I agree with your point of view Chris. Although do not agree with the current events that has brought Europe against the US, with the exception of Spain, and England. Apparently they all try to accuse and liberate themselves of over a millenium of tragic history of explotation of other cultures. Regardless to what they have to say about this matter, this holds true with most ex European colonies that are currently independent. While they close the doors on everyone else that is not giving them any benefit, such as lets say a plan MARSHALL, now they want to pretend they are the utmost civil culture in the world. It is not that US is perfect, but they are quick to point fingers and forget just a 1000 years of total control of the globe that is and for many years will affect current affairs. Look at Africa, the last colony abandoned, and the current state of affairs, look at the middle east, ????? SO who's fault it is? Angela, Welcome aboard and we would like to invite you to get addicted to this great sport. You will.... As an advice, Vanillaskygirl was right, it is not necessary. You could take a lot of advantage if first you try the wind tunnel for 10 minutes first (+- $100), located in Orlando, an 1.5 hrs from Sebastian. Or about 4-5 from Plantation. You will save much more and that will give you a great idea what freefalling is all about, besides learning a few skills that will let you fly through AFF a lot quicker, for even cheaper than trying Tandem. I tried this with a whufo friend of mine, now he is getting his AFF practice in the tunnel before even going to AFF, and he is doing really good..... Anyways, good luck, be safe and blue skies! Raquel, A far as I know, the ranch seems to be a pretty good option for you. You will definitely like to get on your way before the year end (preferably get your A- license before Sept 30.), without any rush though, if you are not able to so be it. Sorry to hear that. It seems that your were not able to relax on your way down. Jumptown is a great place, home of legends such as Lew Sandborn. or D-1. You will get it in no time, just make sure your logbooks are in order and go there as much as you can. Jeanne, I guess this guy is out of context in regards to freedoms, for once, he complains that he should be free to fish salmon without permit, and for the other, he bitches about you shooting 300 away and getting a meal, and rug for decoration......??? I do not know what his problem is, but he does not mention anything for the facts that this world is becoming overpopulated, and eventually all governments will be enforced to control birth rates. It is curious that you mention the fact that you don't have freedoms, or feel like you don't have them, based on the common good of EUROPEAN UNION. And try to make a point about it with trying to portray that US is a democracy in decay. I will tell you this, based on history, the EUROPEANS were born and lived in a exact social status which would be the same until the day of their death. ALthough many things have changed, the opportunity to make it over there, pale in comparison of making it here. You can be born in US with no money and if you work VERY HARD (usually others are just lucky), usually you will enjoy some success, and be able to achieve your dreams, or fail miserably. Now, there has been people here who have made tons of money, lost it all, and then get it back.......I don't think ever reading about this situation in EUROPE, with the exception of the newly independent former soviet bloc.... You will find sooner than later that for most part, you will be looked after during your training and as you develop you skills, by your new family. There is no writen law on how whuffos (people like most of your family) can be converted into people who will actually support, but you should talk to them seriously at one point, and let them know that there is serious training and that this is something that makes you happy. sign up for AFF and get your license without hurry, just make sure you learn the safety aspects (neverending), and overall, go at your own pace, you will find it very rewarding, as long as you are conscious about safety and willing to learn. Personally, I think skydiving is but a state of mind and freedom, and that if you keep the same attitude with the rest of your life, you will see how much enjoyable it becomes. Blue ones and be safe! Betsy, Regardless of how many people where there, there is a way to find exactly where the people jumping that day and wehere are from far all jumpers had to present documentation. what about if we start networking a bit here, and pass on this information, once we get the dropzones most likely to be used by all those fun jumpers mainfested there that day? I will think that if the guy was US based, he will not eve attempt to do it, but to me it is more plausible that someone outside the borders had a better shot. Do not misunderstand that thought with bigotry, or phobia for non US jumpers. But is the facts that point to that direction. ANy ways, blue ones! Hey Chris, The congestion you have is probably caused by getting to altitude from the past week I believe? According to what the doctor said it is some sort of allergy, try sudafed (call him/her), and try also to take long steamy showers without getting water in your ears.
