  1. How much did you pay for it? And what other cars were you looking at if you went normal vehical? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  2. So far no one Personally has used one. Tony has and thats kinda close. We have a few "I know a guy" stories. I would venture to say that outside of CRW there is not much a use for one. And that most problems could be fixed another way. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  3. Wrong answer. Your first post in this thread was Do you need me to provide a link to it? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1440557#1440557 Then only after I responded to you saying that it is your pure hatred about Bush that makes you care, and not the issue...THEN you you bitch more about Bush using Moore as your reference. You STILL miss the point that the President does not have to be in the Oval Office to run the country. It is clear you have no idea about how the President does his job. Then you bitch about how the little guy has to shut down. Ignoring how much money is going to be brought into the city. Your hatred for Bush blinds you to everything else. It's not even fun to debate someone so blinded by hate. So I am not going to anymore. Here is a little idea for you. When the rest of the country is partying to celebrate the President swearing in...Hold your own little party. You can sit around and slam Bush all night, just don't bother to invite me. 4. Congress OK'ed it. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  5. So now you claim to defend the little guy? Why did you not start that way? No you started with Your hatred for him is clearly your first priority about this. You are now fishing for another arguement. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  6. So its OK for the President to lie under oath? Un the thread is very much about Bush and his second Inauguration. Some think he should not have it. Others think it should not be a big event (I hold this idea), Some say (incorrectly) that is is the tax payers that are paying for it all. And in dealing with second term Presidents it is really right in line to ask about Clinton since he was the last President to have a Second Inauguration. One could also ask about Reagan, Nixon, Eisenhower , Truman, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Wilson,....I could go on, but I think you get the point. Clinton makes the most sense sense it is the closest to today. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  7. You seemed to care how much the city spends...So how much the city makes is important. Its all part of business. And they will pay people to work those events. You are assuming that this will happen. He has not taxed them so much that they can't make a living. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  8. Clinton WAS impeached. He was also disbarred. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  9. How much do you think the City saves on an average day by having the Secret Service? How much do you think the city makes by having the Inauguration there? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  10. Do you normally do freefalls from 3 grand? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  11. Yeah, I miss PK...John and I still email each other "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  12. My first jump in Perris years ago. I was doing athree way and we were first out of the Van. The green light comes on and I look down...I see nothing that looks like an airport. I look under the plane towards the nose...I see nothing that looks like an airport. People in the front start yelling ame to go. I tell them we are no where near the airport. They just keep yelling. Finally I get my group to go...We still landed off. Never again. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  13. The rest of this thread is just a Bush bash like always. Anti Bush, Anti military. You guys kill me. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  14. I hear Heathrow is builing a new terminal. I'll let you know what they are like in 08. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  15. The time it takes to disconect the RSL could kill you. You would be much better just cutting away. If you have a collision under canop you will be LOW It is just such a case where you WANT an RSL. I don't like RSL's, but if you are going to have one, don't disconnect it. You are making the thing useless in the place that it works best...LOW. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  16. OK lets use SKysurfing....It was on the X games for a few years, and was pulled. The Public really didn't get into it. And as for it being good for the sport...How many SKysurfers are there today in the US? There were only 4 at the nationals...4 total, only one class. It did not seem to help that much. You were not in Lake Wales last year. There was quite the stink about it. People didn't want to hand over their property to the USPA so the USPA could make money. No one seemed to mind when the Wagners were doing it....It was a labor of love for the Wagners..But the USPA wanted to turn it into a comercial business. There was quite the stink about it since others were trying to make a profit off of others work. 17. You seem to ignore other input that does not fit into your mindset. 2 points: 1. I know many more folks that started those other sports AFTER they started skydiving. For example me. I learned to fly after I started skydiving and started SCUBA, rock climbing...ect all AFTER skydiving. We are all going after the same base of people, so there is going to be cross sports. 2. Skydiving is not safe. It will never be safe. You will never convince the majority of the population that jumping from an aircraft in flight, falling 2 miles at 120 MPH at teh groung and saving yourself with some nylon packed into a bag is safe. And if you think it is safe and are telling people it is safe you are wrong and lying to them. As for Skydiving becoming mainstream....It will never happen. People can't relate to it, so they are not interested in it. One only has to look at the retention rates. If skydiving was for everyone we would have more students than Tandem passengers. We would have many more jumpers than we have now if just 1% of the Tandems came back...They don't. For most people skydiving is a crazy stunt they did once. As for skydivning on TV. Hell I get bored with watching skydiving. Back when I thought like you I could not get anyone to watch skydiving for more than 10 mins. They didn't understand, and they could not relate. NASCAR they can relate to. Most people drive. It is easy to imagine yourself at the stop light as Dale Jr. You have a right foot and a gas peddle. Football is easy to imagine...How many kids have imagined themselves as a start QB, or a start hitter in Baseball? They can't do that with skydiving since they have no clue what it is like to do it. As for another coment you made...Back in skydivings hayday...News flash, you are standing in it. It was not 20 years ago. It is right now. There are more skydivers than there have ever been. More DZ's and the performance is better than it ever was before. You have very unrealistic thoughts ion this sport. If there we more people some good would happen, but much more bad would come. The rate of accidents would stay the same, but the numbers of dead would of course be larger. Thsi would cause the FAA to look at us since we would no longer be a fringe group left to ourselves....We now would be much more on the radar. As for Airport access. Big DZ's like DeLand have issues with the city. Zhills had some major issues as well. These DZ's bring in TONS of money, but in reality it still is not much and the Cities really don't care that much. Also notice the Quincy WANTED to be rid of us. Quincy got big...Everyone thought bigger was better....That turned out not to be the case. If skydiving is so great...Why are there very few DZ's in S.FL? Why don't they have multiple Otters? Nice idea, but reality says otherwise. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  18. Your and my taxes pay for the Inauguration ONLY just like has been done for over 200 years. The Balls, the parties, all the rest are paid for by the participants and supporters. Like I said check your facts...we only pay for the actual Inauguration, and we have been paying for it since it started with Washington. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  19. 330,000 lbs. (150 metric tons) of payload within 40,000 cubic feet of space with a range of about 6,000 nautical miles "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  20. .0001% Also a good number of the "Jumpers" the USPA reports don't jump anymore. A very large number are students that quit but were made to join the USPA. Another segment don't jump much. OK so that has been proven wrong. And the retention numbers show this to be wrong. Simple cold fact....Skydiving is boring to a whuffo after 5 mins. They can't relate to it, and don't want to relate to it. People can relate to NASCAR since most people drive. People can relate to Football since most have played it in one form or another. Even "Extreme" sports like BMX and Skatebording are easy to try and most have tried them. Ask the folks you work with these questions: 1. Have you ever run? 2. Have you ever thrown a Football? 3. Have you ever ridden a bike? 4. Have you ever drivena car? 5. Have you ever made a skydive? After they answer each question ask them if they would like to try. Have a football, bike and car ready. Most will try them, or have done them. A good number will think you are crazy for skydiving. You can throw a football, or ride a bike with little to no training and little to no risk. It is not the same with Skydiving. Also it will never have a big market since we can't target kids...BMX and Skateborders market to children.....We can't do that. Skydiving is a great sport to those who do it, and a stupid sport to those that don't. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  21. OK this has been covered...He does not have to be in the WH to execute the powers of his office. Ever see the mobile office on AF1? I only know of one Inauguration that was not a big deal. ONE. EVERY Prez has a big party it all started with the 1st Prez....It still happens. Clinton had a big party and made DC pay for the security...Where was your outrage then? You didn't have it since your beef is with the man, not the topic. Hie reason is clearly just to piss you off. He has nothing better to do than try and piss in your cornflakes. It could be that this has been the tradition for over 200 years, a celibration of his victory and a party in the name of the Democratic process........Naw, it is just to piss you off. Well then he would miss a prime opportunity to accomplish his #1 goal. (Which BTW is piss you off). I still think that he is doing ti since he is glad he won a tight race, I think he wants to thank his supporters, I think he wants to celibrate the Democratic process...I could be wrong. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  22. Well do you have one? Other than cutting rubber bands while packing. (Which BTW don't do...Why dull the knife on BS?) While I think they are great in theory.... I think that there are very few "live" uses of a hook knife. Please, share your stories and prove me wrong. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  23. Here is a perfect example of a Bush hater. At least he is honest about it. The only valid point he has is the cost of security. Everything else is noise. The cost of the party is from companies and individuals, not the public coffers. So why would that matter? The rant about the troops is typical, and it is also not related to this topic. But he took the chance to bring it up in typical fashion. One point I would like to bring up about the cost of security...How much does the city SAVE by having the Secret Service around 24/7? Either way I agree that a big party for a second term Prez is a waste....But then again they did win and they have the right to party....One might sugest that the WFFC is a waste of money. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  24. I agree to carry a knife....But how many folks will remember they have one? Again I say carry one, but I know several cases where a guy will land with a problem and someone will ask why they didn't use their hook knife...They look confused and then remember they have one. Try this neat test: As people are getting up to get ready ask a guy with a hook knife where his is....Most times they will have to look for it. A few times they will think they don't have one. I myself when I changed gear reached for it in the wrong spot. To be honest I don't know which leg strap it is on right now. I *think* the left one.
