  1. Nice try to dodge the question. If you think the States should be the major power, why do you think the Federal Government should pay for healthcare? BTW you know the Democratic Gov of TN, just dropped most of the TennCare coverage right? You might read to the back of the history book that they TRIED to seperate, but they did not in the end...See FL is still part of the United States. Again instead of answering the question you try smoke and mirrors. ANd you ignored my quote from Franklin that stated they had to band together. You also avoided answering the question. 2. Hey stud, how about we re-read my last post huh? See I dont give a rats ass if people don't say it...I find it stupid that people sue over it however. Read what I wrote before you assume something. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  3. The writers of the Declaration knew they had to band together. So if you think that the Signers of the Declaration wanted separate Governments....How do you feel about trying to make the Federal Government pay for Healthcare? Would that not be the States job? It was not very well divided if it didn't stay that way. Semantics. It tried to divide, but it didn't. I find it funny that people read things into the Constitution (1st amendment says nothing about division of Church and State), but miss other parts (Such as the right to bear arms). To some I am sure it is just a matter of interpretation. I would be all for "Under God" being removed. Original Pledge: 'I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.'-Francis Bellamy, August 1892 BTW from the guy who wrote the Pledge: What follows is Bellamy's own account of some of the thoughts that went through his mind in August, 1892, as he picked the words of his Pledge: It began as an intensive communing with salient points of our national history, from the Declaration of Independence onwards; with the makings of the Constitution...with the meaning of the Civil War; with the aspiration of the people... The true reason for allegiance to the Flag is the 'republic for which it stands.' ...And what does that vast thing, the Republic mean? It is the concise political word for the Nation - the One Nation which the Civil War was fought to prove. To make that One Nation idea clear, we must specify that it is indivisible, as Webster and Lincoln used to repeat in their great speeches. And its future? Just here arose the temptation of the historic slogan of the French Revolution which meant so much to Jefferson and his friends, 'Liberty, equality, fraternity.' No, that would be too fanciful, too many thousands of years off in realization. But we as a nation do stand square on the doctrine of liberty and justice for all... I'd be all for scraping the whole thing and saying the Preamble to the Constitution: We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. 4. Allegience and worship are two different things. They can both be thought of the same way if you wish, but they are not the same thing. It is still a collection under one main body. The UNITED STATES of America. I could see a problem for some people to say this....So don't say it. Hell, I don't think it should be in there. But I don't care really. It also has been brought back together. That is proof it is indivisible. Untrue or not it is still a good goal. You aim for it, try for it, work for it. Not just assume it will never happen and accept defeat. It amazes me how some folks don't resect the country. It amazes me even more how some don't respect the people who allow them not to say the pledge. The whole issue is silly, but its a bunch of liberal busy bodies making an issue out of it. Don't want to say it? Cool with me. Why try and sue people over it? Geeze folks. When I stand I think about all of the men and women that fought and died for this country. I may not agree with everything the Government does, but I pay my respect to those that gave me the freedoms I enjoy. 8. Get a modern gun. Black powder is cool, but I know folks with them and the hassle of them means that they don't get used much. They get brought out really only when someone wants to see it...It is not an everyday plinker. Kinda like a Motorcycle is not the best everyday transportation in most cases. Many have said a 22 is a good choice. I agree. They are cheap and just fun to shoot. If I could only have one gun it would be a .357 revolver. I would shoot .38 in it, but every once ina while I could also shoot .357. I think its close to the perfect weapon. 12. The rest of the world is already jumping the US's ass over prisoner abuse. If the US really acted like a terrorist it would be a media field day for the rest of the world. And SOME countries are basing the insurgents for the tactics they use....However it is expected from them, so we hear more about the US's fuckups than anything else since eveyone expects more from the US. We try to play by the rules, they don't care. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

  17. I think that is not 100 true. An AAD will fire higher than it should if you rotate from belly to earth to head down, or feet first (think standing up due ot deployment) due to the change in air pressure. If you are head down from two grand it should fire at the same altitude. Some think that they fire lower if you are head down...Kinda. You are moving much faster, so it will try and fire at the same time, but your increased airspeed will cause the opening to be lower than plan. 18. A student that was having problems was sent to me to get some tunnel. In 15 seconds I had her turns fixed. In 15 mins of tunnel with me she fixed a problem she was having and learned everything except the flips and rolls she needed to pass the program she was in. Read her own words: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1343580#1343580 The tunnel works very well. For the cost of a rejump you can get 10-15 mins. Thats like 10-15 jumps of flying time. If I had my way, the program I would use would be: 1. A Tandem to see if the person really wanted to learn. 2. 10-15 min of tunnel to teach all the basics of body flight. 3. One AFF jump with two JM's. 4. The remainder of tasks completed with one JM and some coach jumps. 5. 5-10 hop n pops to work only on canopy control spotting and packing. 6. 10-15 more min of tunnel. 7. A freefall test of skills. 19. Still talk to your local bank. I am sure there is something like that over there. At any rate invest in your own future. Even if it is just tiny amounts of money it helps. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  20. I never said I would by a Vigil over a CYPRES2. I only said that I don't think it matters anymore. I would still probley get the CYPRES since I just have a better feel about it. The Vigil had problems...some of them serious enough that I thought they were dangerous. They had a few situations that were quite dangerous (In air fires), and they had a few that were just really annoying. All of these seem to be worked out. I am sure there are still problems with both units....CYPRES2 had some issues with it's display unit not working when it came out. In either case no matter what the company, I would not want to be the first on the block with a new toy. New equipment sometimes have hidden issues not seen in the testing. Some are really bad (Nova's) some are annoying but not dangerous. In either case I don't rush out to buy the new toys. I tend to wait two years of real world commercial use before I buy something. It is my life we are talking about. The Vigil still seems to have its problems, but none that would bother me anymore. I am glad I still have 4 years on my old gen 1 CYPRES. 21. Individual retirement accounts . There are two types: Traditional, and Roth. Traditional-Depending on your specified circumstances, contributions to a traditional IRA may be wholly or partially tax-deductible or entirely nondeductible. A nondeductible IRA contribution is permitted regardless of income. Deductibility of your contribution depends on your AGI, and whether you or your spouse, or both, are eligible to participate in an employer-sponsored retirement plan. Contributions are not permitted after you reach age 70 1/2 , and minimum distributions must begin at that age. Two special situations apply to married couples filing jointly. First, if one spouse's employer offers a retirement plan and the other does not, the spouse that is not covered may make a deductible contribution to a traditional IRA if their combined adjusted gross income does not exceed $150,000. Deductibility is phased out between $150,000 and $160,000. Second, a spouse who does not work outside the home can still qualify for a full $2,000 IRA contribution, as long as the total of the two spouses' IRA contribution does not exceed the lesser of the earned income of the employed spouse or $4,000. Roth-Contributions are not tax-deductible. Money in the IRA grows tax-deferred and all the money distributed is exempt from federal income taxes if you hold the account for at least five years and if you are at least 59 1/2 at the time of distribution or you die or become disabled. Contributions may continue after age 70 1/2, and no minimum distributions are required during the account holder's lifetime. Most tax experts advise people to carefully consider the advantages and disadvantages of a Roth IRA Boil it down to Traditional is most times pre tax and you pay taxes on it when you withdraw it. Roth is after tax but the money grows tax free. Any bank can set you up with one and they normally require a min monthly contribution. They can be invested into a bunch of ways with various degrees of risk from "T" bills to volatile international stocks. Talk to your local bank. BTW this is for the US...If you are someplace else.....I can't help. Anyone? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  22. Yes you should be worried you don't have a pension. An IRA would be a GREAT idea. Some can be started with less than 100 a mth. Any amount is a good idea. Me? 32yo I have a pension with my company (Vested with 14 years). A 401k (since I was 21. 15% going in right now...Avg was 10%) 5% I buy stocks with on a drip plan. I don't have all the toys I want, or do all the things I want...But I have no CC debt and am not selling my future to play now.
