  1. Eric, This is not intended to be a repraisal of any sort for the way you think. You have every right based on your experience. Based on mine, the only pearl of wisdom i can think of, is that if you don't let that hurting go away, the worse it is. One of the most difficult things for us Humans is to forgive, plain and simple forgive, not half way, but all the way and move on. This will set you free, on my part I can tell you that I could not harbour, and asked god for the strength in not to hate anyone. I accept every bit of what happened to me responsibly, even though she is total nuts (loca), I see all this as her loss and not mine, after the fact of my relinquishing all my assets in order to avoid a looooong legal proceeding and seing her more than I needed to. THere was nothing for me to do, except not regreting giving it all. It has only made me stronger. 2. So this is all it is to you the material aspect of it? I think we are on the same boat here, I lost it all, yet in a future, I visualize myself growing old with a woman whom I will care for for the rest of my days. Most likely I will request a pre-nup, just to keep what I currently have for my daughter, yet it does not mean you can not make things anew, and try to move on from that point on together. The sad part it is that you could be willing to be involved in superficial interactions with your GF or whatever for the rest of your days. That is not something I look forward to......... Blue ones, my friend, and hope you find peace within yourself "According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
  3. I think is more of a commitment. A lifetime one, that apparently no one seems to be able to hold sacred. "According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
  4. I don't think that in spanish sounds that great....Superpollo..... hehehe "According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
  5. So, you don't believe in self defense. I take it that never you will have to defend yourself under those circumstances, well, Hope you break the bubble sometime soon. we live in a very dangerous world, there are many people who are about hurting/killing others. If a policeman decides to shoot someone who is a car theft, after a car chase of a few miles, exposing others, and gets out pointing out a misterous object, then there is no reason to be worried there? I would say at this point the police is not even thinking, "Oh, let me value the life of this person...." Lets shoot a leg, don't mind stopping him. Wake up man, and face life, your world certainly sound nice, but it is not real nor accesible "According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon

  10. J, It either was a bad spot (which I don't think so), or you lost awareness or fixated while flying your canopy. Don't be to hard on yourself, for you did not panick and made things worse by turning when you saw the posts and the wire. It could have been really bad if you did. At the Alti you opened, you should have flown your canopy around, if you did not see the DZ, then check around for traffic turn and look for it again. You did a great job keeping cool under really bad circumstances, learn the area around the DZ so you can find references that can pinpoint you to the DZ, IE Roads, antennas, construction sites, etc... 13. Angela, Get all the advice from your JM about canopy control what you can do at what altitude and so on. Listen, go over your landing pattern with him, take your time before each jump, and you will learn. Listen to the radio when they tell you to flare, and ask a lot of questions, when you are there...... Anyways, don't forget to buy beer! Good luck there and blue skies! 15. so this is admitting that NOR Cal have the most civilized people on the US? Oh Sue, again you were stating your commnets as facts. I never requested you to have any type of experience but something backing up your words. You just had to read the news on the web as well as pertinent websites to find out that the investigation cleared the police, and that the car chase was for few miles. Sue, I will encourage you to make an opinion, but you have to be honest with yourself. Learn ALL the facts before making a decision, it can be very costly in this sport. You have the right to pursuit your happiness, and this is something I pledged an oath to preserve. What I'm scared is that if you are not able to open your mind, you could be in trouble, fast in this sport. I honestly don't like any incidents that happen, regardless if I argue with the person or not, and not even if I ever got to know them personally. This is ver well intended, and in no way intended to offend you. Please, take this as an honest and well intended advice. No need for cursing here QuoteI was just winding you up about that. I didnt have any problem sleeping either, water off a ducks back. I dont take personal threats on the internet too seriously LOL. However if you said it to me face to face, I'd probably have made you cry! Please also accept my apologies for the way I did express myself to you. You did make me see I was wrong on making those type of comments, and I'm grown enough to face my own mistakes. And please, be safe, so enjoy a lifetime of jumping. Sue, there will be no posts for this matter, if you feel you are enraged by my comments, I can not say how sorry I am for not being able to make a point across as I should. Be safe and blue skies. 16. Why don't you try an 8 way double link tube dive, I have have success with them all the time, and after 15-20 sec (maybe not lower than 9K), you get a cue so you can start a magic carpet ride....... Anyways, have fun on your 500! Blue ones "According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
  17. Mine has been on my mind the same day I saw the first skydiver actually land against a brick wall. I was 5 YO. From that moment, I just made parachutes with my toys, you know those plastic green soldiers, and plastic bags, and climbed all kinds of tree to see them fly, as well as our 3 story house, where our neighbors would call my parents...... I tried everything from then on, doing just dangerous stupid things such as jump of 30 feet clifs into the waves, using an umbrella to test the veracity of Mary poppins, Flyng in my bycicle after running to a ramp close to a ditch full of water, perhaps 5 meters high. I even got detained once on a small airport for having the bright Idea of throwin my bike over the fence, climbing it and riding on the runway while small planes landed...... Oh yes, I was lucky enough to get just bruises, never broke a damn bone, until 21. I was lucky to joined the airforce as a cadet, after a brief stunt on the army, managed to survive helicopter rides hanging from ropes, yet never could get to actually jumping from the damn plane. Until we actually went on the paratroopers training. Men, of all the crap i had to go through on my trainings, I guess that one was the worst and most demanding of all. Try carrying those damn rigs and running around with them at 90 under the sun for a couple miles....... PLF was the instruction, no doubt about it, and they made sure you had your legs strong enough to do it anyhow, anywhere. And then it was there, 20, inside a C-130 with those huge rigs, scared as hell thinking, WTF was I dreaming about? Then it was there my turn, to follow the guy out the door, there were 50 of us on the load, with the T10s, and the count 1-1000, 2-1000, 3-1000 check.....ooppss I guess I started walking on someone's canopy and we almost became entangled. So much dreaming for this moment, and it may be my last. Damn. I just remember pulling the big silver handle on my belly to get that sucker out. We both survived. I did a couple dozen more jumps and took a 12 year hiatus from it due to work, school, family, and all those things that take over our lives. Back in the air and thru AFF a year now, and can't seem to be able to get enough. Blue skies. 18. If you know how to pack, it's all about the same. I can show you how to get either one in the bag with a minimum of effort (stop by Tent 3 if you're at the Convention). I won't be able to make due to work As far as performance goes, the difference between a 210 and a 190 isn't great enough to warrant the expenditure. Since you feel the 210 is a dog, it's probably a good canopy to keep on hand for night jumps and other cases where a lot of control on landing are useful. I'm keeping the canopy for I have decided to get another rig altogether. Also plan to due a few night jumps on 08/12 :-) My exit weight is also 200#, and I jump canopies from 99 to 282 sq. ft.. They're all fun. I wouldn't feel screwed if the only canopy I had on hand was a Sabre 210, and probably would have to work at it to fly it to anywhere near the limit of its performance. You could do worse than to jump the hell out of your 210, and consider adding a smaller canopy to your lineup when you have hundreds of jumps on it. Jumping the odd demo for comparison in the meantime is not a bad idea, but you can learn some serious canopy control under your 210. Rather than looking to downsize while your main is still operational, why not wear it out with repeated use and get your money's worth out of it? If it opens reliably and gets you to the ground in one piece time and again, it would appear to be holding up its end of the bargain. I don't know anyone who wore out their first canopy that wishes they had downsized sooner. Stick around and you'll have plenty of time to jump all sorts of canopies. My question was based on the safety aspect of downsizing that much, I am not looking forward to kill or maime myself while jumping and landing. I think that most of us have seen first hand way too many issues with experienced and not so experienced people doing HP landings. I appreciate your comments, and honest appreciation, just got me thinking that I should just buy a rig with the same WL and consider downsizing to 180-170 when I'll get 100 jumps more at least. My hornet is definitely a good canopy and has not given me problems, even with line twists the damn thing flights straight..... 22. Good call. He could have just draped it across the handrail. Now, THAT would have been lazy. And if he wore it in his head then will it be ok to shoot them first? "According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
