Friendly and close in the (south) UK?
vt1977 replied to RossDagley's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Have you considered Netheravon? -
Try www.axa-travel.co.uk although I think you normally need to do that 7 days in advance. At short notice try http://www.hbinsurance.co.uk/. (In both cases ensure that you select the appropriate cover!) hth! Vicki

:9: Fantastic weekend spent at Langar doing big-ways! Beer possibly owed for my first time floating from a left trail plane.

British rules, taken from the BPA Ops manual are as below: Vicki

Yep, there is no stress release quite like skydiving!

What is your favorite Happy Bunny saying and why?

Thank you! I can see myself ordering a few from there! -
Good news girl! Have some great jumps for me! Vicki

In the UK, wearing at least one knife is compulsory for all licensed skydivers. Vicki

I seem to remember that when I started jumping, PD required 400 (or maybe 500?) jumps before they would sell someone a stiletto. The canopy hasn't changed and the ground hasn't got any softer, so (directed at the original poster) if you have any less jumps please re-consider whether you have any business being under such a canopy. To the original poster - why not try a Spectre 150 as well? I think the Specte is a fantastic beginner canopy - and is also jumped my many highly experienced jumpers as well. Vicki

Where in London are you? Headcorn is open midweek and very easily accessible by train from London Bridge/Charing Cross/Waterloo East - journey time is about an hour. Vicki

Mine has been pre-ordered for months and I can't wait to receive it!

She is an animagus - not sure which book that fact is in, but she is very definitely an animagus. Vicki

Compulsory in the UK until the jumper has a B licence, then optional. Vicki

What was the canopy? If you packed the canopy yourself then you may want to get some tips from someone at your DZ as there are a lot of things you can do with your packing to control the speed a canopy opens. However, some canopies do just open faster than others and once in a while, even when you've done everything right, you sometimes get slammed. hth! Vicki

Just out of interest, and possibly off topic a little... Why are you going for a smaller reserve than your main? At your experience level a reserve wingloading of 1.26 (taking your exit weight as 240lbs) seems high to me. Vicki

*BUMP* Bought mine this weekend!

:4:0 Aircraft problems slowed jumping down somewhat but an awesome weekend nonetheless with hardcore partying on Friday and Saturday nights! Favourite jump was definitely a very high hop and pop for the last load of the weekend but were my arms ever sore by the time I got down?! Quote of the weekend: "Vicki, you're a social hand grenade and a complete fucking animal". I like it! Vicki

I was only half listening, but I'm pretty sure the 7 o'clock news said that airports were fine. I think the Heathrow and Gatwick Express are now running too. Vicki

There are some pretty harrowing pictures on tv this evening too. I'll see you at Nethers tomorrow... I will bring wine. Vicki

What are some of the funniest team names you've heard?
vt1977 replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
The best one I ever heard was a scratch team who called themselves “I want sex in manifest” which led to a call from the girl in manifest of “I want sex in manifest with [name] on camera” Vicki -
I'm pretty sure she was starting in London. She was in London about the same time I was in Sweden so I don't think she's there now. Vicki
