and word gets around. People better play straight or they'll get a untrustworthy reputation which will tarnish they're ability to compete again. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. Yeah, I understand you're reasoning....but I -thought- you -liked- tracking uphill....hanging on with one hand....(if your wind is blocked by the multiple floaters). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  18. Interesting results so far. 140 yes:40 no. My opinion is that the packer should be paid. The rig was jumpable and the skydiver should have checked his rig on the ground before boarding. As the saying goes, "Trust, but verify". At our DZ our packers are -very- busy and it's common practice for us to set our own brakes, unstow the slider, and cock the pc. Our packers are also good enough to catch something that might be amiss too. The packer I use is a rigger and has actually caught a few repairs that needed to be done...something that hadn't caught my eye (yet). I have a great respect for packers and know that they realize their reputation is on the line everytime they send one of their pack jobs into the sky. Often they watch to see the openings of their pack jobs (when they have time). They are also open to feedback if something needs to be tweeked. For instance...I have a 2 Spectre canopies (loaded a 1:1.45). For me (a cameraflyer) these particular canopies open too fast! My packer adjusts and gives me such nice snively openings that I learned from him how to adjust my own pack jobs. And it works. If you use a packer (and I only do on training days), sit down and chat with him/her. You might learn alot! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  19. That was not the only reason. The most important was that with the heavier (digital) camera mounted in front, the pull from that side was too great for my neck. It actually HURT! So, I had to change to a more balanced setting. My top mount did that for me. Thanks to quade for letting my try his camera helmet on to feel the difference first. Nope. And thanks for the late night laugh. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  20. When sharing a little-bitty camera step with a rear floater I tend to put my foot angling against the back edge of the step (like _/) and the floater angling off the front edge (like \_ ). That way nobody gets stepped on and nobody is trapped. No foot is on the exact top of the step. I can push back, they can have the leverage to keep their push forward and at the door. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  21. On my first camera helmet I had the still camera mounted inverted in front. I used a thumb screw and a couple of 'bungies'. This worked well if you weren't on a quick turn around for students. I then switched to a Stroboframe and it worked great as well, but alot quicker for dismounts and remounts to the helmet. Either way was very secure. No problems. Switched to a top mount (vs front mount) for my still camera for several reasons years later....one being that my new digital still camera couldn't invert the images back 180 degrees for viewing on the tv screen. I had to use a computer to rotate them around....wasn't convenient to show the customer on a quick one-step shot. (the camera would only rotate the image 90 degrees either right or left...so we were left viewing the images upside down with my old helmet set-up). Hope this helps, ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  22. It's "Guest competitors and", not 'or'. You're a guest, no matter how you slice it. Sorry. Read section "D" again. Thanks quade for posting the Comp. Manual for chachi. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  23. Where do you and your daughter live? Some places in this world are better suited for static line due to their weather concerns. Others not. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  24. Perhaps he returned, after being asked to leave on Saturday? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  25. Now where did you get that load of kark......? Who says it stall prone. In fact the stall speed of the bird is well lower than a Twin Otter, the tail is no lower than a Caravan, and it's a monster climber.
