  1. I am confused. Is the New York times not a news paper? The washington post is what then? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  2. Are the oceans temps really going up? Are fish and coral really dying due to higher oceans temps? Source please. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/22/us/22coral.html?ex=1305950400&en=3a5f024814e926e3&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/12/AR2005101202498.html http://www.ucar.edu/news/releases/2006/oceantemps.shtml that's just a few that came up with a quick google search on......."oceans temps rising", happy reading. A bunch of newspaper articles is not what I would call "peer reviewed" sources. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

  4. That is no problem with a R.A.G.E from Paratec. You can steer that thing with front risers all the time. There is very little pressure on the fronts, which makes for a lot more pressure on the rears. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  5. It's hardly the first time that you can sail through the NWP. http://www.norwegianblue.co.uk/history.htm Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  6. Because he thought up the lyrics while cleaning his new rifle the day after he converted from Christianity to Islam, which he did because he's sick of the way Bush is running the country. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  7. I think you mean prize money. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  8. Don't quite work for me, I can understand German Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  9. I don't understand this. How would dating Henry Ford give you experience in driving cars? Now if you drive cars a lot, you gain experience on how to avoid crashing a car, even if you never have a crash. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  10. Can you remind me why bungee is not recommended for wingsuit? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  11. I have done a whole bunch of 270's where the airspace was not sterile. The other people in the airspace were doing 270's, 360's, 430's and more. It worked because everyone was aware of what the others were doing where they were. To add to the difficulty all the jumpers should land in the same place! Through some entry gates only a few meters apart, over a pond and land hopefully in the zone for top points. Nope, no sterile airspace there, just awareness and planning. The problem on most run of the mill loads is that you have a whole bunch of skydivers zipping around the air space with no real plan and little understanding of what others might be doing. 12. Great idea. I feel guilty about not going to work and still collecting my salary. Will you go to work for me so I can collect my salary without a guilty concience? What does that cost? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  13. To do that here in Germany would be a real pain. You have to go through 1 and half days ground school before you get to jump. I would get so bored the instructors would throw me out for not paying attention before I got to jump. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  14. The video was a classic demonstration of what NOT to do on line twists. You need your hands to cut away and deploy the reserve. You certainly do not want them trapped in spun up lines/risers. edited: fur spilling Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  15. I understand what you are saying, if the reserve cable does not have any slack in it then it needs to be fixed. I am not a rigger, but I am sure a rigger can tell us how much slack there needs to be on a reserve cable. I have about 2 -3 inches on my sport rig. However, you must realize that most people here are not going to believe that fabric on a jump suit released the reserve. They are going to go for the handcam that snagged the reserve handle. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  16. On the last picture it looks like the main is behind the reserve. What snagged the reserve handle, the handcam or the jump suit? I find it hard to believe a bit of baggy cloth can snag a handle. That does not mean it's impossible but if it was the handcam, that is another matter entirely. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  17. I think you just summed up all the problems of trying to learn from the internet. We should not forget that between the thread showing ego and limited understanding and the accident, two years had passed. That for me is 800 jumps 2 years more experience. Also, I find it odd that the very people that said he would not last, qualified it by saying "I was also just like you". Does that not make you think? These forums serve very well as warnings to those that push too early, but in the end you will still have to make thousands of jumps to realize how little you know and how fragile you are. 18. One I get often is when I show the tandem students a demo video. When the drogue is thrown the students says "He's opened the parachute already!" Then it's gets worse as the TM explains without the drogue they would fall to fast for the vidiot. Like, we don't bother with the drogue when they don't have video Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

  21. Is it not a bit like when travelling in a car you can get sick, but as the driver you don't? People tend to get motion sickness when they are not in control of the motion. When you fly the canopy yourself, you control the motion, therefore no motion sickness. I could be all wrong here, what do you think Bill? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
