As great as that would be, they'd never air it....would they? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

After watching a couple episodes of Tommy Lee's reality show last year I don't think he functions at much more than a grade five level in a LOT of ways. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

dang, I missed it....Who else was in the bottom 3? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Lukas is the one with the spiked hair and eyeliner. Ryan has short dark hair. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

i got sucked in too but I'm really enjoying the performances of most of the rockers. If 2 have to go this week ... I'm going to say Lukas and Storm go if they are in the bottom three. Lukas has twice gotten an earful over not facing the audience..I don't think SN feel that he connects with the fans they way they would like. That leaves Dilana, Toby, Ryan and Magni..the top 4 in most people's minds. But what happens if those 2 aren't in the bottom 3? Then it gets interesting...toss one and do three the next week? Do you suppose they might decide to keep 2 people for the band? I don't know how they are going to choose one of the top 4. I don't feel any of them totally meshing with SN but I could see a combination of Ryan and Dilana or Magni and Dilana expanding SN's possibilities considerably. Just a thought.... -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

So who got the "Tommy-Hawk" tonight? My oldest son had his birthday party and I missed the show. I'd be hoping it would be Lukas but I'd bet it would be Patrice. I really enjoyed her original song last night but when the comment was made that it was a song more suitable for a solo artist I get the feeling that she'll be gone soon. I agree with others that Dilana and Magni are the two in front....Ryan coming on but I think the other two really own the stage and have better stage presence. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Google Earth Drop Zone Project -- Ideas and Discussion

Unfortunately, our dz's location is pretty low-res on Google Earth...but here is Prairie Skymasters Parachute Club's dz location: Wakaw Saskatchewan Canada. And, the Dragonfly was a 220 sq. ft. 9 cell....essentially a 9 cell Firefly. A 210 or 230 Spectre should fit in there easy...might even be too loose. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Our leather furniture has remained completely untouched by our three cats...who all have razor sharp claws. The leather is smooth...perhaps yours was more textured or suedelike? I think declawing is cruel, cruel, cruel. Don't do it. I lived with friends a number of years ago that declawed a new kitten and it was just a horrible thing to see this poor little thing trying to walk on its freshly amputated toes. You can put out scratching posts, spray them with water when they go near your furniture, etc. but if you have cats I think you just have to accept that they are going to go after your furniture. Our cats are not as bad now..they are 11 and 12 years old .... but they sure used to rip things up. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Keynotes is what Steve uses for his presentations...that's where it got its name...his "Keynote" speeches at all the gatherings of the Mac faithful. I don't think the transition you want would be very hard to do. I have a copy of Keynotes at work but have only played with it a little. If nobody else has the answer I'll check it out on Monday and see what I can do. Mac ram...I think I've seen people recommend Other World Computing. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Very interesting post Scott. I use my .Mac account to keep all my addresses and appointments synced between home and my Mac at work and find it invaluable. With two small boys and lots of appointments and activities I can't rely on writing everything on the kitchen calendar. To be honest, I've never thought of that aspect of the Mac as a selling point....especially for business people so your perspective is very illuminating. My experience with the only chain stores in town that carry Macs (Future Shop..Canadian stores now owned by Best Buy I believe, and London Drugs) is that the salespeople don't have a clue about how to do anything on a Mac...they can't help people so they steer them over to the PC shelves. I think that if one of them set up with a digital camera, a video camera and a few CDs and showed people how quickly and easily you can be creating with your raw material on a Mac that they would sell a ton of them. But, I suspect that salespeople are also very motivated to sell what makes them the most money...if that is a PC that's what they'll sell you. What is the best type of computer for you isn't really important to them. I can hardly wait to see what you think once you have that new setup in front of you and have spent some time on it. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I just read a Computerworld review of the new Mac Pro towers. It mentioned the ability to install 2 video cards that would allow you to run 4 (four!!) 30" Cinema displays. I went to the Apple website to price this out...with the dual 3 ghz dual core processors, maxed out the ram at 16gb, installed 4 500gb hard drives with 4 Apple Cinema displaysand it comes out to about $20 grand! A precise number wasn't possible because the website only comtemplates installing one video card and I don't know what the price of another would be. Of course, there's also the Hiperwall to aspire to.....with 50 30" Cinema Displays. So, if your new setup feels a bit cramped after a while...it's nothing money can't fix! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

You can use iPhoto which is on your Mac....Select the files you want to upload, File...Export and then enter the size you want them to be. You can do an awful lot of basic stuff within iPhoto. This Apple support page has links to tutorials and so on for iPhoto that you might find helpful. If you have to fiddle with the file size to meet a kb limit..like on dropzone.com...by changing the jpg quality, etc you need something else....Graphic Converter will do it or Photoshop Elements at a fairly reasonable price. Or, you can use GIMP as AggieDave mentioned but I think you will have to install X11 (Unix windowing software) first. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I think there is a way with the firmware hack that I used to set it up in "Clamshell" mode but I haven't tried that with my iBook as I always use the external monitor and the built-in laptop screen as an extended desktop. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Much as it pains me to type this, I have seen reviews of a Dell 30 inch monitors that stated that it was as good or better than the Apple 30" Cinema Display and at a lower price. Of course, I don't know how the prices compare now since Apple dropped the prices on all monitors on Monday August 7th. So, you might check into this.... Whatever you buy you will have an amazing setup to work on. I've only seen one of these things and it's like iMax on your desktop -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

If you can rent or borrow the Martin Scorsese documentary "No Direction Home" that aired on PBS a while ago watch it and then decide. I'm an old bastard that decided not to go and see Dylan when he was in my city a few years ago and since watching that documentary I greatly regret it. It may be because I was a teenager when Dylan first hit the scene but it gave me a great appreciation for the influence he had on music. However....I do have a ticket to see the Stones in Regina SK on October 6th...12th row!!!! I hope it isn't snowing -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

The best line in the few episodes that I watched had to be when one of the marching band instructors , after watching Tommy struggling to keep up, turned to another one and said/asked, "This guy's a rock star?" -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
