  1. I think that the weather in the NE part of the country has been taken over by sailors who don't like skydivers........ Yes, this year I will join the brass ball club in order to be able to keep on jumping during the winter. If not, I will sell all my belongings, and move to AZ..... 2. Well, I personally think that you will have no trouble learning this sport, but not so with the addiction and jump withdrawals you get.... Great post, by the way. Stay safe and blue skies! 3. Thank you for the information. I will send this proxy Friday.... Blue skies! "According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
  4. Will, I agree with you. Although statistics gives low numbers for the jumps a year, each one is a fatality and could happen to anyone. I have made my mistakes, while flying, exiting, and landing, to all of which have not been an injury, remarkably.. I consider myself to be a enthusiast, but a safe skydiver, and have been doing a lot of reading, asking questions, and practicing all the emergency procedures (as many as I can), yet some people have forgotten the fact that last year's statistics were full of D lic. people under good canopy. That kind of tells me that there are things that are being overlooked. (if this is with the people that have experience, what could we expect to learn?). Mostly I think that the safety is a big part of our sport, yet, we tend to forget the real hazzards that are there every time we get up in the air. This is not a pledge to clip anyone's wings, but to please watch out out there, during exit, during flying, wave and pull safely and please watch your trafic under canopy!!!!! Blues skies to everyone! Juan "According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon

  11. I don't think no one should rush into getting ratings for the sake of it. So what if someone does not get to a D Lic. before sept? I don't personally see any difference as long as you get the experience, at a safe pace. Just my $ 0.02... Blue skies! 12. Would you mind telling us what happened? I am trying to learn on the subject, and have been considering starting video when I get 40 or so more jumps. Some people just don't like them, but being conservative, I think I will need one for a long while Sorry to hear about your loss, and although it is sad, please be kind and share the experience. Take care and blue skies ! "According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon

  18. Hello Betsy, Those dates seem very nice to get away for the NE weather. I have always had the impression the Eloy has the best skydiving weather in the continental US. I have been in 9 different dropzones, but for what I read, there is definitely no place better to train and learn with some of the legends in the sport. Just one question, is it true that under canopy the fall rate is a lot faster in there? If so, could you explain why? Take care and blue skies! 21. Skymama, I did follow your advice and tried to get a signature replacement to quote something, to no avail, in the FAQ, it details that is in the user profile that you can do that, yet when I go to modify my profile I could not find where to make the changes. Blue skies....! "According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon

  24. Chris, I think you have a deeper issue other than the training itself. I personally think that although you will not need to get a B license for a future in the sport, you will need to be prepared regardless. All of us are in constant learning no matter the jump #'s we get. I would advise you, that if you could get some sort of professional help to overcome your fears, it would be a lot easier for you and you won't be panicking when the moment of truth comes. Just figure for a second, that if you are already scared in an environment that is safe, what would it be for you when a real situation comes? If you don't deal with your fear of water, then if ever the moment arises in real life, you will probably end up in pretty bad shape from either a bad toggle input, or inability to do the right things. Good luck and take care! "According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
