  1. You can do better than that... post them!!! Vicki
  2. Wow! I must have left too early! Vicki
  3. I have recently had my canopy re-lined by PD and have been totally bowled over by the excellent, helpful and friendly customer service I received from Robin at PD. She was always quick to respond to e-mails and made the whole process easy and hassle free. Nice one Robin and PD!
  4. Nice one Alana - good for you. Vicki
  5. That was so uncalled for! Vicki
  6. Can't see any reason why I won't be there! Vicki
  7. Clay, I'd recommend having B&B only. You'll probably want to grab lunch at the DZ and you'll probably eat dinner late somewhere in the town en route to the many, many bars. I think you'll like Empuria A LOT!!!!! Vicki
  8. I was really hoping to go to the next one. I was gutted when I found out it was already full. There's always next time I guess! Vicki
  9. But Vichy is in France! Vicki
  10. My boogie list isn't all that spectacular... but my "must do" list was: WFFC Eloy Holiday Boogie Herc Boogie Where should I aim for next? Vicki Edited to add - obviously I have been to others but those were the ones I just HAD to do!
  11. Since I started jumping I had a list of "must do" boogies. I realised the other day that I have now done them all! So, help me out here, I'm after inspiration for the next couple of years. Which boogies should I absolutely make a point of getting to? (Happy to travel!) Vicki
  12. There is a hotel a couple of hundred yards from the DZ (Castell Blanc?) which is reasonably priced and meant to be quite nice. The thing to bear in mind with Empuria is that most of the nightlife, especially the late nightlife, occurs in the town which is a little over a mile from the DZ. Whenever I go, we normally stay in the town so that we are staggering distance from the main bars and then drive to and from the DZ. This seems to be the best way to do it. However if you don't plan on hiring a car, I suggest staying nearer the DZ and getting taxis back in the evening. Last time I did this (3 years ago) there was a taxi rank and no problem getting a taxi home. Journey from the town to the DZ then was about 7 euros. Bound to have gone up by now. My advice would be to hire a car and stay in the town. That way if you get a day of Tramontana you can go exploring! Vicki
  13. I'd be tempted, but no! I've been vegetarian for the past 10 years!
  14. I was born in SA and lived there until I was 9 years old. I have been living in the UK for the past 18 years... do I count? Vicki
  15. Charles and Diana were divorced in 1996. But since she is now dead he is free to re-marry (that is my understanding anyway!). The controversy comes over the fact that Camilla is divorced and her ex-husband is still alive. Vicki Edit because it was early in the morning when I wrote the first message and realised I was WRONG!
  16. Until she dies or abdicates (relinquishes her throne) when it will pass to Charles, being her eldest son. Vicki
  17. Really general rule... The wife of a King generally becomes Queen but the husband of a Queen does not become King - they are normally given some other title. i.e. the current Queen's husband is Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh. Queen Victoria's husband was Prince Albert, the Prince Consort. I'm guessing that is where the proposed (eventual) title for Camilla of Princess Consort has come from. Because of a certain amount of controversy surrounding Charles and Camilla's relationship they have announced that she won't become Queen when he becomes King. Confused yet? Vicki
  18. When Queen Elizabeth II dies or abdicates, Charles will become King Charles III. When he dies or abdicates, William will become the next King. Vicki
  19. Rosa, When Adam was in Bosnia a couple of years ago I had told him to ask for things rather than me guessing. They couldn't buy marshmallows there and I ended up sending him a big pack of marshmallows most weeks! That and other snack foods that he liked from home. Just be careful about sending chocolate as it melts way too easily in the heat! Send something like M&Ms if you want to send chocolate. hth
  20. There is a good article about coping with nerves/fear here. Vicki
  21. I've been wanting to see Pompeii for years and I've finally got round to booking a long weekend in the Naples and Pompeii area for mid March. So... has anyone been? Anything in particular I should see in Naples itself or in Pompeii? At present I'm thinking of the following itinerary: Day 1 - arrive early morning - see Naples Day 2 - head down Pompeii/Herculaneum - explore Herculaneum Day 3 - see Pompeii (all day) and return to Naples Day 4 - see more of Naples - fly home Thoughts/comments/suggestions?
