I agree. I had like 6 jumps when a chick i know found out, told my sister, who told my parents. man i got some angry phone calls that night. I would go with what someone else said, tell em you found a really cool club at school, great way to relieve stress, etc. then break it to em your skydiving. MB 3528, RB 1182

i know you are just joking, but just fyi, i think the camera/protrack batteries are a different type of battery then standard AAs, AAAs, Ds, etc. they are also a different voltage. i think thats why they have to use those weird types. unless of course its all a big conspiracy between the electronics people and the battery people, just like the hot dog/hot dog buns conspiracy. also, if you looking for cheap gear, then don't be trying to get any specific colors. in fact, i got my gear cheaper because it had some pink on it, and the guy selling it knew that less guys want pink on their rigs and so he sold it for less. MB 3528, RB 1182

i had this problem on my old javelin. my rigger and i looked at it and found the problem was the hard peice of plastic in the cover was shaped into a curve from wear. So we just bent it back the opposite way and its been staying tucked in. MB 3528, RB 1182

I think its for jumpers with a certain amount of jumps. at the very least, i imagine they would want you to be licensed before doing an intentional cutaway, and at my DZ i think you have to have over 100 jumps to do it. not sure how many jumps are required at this particular event. anyways the point is that 2000 feet is fine for experienced jumpers. you all actually buy special jumping shoes? whats wrong with wearing normal tennis shoes that you wore all week? its not like skydiving is all that hard on shoes... walking to the plane, and 5 seconds of landing. MB 3528, RB 1182

well, I ain't jumping. but next weekend looks like a go. MB 3528, RB 1182

what a strange question... well, have you ever thought about driving your car off a bridge to see what it felt like and to see if your seat belt would work? same logic. MB 3528, RB 1182

I think that part of it might be that a normal whuffo has no idea how hard skydiving is. they look at headdown for instance and go "how hard is that? you just jump out upside down right?" where as with moto or bike stuff, since everyone has ridden a bike they know it would be pretty difficult to do a flip, and so its interesting and exciting to watch others do it. basically, my point is that whuffos just don't understand or comprehend skydiving, so it holds no interest to them. hey man, big girls need loving too... but they gotta pay! -from family guy But seriously, big girls are great. They give you warmth in the winter, and shade in the summer. (disclaimer: I am just joking around. please no flaming if you didn't like the joke) MB 3528, RB 1182

Learning here and learning at the real DZ...
bch7773 replied to Liemberg's topic in Safety and Training
what about the option: "A lot of people at my DZ use dz.com" ? this website has taught me a bunch of stuff that I wouldn't have learned about at the DZ, simply because we don't have gear or safety/training discussion groups at the DZ. MB 3528, RB 1182 -
How important is looking cool in my gear.
bch7773 replied to Bosveld's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have both a canopy and a container that have some pink on em. What was important was that it fit, it was cheap, and it was in good condition. btw pink is definitely not my favorite color. MB 3528, RB 1182 -
i got one the other day, coolWWWsearch... not even adaware OR spybot search and destroy could kill it. what a pain in the ass that was. MB 3528, RB 1182

it looks like the seller found the packing card and typed up the stuff he found there. maybe someone could convince him to send the seriel numbers? MB 3528, RB 1182

one 35+ mph wind day, we discovered that the wind was blowing straight down the runway... so we tied an old square parachute to a creeper and would take turns riding it down the runway. pretty fun. oh and since it was safety day we would wear a student protec as we did it. MB 3528, RB 1182
