yeah we need a skydiver in office. maybe force some subsidies for jump tickets.... or lower the tax on avgas. or a spot for jump ticket deductions on income tax MB 3528, RB 1182

is that what this country has come to? a felony weapons charge on a 15 year old boy for a rubber band gun? MB 3528, RB 1182

if you don't have much money, learn with static line... its much cheaper. and like everyone said, get your A license. unless you want to do just solos or just jump with coaches (which costs mucho $$$ at most dropzones). MB 3528, RB 1182

bwahahahhaha. now i see it. i bet all the guys are going to want to be behind you on those sit trains thats a nice rig, it looks so new and shiny. go jump that stuff! MB 3528, RB 1182

I've jumped without helmet, jumpsuits, audibles. I've also jumped with AAD off and the rsl disconnected. i've even done a couple s/l's without goggles. Only thing i haven't jumped without is a visual altimeter, and a parachute . the only REALLY necessary gear is the parachute. also an altimeter of some type is nice, i doubt even the highly experienced jumpers can tell the difference between 2k and 2.5k. (for when to stop battling those line twists and cutaway) MB 3528, RB 1182

Juries awarding large cash settlements have paved the way for frivolous lawsuits. Fix the jury problem and the frivolous lawsuits will follow. true but how do we "fix" juries? put a cap on punitive damages? the judge has to approve the damages before it becomes legal? good luck getting those passed... the lawyers winning millions of dollars off frivolous lawsuits will make sure those kind of laws never pass. I totally agree with you here. Although i was against the iraq war, now that we are there, we need to get the job done. if we pull out without installing a stable democratic government, then we spent billions of dollars and hundreds of lives in vain. MB 3528, RB 1182

I say they are fine at the DZ, with one huge suggestion.... either don't let em into the packing area, or make sure they understand not to step over parachutes or lines on the ground. thats my only problem with kids on the DZ is if they start tripping over lines while i'm packing. apart from that, we have jumpers with kids at my dz and they are no problem and actually a lot of fun. although they are problably gonna pick up some bad words if they hear people packing new zp or biff a landing. Ok i saw your cheeseburger analogy. but its not really true in this case. most people agree that aznar was ahead before the bombings, or at least he had about 50% in the polls. After the bombings, he suddenly loses very very badly. It was an upset, Caused by the bombings. a better analogy would be: "Gee, I can't decide what to eat... a cheeseburger or a sandwhich. Boy what a tough choice, both look tasty." An AQ guy runs in, kicks you in the shins, and shouts "Eat the cheeseburger, or ill kick you some more" "Wow, i suddenly decided that the sandwhich isn't good at all. That cheeseburger suddenly looks tasty. I'll have the cheeseburger, but it wasn't because of that AQ guy... i uhhh wanted the cheeseburger all along, but didn't say so." MB 3528, RB 1182

I think the first one will work well. my suit looks almost exactly like that, but without the white. i've never had a problem with being hot from the black suit. and i think your gripper colors on the first one is fine. mine are dark blue on a black jumpsuit and no one has ever complained they can't find them during a skydive. make sure to post pics of it (with you in it) once you get it... I think he actually built a gamma radiation gun. its a pretty interesting read on how he did it... but im not sure it would be useful for power generation MB 3528, RB 1182

I would say try the little automotive cans of paint for scratches and nicks. they like 3 bucks at walmart or automotive stores. worst case scenaro, it flakes off and you just try another paint or go for the stickers. im not sure if sanding is really a good option for if hes just got a few scratches to fill... seems like overkill. I know a lot of the spanish people didn't want to be in the Iraq war. But suddenly after the bombings, nearly all of them claimed they wanted out because they had never agreed with it before. It was only AFTER the bombings that the hugely massive protests sprung up. To the rest of the world, and the terrorists, it looks like the spanish people decided they didn't want the war only AFTER the bombings. To the average person it looks like the terrorists scared spain into leaving iraq. this may or may not be true, but it looks like the terrorists won a victory. MB 3528, RB 1182

I think theres already been a post about this... i think the general concensus is that he probably did a tandem or two. MB 3528, RB 1182

ask them what they do with beer thats coming close to the "sell by" date. if they just throw it out, maybe drop it off at the nearest dz. MB 3528, RB 1182

Only got to jump twice today, due to bad winds. We got 3 loads, but once the winds started pushing 30 mph sustained and 40 mph gusts, we put away the plane. MB 3528, RB 1182

I second the motion. it is passed. show us pics of the rig (with you in it ) MB 3528, RB 1182

ok i looked up the BMI thing online, and a 5'6" 130 pound person has a BMI of 21... perfectly fine. A 5'9" 130 pound person is 19.2... still within the normal range. the only thing i don't like about BMI is its apparently the same for both men and women? skymamas formula appears to be correct. and to answer the original question... single. gee who would think that an engineering student would be single? you may have a minor concussion, or you coulda just whacked your head. i don't know what constitutes the level 1 concussions. the minor concussions aren't a big deal, just take it easy for the rest of the day. MB 3528, RB 1182

we had something similar happen at my high school. me and a friend told a couple girls about we had caught some guy jerking off in the school bathroom (we made it up spur of the moment as a joke, just as shock humor). instead, they believed it and told other people. Boy was that guy pissed at us when people started writing in his yearbook: "i know what you did in the bathroom" MB 3528, RB 1182

Do you take care of your rigger?
bch7773 replied to karenmeal's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I talked to my rigger recently about this, and he said that most of the experienced jumpers pay him a bottle. He did say that most students or novices didn't buy him a bottle. I guess its because they don't know him, or care, or even know about the tradition. Heres a question... are people on student status exempt from the bottle rule? I know at most places, students are exempted from beer rules, but bottle rule seems more important. MB 3528, RB 1182 -
have you seen "Jay and Silent Bob Strikes back"? theres an easy way to hitchhike long distances.... you just gotta know the "Rule of the road" MB 3528, RB 1182

you know, if you took the greenies with you, the rest of us could have one hell of a postwhore party on here and trash up the place. have fun MB 3528, RB 1182
