  1. That's LTdiver. And yes, the older Sigma lenses cause this problem with the newer Canon cameras. This has been discussed alot here. Someone (can't remember who) discovered that he could send his older Sigma lens back to the manufacturer and get it updated so it -would- be compatible. Something else to consider if you want to keep your lens operational. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. Rather a long read but quite interesting. "IN DEFENCE OF ANIMALS" delves into answering your question. Dogs, Pigs, Sheep....(oh, Clay!!) In the eyes of Waters, you are either a dog, pig or a sheep. Dogs are the crafty cutthroats who travel in groups, in a pecking order, each one trying to screw the other over to achieve success. Pigs are the overbearing dictators who have a great fear for what they don't understand, but claim to know what is best for everyone. They impose this on the sheep, who are the meek and obediant subserviants to the world. They realize what has become of them and revolt, but are eventually put back in their place and taken advantage of again. It's human nature in a graphic display of our true inner selves, represented in animal form. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. Right! I thought he was going to start break dancing the more he wound up! Hats off to a new discovered talent. :^) For those who leave a Nationals competition when the end of the day jumping concludes, they're really missing alot of the character of the games! It's the WHOLE experience. From sunrise to the wee hours of the morning. Swapping stories with people from across the country and making friends. Heck, I even met a woman from Virginia who was on the very first female 8-way ever! She traveled to Perris -just- to help award the USPA Lifetime Achievement Award to our own dear Al Kruger! That presentation was awesome!! Never knew 1/2 the things they showed on the big screen about that man. Congratulations Al!!! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. Very true. I did a research paper on this very subject for my unversity speech class. Lifers cost less than those on Death Row. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. Thanks for the info. Great to hear that the rumors aren't true! Good luck with the rebuilding. Keep us updated with news and pictures.
  6. Other than O.B. taking over the dance floor to applause by all?!
  7. http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041009/NEWS/410090336/1021 This article only mentions hurricane Charley. Rumor has it here at Nationals that Lake Wales sustained too much damage in the last hurricane and will no longer re-open. Sorry if this has already been covered recently, but we'd like to know what the real current story is from anyone there locally. Thanks. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  9. 12 hours later and you should be here NOW! The DJ's spinning and the bar is CROWDED!! MIke Muscat is up to his usual tricks and the week's Nationals videos are playing on the big screen. Man, this is the life! Beautiful people after their fun in the air this week. What a party's going down right now!! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  12. So, if the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body... And if the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body... Then.... Are right handed people more analytical? And the left handed people more creative? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. Reminds me of one of my childhood favorite rides at Disneyland. Autopia! Man, remember when all you wanted to do was be able to take that little car off the track and drive it home to play with!! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  14. I had a chance to sit down and have a lengthly chat with Larry Bagley this afternoon. He is this year's Nat's USPA controller for this event. He informed me that when Alan competed at the World Air Games (World Cup for that year as well) as a guest in 2002 the IPC manual did -not- include those competitions in it's writing in exclusion towards our U.S. Nationals. Alan was in the clear in his interpretation. What Alan was informed of by his Israeli teammates -was- true. However, in this year's IPC manual (2004) the rule had been changed and the World Cup was listed. This change was not known by Alan and he, in good faith, registered as a non-guest team member. Had he known, or been informed of the change, he would have readily changed his status. No problem. As it was, the person who had discovered the change went to the judges first, and not Alan. Thus the trickle down effect and we have the story that people like to twist around. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. Yeah, my team and I talked a bit about this just tonight during our own personal closing ceremonies in our team room. For starters, we just might get together this weekend and fun jump (with me coming down to actually touch them for a change!? ) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  17. Waiting for bytch here at Perris now....
  18. The roar of the Otters, the roll of the creepers, the calls from Dan. Overall the buzz of the DZ at our U.S. Nationals today! Sitting here on the couch and soaking it all it. 8-waY is working its way through Round 5 right now... Its almost 3:00 and all it well. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  19. Kallend, my friend. We all understand your viewpoint, and personally I agree that there is no excuse for rule breaking. Competitors should always know the rules and adhere to them. Here is the list of events as was known to me -just- yesterday. Like Paul said earlier in this thread, I had asked my team early in the season if they were all qualified for a medal in this year's Nat's. You see, 3 of the 4 were foreign born. One from Thailand. One from Canada. One from Israel. They are now all U.S. citizens and have been for quite some time. They qualified for competing on a U.S. team. That was as far as the discussion went. What came up yesterday... In 2001, Alan competed for Israel at the World Meet. Then at last year's U.S. Nationals competed as a guest team, as per the 3 year USPA rules. No problem. In 2002, Alan was invited to again compete for Israel at the World Air Games. He notified them that his FAI license had expired and he couldn't. They insisted that he could, per their rules. 25% of a team could be a guest competitor. He checked with the judges there and was able to register with the Israeli team with his USPA membership not an FAI license, a thus make this Israel team ineligible for a World Cup medal. They were o.k. with that. They wanted Alan as their teammate anyway. They then assured him that this would -not- interfere with his U.S. Nationals in 2004. He accepted the invitation and competed. When the issue was reported to the judging panel here, at -this- Nationals yesterday, Alan explained his situation. He was under the impression that he had been a guest and this did not preclude his entry into 2004's Nat's. Unfortunately, the panel here did not accept his explanation and decided to make an example out of the situation. Not only bumping our team to guest, but then deciding to disqualify us. As I said before, we were very happy to be demoted to guest team and keep jumping after we all learned the story of what had transpired. Unfortunately they didn't agree. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  20. I believe -everyone- at our U.S. Nationals is having more than one tonight. 4-way is done and there's alot of celebrating happening... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  21. Thank you so much for your kind and supportive words, Mar and b^2. Today has been a very hard day since the very unexpected turn of events. We filed a protest with the chief judge, controller, and meet director but it was turned down. We were happy to compete as a guest team after learning the error, but they denied this. It was a great year and I'd be on a team with these guys in an instant again. You'll never find a more caring, giving, and hard working team anywhere like this one, IMHO. This is, by far, the best team I've ever had the pleasure of training a season with. oh, and btw, my team decided to fun jump the rest of the dives we weren't able to have the judges judge and had them viewed by a world competitor. We ended the 'meet' with a 15.1 average
  22. Just a simple question... Why put such a nice camera on an unstable surface? You have 400 camera jumps....why not get a real camera helmet like a FTP or some such that is stable as a rock for a heavy set-up? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  23. Let us know what you learn after you contact Bonehead. It -is- a hard yank/pull to get the cotter pin out. I'm glad for that, 'cause I've had a few hardish openings and am sure glad that the cutaway system didn't pop as if it were a soft pull scenario for it to release. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
