It took 95 years to right the greatest wrong of them all...
vt1977 replied to Frenchy68's topic in The Bonfire
It's evil. Some more info here, but I strongly advise steering clear unless you really enjoy the worst hangovers on earth. Vicki -
Thanks for the good wishes - I really do not feel wel at all! Vicki

In Sweden, I once turned up to a big-way dirt dive to notice a guy opposite me wearing a pair of white Y fronts and his jumpsuit tied around his neck... and NOTHING else. Hot was not a word that sprung to mind either! Vicki

Best DZ food I've ever had was at Gryttjom in Sweden. Home cooked food, 3 meals a day... absolutely delicious.

:1:1 Only one jump due to iffy weather and huge hangover from Netheravon ball. Did however drag myself up to do a jump from the visiting AN2 before it left - so beer (debatably!) owed for my first AN2 jump. Don't even really want to think about beer after the excesses of Saturday night at Nethers ball though. Vicki

From the two blogs (here and here) it sounds like they are SO close... So c'mon... let's post them some GO GIRLS vibes...

Well, I'm not a man but I last jumped a round, for fun, in 2000. Does that count? Vicki

My lowest was 1700' or thereabouts. Miserable low cloud day in England in the middle of winter. We were really, really bored and just wanted to jump! It seemed like a great idea at the time! I had a Sabre 150 then that opened pretty fast and I repacked it to open even faster... On a side note, some of the guys in the plane were betting on who would have a bad exit... so just to mess with them I stood on the step of the Beaver and "fell off" backwards. It made all of us laugh... I had a fully inflated canopy with brakes off just over 1500' which was a little higher than some of those who had done poised exits! I love hop and pops but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable getting out that low on my Spectre. Vicki

You gotta love the British Army... Vicki

Dogs are much like men… positive reinforcement is nearly always the best way. Reward good behaviour! Vicki

Interesting - I've had no such problems with my 135. My experience is that a Spectre with either type of line uses up about the same amount of altitude on opening but the openings just feel a bit softer and smoother with dacron. Vicki

I did about 200 jumps on my Spectre 135 (bought 2nd hand) which was lined with microline. The openings used to go something like this: snivel, snivel, snivel, snivel... pop! Not a big deal, but not perfect either. Earlier this year I had the canopy re-lined with dacron. The openings have improved as I no longer seem to get the "pop" at the end. It seems to take about the same altitude to open. I should say though, that I'm comparing an out of trim, microlined Spectre with an in-trim dacron lined Spectre so this may not be the most useful comparison! All in all, I'm very happy with my decision to re-line the canopy with dacron. I have noticed no loss of performance from doing so and it only increased my pack volume a little. Dacron lines work fine with normal sized slinks too. There were some helpful posts on this thread when I asked the question myself. hth! Vicki

But have you tried Killer Sudoku yet??? Vicki

Who's going to the African Freefall Convention for Christmas?
vt1977 replied to Beverly's topic in The Bonfire
It looks pretty awesome and I'd love to jump in SA one day (I was born there) but sadly I have other, cheaper plans for this Christmas - namely Empuriabrava! Vicki -
I suspect she's joking!!! Being associated with the hurricane of that name etc... Vicki

I seem to remember that Perris does... but it's a while since I've been there. Netheravon in the UK certainly does. Vicki

There is an obituary to Adrian in today's Daily Telegraph (page 31). Online version here. BSBD Vicki

Funny thing happened on my Sabre....Opposite of a hard opening
vt1977 replied to mdrejhon's topic in Gear and Rigging
I did about 500 jumps on various size Sabres and as well as the occasional slammer I did also get a couple of scarily long snivels. Vicki -
A very clever rigger suggested I replace the elastic with some dacron line when the most recent elastic broke. No problems with that at all, and I can see the dacron lasting as long as the helmet is likely to now which is more than I can say for the damn elastic... Vicki

tunnel:3:tunnel I got to fly in the world's largest wind tunnel on Saturday. Awesome!!!!!!!

To Paul and all the staff at Bodyflight a HUGE thank you for an amazing time yesterday at the opening party. That is an awesome "toy" you guys have there.

Frappe hats are great hair nets (seriously, jumping without a helmet with long hair is a nightmare!) but they offer little protection to your head. I stick with my hard, full face helmet for 99% of jumps. Vicki
