  1. Do as you feel is the safest for both you and others around you. Using rear risers allows your canopy to be in 1/2 flight (thus slower) and avoid close canopies with more control. Unstowing toggles puts your canopy in full flight (faster forward speed) and less time to avoid a collision course. Again, with a larger canopy this is not as evident, however if this 'unstowing toggles' scenario is practiced by those with smaller canopies it is a riskier move. Most evident with 100+ ways we have at larger DZ's, but as a cameraflyer I've had to avoid others who pulled in my space with just a 4-way. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. On a 210 canopy, this toggle grabbing might work just fine. However, on a smaller canopy if you grab for the toggels -on opening- you just might cause your canopy to malfunction. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  5. Just my luck. With the spanish speaking patients I treat at the hospital I've learned to count just up to 14. Pretty frikken funny! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. We might remember that it was FL who rebelled and bellyached so much after the paper ballot chads et al and called for computers to be the answer to their (our) problem. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. Loads just fine here with my Mac on DSL. Nice spot of advertising for yourself, 'eh? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. Uh, I believe 6 was already done a long time ago. Something about "Return of the Jedi".... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. Upon first glance I thought the road the truck crashed on was "Nestlerode" and that it must be the entrance road to the Nestle factory! And on the cream filling mess....just let a bunch of skydivers at it!! Oh, the stories that could come out of -that- one!! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. I was told a sprain. If its a walking cast, I dont think that any bones would be broken; at worst torn ligaments. Thems are not good still.... Thought to be a sprain before she consented to have it x-rayed. Now she knows she fractured her fibula. Since that bone really isn't a weight bearing bone she's allowed to weight bear with a walking cast on. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  12. Sorry, Lori, but "Camel-Toe Elvis" is a repost from at least five years ago. . Yeah, like most folks here scroll back 5 years to look for something like that... Think the statute of limitations has expired... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. I know it's after the 31st. However, there might be those after holiday sales you want to avoid for next year. Ewwwww!!!!! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  14. Was watching episode IV just last night. Hope III is better than I and II. The fact that they're building on each other give it an epic feel that rounds out the story at least.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  17. I can't believe I'm about to say this But I agree with Remi. How can Andi looking so cute be blackmail material? Yeah, I wondered the same thing when I read his post. Maybe it's a skysurfing inside joke? ;^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  18. Dang. Climbing must be in the air. I have a co-worker who just started where I work. She's an avid rock climber. Now, she's agreed to go skydiving and I've reciprocated with joining her where she climbs. Looks like we'll both have new stories to tell soon. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  22. Two reasons. 1) camera helmets and cameras being lighter and more common is a fairly new addition to our sport. It used to be only the strong necked and innovative carved this discipline into their resume. 2) perhaps we've been successful in protecting the newbies from getting in over their head at the start of this venture. I hope so. And I hope they learn from those who have gone before them that this gig can rear up and bite you in the butt in a mere fraction of a second. Learn, be prepared, be safe. That can be said for all new endeavors. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  23. Personally, I would advise you going the other way around. Get a still camera, learn how to use it, THEN start jumping with it, learn how to use it in the air, and THEN think about adding a video camera. FWIW mh Where as I differ from you and agree with the original poster. I feel that putting a video camera on your head is less distracting than a still camera. You put the video camera on and still learn to fly it with your body skills already obtained prior. There is no thinking of "I got to get this shot", as with a still camera. The video camera just runs on its own. No clicking with a tongue switch at just the right moment to 'get the shot'. My advice....get the video camera. Perfect -that- skill. Then, and only then add the distraction of a still camera. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  24. You could do like me and cook a nice dinner, open some wine, and sit back and enjoy the show. Not watching FOX right now....switching between channels and am on NBC right now. However, once the 2nd glass of Shiraz is down the swooshing sound at FOX might be quite amusing. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
