My husband bought me a new iPOD... download tips?
murrays replied to katiebear21's topic in The Bonfire
Oh, and here is the newest way to browse your albums (I still use that term too) you just click on the right most button above "View at the top of the Window and it will display your album covers and the songs on each album...see attached. It's very cool. iTunes has a new feature to get album art but I have a lot of tracks with no album information so I have a lot of blanks after using it. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey -

JT, I think that the "Browse" view in iTunes gives you what you want if I understand you right....see attached. To sort a playlist by artist...click on the bar above the Artist column and it will sort by artist...click again and it sorts in the opposite order. The search window in the upper right corner is very fast at finding whatever you are looking for in my experience. Smart playlists are very cool...you can set conditions and rules up the yinyang...I have one set up for music acquired in the last month...that excludes the genre "Children" and all artists my wife likes. Very handy when you get new stuff and forget you got it. iTunes 7 is the latest version...just over a week old. The Skydive Radio podcasts can be subscribed to from inside iTunes. Click on the iTunes Store, click on Podcasts and enter Skydive Radio in the search window...it'll appear for you in a moment or two. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey -

Some of us have legal MP3s that weren't purchased through iTunes, so that leaves us holding our hats with iTunes. AggieDave, do they have DRM on them? Can you do the burn to an AIFF routine or equivalent that you have to do to remove the DRM from iTunes purchased music? Dave, Music downloaded from the iTunes store won't work on Premiere...unless you burn it to a cd as an AIFF file and then reimport it...this process removes the DRM copy protection. I know you can't please all of the people all of the time but I've been happy with iTunes since v 1.0. Does everything I need it for....and then some. I'd use it for a while and explore its features before dumping it. If you're not familiar, here's an overview of its features. One of the newest features in iTunes 7 (which was just released a week ago) is the ability to backup your music...your entire library, songs added since your last complete backup, purchased music only....and it will automatically span DVDs if your backup is larger than the media you use for your backup. Doesn't seem like a big thing but when you consider how much time you spend ripping CDs, downloading music and how much you may spend buying music this is a great feature. Anyway, my advice isn't to ditch iTunes until you have fully explored its capabilities and find it doesn't work for you. I think it is a great piece of software. ymmv Enjoy your new iPod!! -
Best Cessna launch for a "Track the Cat"
murrays replied to Zoso's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Front of the cat goes out as far as possible holding onto the strut, the others go out taking a leg grip with their right hand and hold the strut with their left...the tail could dive from the door holding both grips or also be out ..as soon as you leave the two other grips are picked up with the left hands....I'm sure there are other ways people have tried but this has worked for me in the past. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey -

1984. Had the large tafetta pink dress for my grad. 'Shell - did you know any songs from the Crack Choir at that time? Did you flash 'em at Grad?? I got out of HS in 1970...would have been 1969 but I got expelled in 1967 for refusing to get a haircut My teachers must have been drunk for a week when they finally got rid of me. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

'Shell, oooohhhhhh that hurt I am damn old. But, it's ok. I like a lot of the music out now. I listen to older stuff but sometimes I just think...I've been listening to that for 40 years...I need something new. Or, I will listen to stuff that is old to youngsters like you but was new to me but that I just didn't appreciate when it was current...Sex Pistols, Nirvana, etc, etc. I think we are lucky to live in a time when it is easy to find music from virtually any era by virtually any artist. Whether on Amazon, iTunes or the P2P network of your choice. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I just bought Songs Fom the Big Chair to replace my vinyl copy. I also have The Hurting and Seeds of Love by them. How is it that I buy these guys at the same time as I am buying Raw Power by the Stooges? I don't get it. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I hope Shonie is working hard because he looked pretty gassed in his first fight which I think he just barely won on the decision. I know you don't want an iPod but PC Magazine just gave the new 8GB Flash based Nano 4.5 out of 5 stars and made it an Editor's Choice. I've picked up a couple of books from Amazon...Modern Arnis by Remy Presas and Complete Sinawali by Reynaldo Galang. There doesn't seem to be much else. There are lots of dvds available in the pages of Black Belt Magazine, etc but they are usually costly and it's hard to tell which are good or not. So, if your brother in law has any dvd suggestions you could pass along it would be greatly appreciated. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

The Gracie fight wasn't much of a fight in terms of damage to Hughes. So he was probably ready to go again. I'm disappointed that St. Pierre was unable to fight Hughes due to injury but the Penn/Hughes fight should be a good one. I want Hughes to win so that St. Pierre gets his shot at him. I'm expecting GSP to do much better in the rematch. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
