Do you believe your standard of living would increase through Socialism?
rhys replied to AdamLanes's topic in Speakers Corner
We all live in a somehow socialised environment, there is not a country in the world that does not. it is just some don't know the differnce between socialism and communism, those are usually the same people that agree that socialised military, space programs and roads and infrastructure is cool but healthcare is not. how dare those bums use the roads we pay for! Damn good question, Unfortunately your philosiphy is likely to be considered un-acceptable by the conservative, republican, christians by your spelling mistakes alone. However, I would like to see a rational answer to that question as I do not belive there is one... ? The USA was not called upon to invad Iraq, that was a resonal agenda and a way to secure 10% of the worlds oil production. Rwanda would not have take the same amount of enegy as Iraq, politically it would have been a good thing to do to go in there, that was the dems so not really a good example. Yes it is a beautiful country, I so want to go there next time I am in the regon. before all the gorilla are gone "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Yeah, I think the economic collapse would have still happened, but instead of a diplomatic approach to the situation (Obama), the Republicans (McCain) would still have their chaps and 6 shooters on. Americans don't realise the hatred that has been focused against them, even in allied countries and america itself, let alone the countries that could be on the recieving end. I know GW wanted to make the US a safer place (at least that is what he told us) but his administration’s actions did quite the opposite. They may have made it much harder to attack the USA on a small scale but on a large scale the USA is weaker than it was 8 years ago. Those scenes you see on the news of mothers holding their bloody children, civilians maimed and killed, infrastructure decimated. These are not scenes from movies. It is reality. If you were on the receiving end you would have hatred. All these people have families, if you have had someone close die, you will know the pain involved with dealing with it. Imagine your entire family was killed by a country that had no right to be there decided to take over and overthrow your government because it didn’t like the way it was run. You would feel the same hatred that many people that have been on the recieving end ,feel. The USA are not the world police, but they sure act like it(under republican rule) . If that continues, severe consequences will occur. I don't want that to happen, and I’m sure most Americans don't want that to happen. It is not the Republicans that the world hates, it is their actions. You have to work out the difference. There is nothing stopping the republicans being peaceful and diplomatic but they simply don't want to be like that. Considering the USA needs to import 75% of its oil already, and their military uses copious amounts of oil in order to tick over, it would not have been funny; your country would have been brought to its knees. You sure have some sick sense of humour. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

What is the point, you are going to keep your mindset, I am not going to change mine. You are enitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. The R/W floks in here will say I hate America because hate GW Bush and what he stands for.... Fortunately I have visited the USA and the Right wingers in here are nothing like the majority of americans I have met. I really like the USA, and with its current presedent, that yes, the majority voted in, it is looking like the USA has a good future. I suppose you think the entire world was stoked with the US policies and consumption of recources that has been happening for almost the last decade? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

The right wingers in here really have proved theemselves as narrow minded, instant gratification, un educated, brainwashed idiots. They way you lot are carrying on you think you are going to be forced into driving Ladas, collecting food tickets, and waving a red flag. Capitalism is nice if you are on the recieving end but it is the apitimy of uneven distribution of wealth. Socialism is the balance that makes capitalism work for everyone. Without the combination of the two there would be massive corporations with no small businesses, and wporkers would all be paid minimum wage or replaced by machines for maximum profit... capitalism is the reason the current governments 'ALL AROUND THE WORLD' are currently handing out cash to keep thier economies afloat. Obama does not want to go into debt as many of you will strongly believe, he wants your economy and commercial industry to stay afloat and avoid the invitable depression that will occur if nothing is done. Blame your own republican party for soaking up all the cash (in thier personal bank accounts, capatilism, fuck yeah) and putting not only America but the entire world in this shithouse situation. Give the guy (Obama) a go, which means a fair go, back your leader. If you have ever played sports, imagine the USA is the team and obama is the coach. Things will be different for a while but if you don't embrace the change, the game plan will be lost and you will not make the quarter finals. If the Republicans were elected, IMHO the USA would most likely have become dangerously close to being invaded, fortunately common sense prevailed and the world has given the USA a second chance. Contrary to what many Americans believe, the USA was 'Hated' for the past few years the world around. Now we all have hope for not only the USA but the entire world and it's stability. Many of you don't realise how much you should be thankful for, just for that situation alone. Go with it, back your leader and you might be pleasantly surprised at how your lifestyle may become. rhys replied to majestik666's topic in Events & Places to Jump

Talk to Neil, the owner/operator (skydive the sounds), it may just be possible to get on one of those loads jump into the south island and then head off to Motueka (Skydive Able Tasman) for some fun jumps. Good luck. Rhys "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -
Yes, some strange ways in Africa, Kenya is a strange one, Though the centre of Nairobi is quite modern and their shilling is strong in comparison to neighbouring countries, and the extent of the poverty is much more than neighbouring Tanzania. Tanzania had some strange things too but one thing that struck me as real positive was the different religions and the friendship they have with each other. Muslims, Hindus and Christians of various genres, all living in complete harmony without any apparent conflict. A school that had a mosque on one side a temple on the other and various churches within a stone throws distance; all had attendees from all the facets of all the religions. First world counties could learn a lot from this "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

I am with you, but what alternative does he have at present realisticly. You can't come in guns blazing and turn the whole shabang upside down over night and expect to keep your popularity vote. It si sick and twisted how the worlds economy has been manipulated, but Obama is not to blame for that, he only can try to stop recession and aviod depression. Even the bank cartels don't want depresssion, they want people spending money and thier investments to be worth thier maximum. It will be interesting to see though, if the worlds currencies do become more combined (much like the euro) as predicted. i'm sure the Rockefellas and Rothschilds etc. want that. This kind of climate would be the easiest time to lay it on the masses. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

I voted yes america is free, and i am not american, i have spent some time there (california) and I will be spending more. There are certain aspects of american politics and public service that i don't think are very free at all, but as a whole the american people have it very good. I have lived in Oceana, europe, Africa and visited other parts of the world. Out of everyone, I beleive the americans have it the easiest, considering the price and standard of living. The standard of living is slightly higher in australia I believe, but the cost are horrendus in comparison. Of course there are bums and people with substandard living conditions in America, but considering there are hundreds of millions of people, it is not too bad. Tanzania only had 40 million people in comparison, and at least 90% were in poverty. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Sweeeeet! My self and my partner have ordered 2 microns each with magnetic riser covers, I love Vectors, my current rig is a 1999(arizona airspeed 8 way, team USA rig) V3 with more than 4000 jumps on it, though a bit faded it is still as funtional as it was when it was new. The new microns have nice new modifications but the only thing that concerned me a little (from viewing older magnetic riser covers), was the crinkleing of the yoke. Not that that effected the funtion of the rig, but because we all want our rig lookign good, as that is piece of mind. This modification has improved the function and the look of the rig, well done. Thanks UPT for being so innovative and making such a quality and safe product. Now roll on May, and I look forward to meeting the UPT team in florida when we get there. I know of a DZ that is waiting until the Pal equivelent of the CX105 comes out before moving entirely to soild state. The CX7 and CX12 already works fine (most of the time, bar some IS issues) for hand cam so I can't see why the 105 wouln't. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

I didn't know all that, i have seen many rigs and never noticed a great difference in the yokes. I suppose the size of the yoke is determined by the manufacturer, given the customers measurements? thanks for that. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

13 gusting 18 would really be a concern for someone with 100 jumps, you would have to be real current and confident, and know the area well before it would be considered safe. That is not to say you wouldn't be allowed to jump. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
-
you would be better off buying a second hand rig that is your size or similar. but even if you resize a harness, you shouldn't have too much trouble with the yoke as they are all quite standard right through all the different sizes. how big/small are you? I don't believe that is true, if it was a smear movie it would have outlined the clusterfuck during 911. Aparently allowing an aircraft to hit the pentagon almost an hour after the first 911 attack. But the truth in that would have been too outrageous for the US public to concede. I am not only talking about the thery of a conspiracy which many of you know my thoughts on, but even as the story has been told to us would outline the incompetence of him and his administration. They could have smeared GW all over texas and still had ammo. They went light on him, even felt sorry for him for being hard done by. I doubt it was word for word bro, but the punchline was about what we were told and what we observed. WMD's = War, No WMD's = Oops, but oh we'll. Probably the same reason you didn't like it. Define intellegent? Humans are no different to cancer, we have the ability to transform anything from one thing to another but we decide to feed our greed and destroy our surroundings. Take a look at the place you are currently sitting/standing and imagine what it would be like without the presence of human beings, probably quite beautiful... I imagine there probably is life beyond our solar system, but I imagine we may never know. To believe there absoluteley is not, is stupid. To believe the whole univers was made for humans... stupid. It does not take a very intellegent mind to figure that out but many millions of people belive we were creted by a god and the universe is here for us to abuse. We are easily manipulated by greedy, power hungry assholes. If we were so intellegent, we would be much more careful with what we use and do, but we are not. brain capacity, yes. Ability to use it well... ..you decide! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

I used to use a zenitar on my film camera before the switch over, i was using a pentax and i could change the shutter speed in freefall if we went through a cloud or similar but really in this day and age an automatic lens is the best. I really like the idea of buying a film camera with the good lens, 'll have ti have a browse. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

exact date for the firts lot to change over was july, which is really 8 months ago which would equalaround 600 jumps, in high humidity, on a sand wet beach. probably the worst environment you could imagine for electronics. the problem with the sonys has not been longlivity niether the samsung or panasonics, it has been the optical image stabaliser which for a whuffo is all good, flying in a burble however has proven to produce less than sellable images even when brand new. the CX100 or whatever it is seems to have eliminated this problem with electronic image stabaliser but only time will tell how long these cameras will last. If the trend is like any othe modern appliance, they will likely not last very long at all, so we buy another one sooner rather than later. ......because you are a republican? ......because it was all bullshit? ......because the acting was bad? ......because it skewed the truth? come on man, if you are going to throw statements out there like that, how about substanciating them? otherwise you post is a trashy piece of crap! Just watched it, Enjoyed it. Can't say I loved it but it is good to see that the bullshit the Bush admin (Jr. and Snr.) fed the american people was addressed. oil and votes. the poor Iraqi people had thier lives turned upside down because of Oil and votes. It was a movie but it was also a very loud statement. Fuck he was a yobbo. a sad sad yobbo. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
