Does anyone remember the term 'zoomie'?
murrays replied to waltappel's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Zoomies - Style & Accuracy jumpers. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey -
GROAN...that one hurt I read a little blurb today somewhere that says Supernova can't use the name because an existing band called Supernova has done the legal thing to stop them. After creating some name recognition they can't use it. Hilarious. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Same warranty as new. I bought an Airport Extreme base station and a friend bought a 20" iMac refurbished....like others have said, good way to save a few bucks. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Anybody on here into FMA? I was wondering if there are any DVDs or books available that you have found helpful. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

They did say that they had to listen to their fans and that Lukas got more votes than anybody else in the last round of voting. It's our fault...we didn't get the vote out against Lukas!! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Speaking of Canadian Idol....is "smarmy" an adjective applicable to Ben Mulroney? 'Shell...if SN were playing in my living room I'd hide in the basement -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

The losers are indeed the winners....and winning couldn't happen to a better guy..Lukas. one hit....'Shell I think you're getting carried away with their possibilities. I can't see these guys doing anything that will be a hit. It was interesting..way better than the mindless pap of Canadian Idol for instance. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Dilana will tour with them...singing for the House band who will be opening the shows. She is also going to get Gilby and Dave's help in recording a cd when the tour is over....I think she is better off as she won't be associated forever with these guys. They also made a comment that with her singing they became more of the backup and they wanted someone who would be more part of the band. The song they did at the end with lukas was truly terrible...the music was bad, the vocals worse. It was interesting...I will be watching to see what Dilana does in the future. I think she will be heard from again. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

So, it is all over. I thought all the performances tonight were mediocre. There wasn't one that I liked. But the worst one was performed by Lukas with his new band. I listened for about 20 seconds and turned off the tv. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Hey! I know who "won". But I'm not going to ruin it for the West Coasters. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

The loss can be overwhelming at times when you lose someone important to you....but I think you have to remember how lucky you were to have them as long as you did and remember them with fondness and love. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I thought Dilana was much better tonight and as already stated really liked Roxanne. Do you think that if they picked her they'd be more of her "backup band" than if they picked anybody else? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I missed Toby's performances. Of what I saw, I enjoyed Dilana's "Roxanne" the most. The rest...I got up and did stuff. Didn't care for anything Magni did...Hush by Deep Purple...the band was smoking but he didn't keep up. The way they went on about Lukas...I think they might actually choose him. I had to laugh when Jason was crowing about having 3 shows sold out...hahaha...if they were any huge interest they'd ALL be sold out. I don't think they are playing in huge venues either. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

He just poked out #55 (Friday Sep 6) in the sixth inning and #56 later on!!! If you throw out the steroid records of McGuire, Bonds and Sosa more home runs than 56 has only been done 8 times according to this list. He's in pretty elite company... -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Here's an article about the possible upgrade-ability. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Are you surprised? A bunch of has-beens (or never beens as far as wide scale recognition) using a TV show to relaunch some sort of a carreer? Frank Zappa and the Mothers said it in about 1968.....We're Only In It For The Money -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I also read somewhere (can't find the article now) that the video card may be upgradeable...which would be a first for an iMac. Do you know if that is correct? This machine seems to be straddling the lines between the Pro and Consumer machines. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Just learned the 24" model has Firewire800 as well as FW400. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Yep. Like JTVal said, Lukas is creepy -- not DaveNavarro-Creepy, but creepy none-the-less. Plus he can't sing worth shit. I say go Toby ... 'Shell Right now, I think Toby has the best chance. But so what! Would any of us lay down our hard-earned bucks to see Supernova? I can't see them lasting past whatever tour dates they have booked. I don't think they would generate much interest if it weren't for this show. Would any of the remaining 4 interest you enough to buy a ticket to see them with SN? Would I spend my money to see them? Which one might get me interested enough? Maybe Dilana...Lukas...fuck NOOOO!.....Magni - Reminds me too much of Sting after going solo..a tad pretentious.....Toby...Maybe. I think they will pick Toby. May God have mercy on him... -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I missed the show tonight....I turned it on just in time to learn who got punted...which I won't share but I'd like to hear what went on. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Apple just released the new 24" iMac. All the iMac models now have the new Intel Core 2 Duo processors and the 17" and 20" models got a bit of a price cut. Bit of a surprise but that 24" machine looks pretty sweet. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Dilana tore a calf muscle, was carried out onto the stage, did "Behind Blue Eyes" and an original. Both pretty good. Magni did "Back in the USSR" and an original and rocked both of them. Storm did "Suffragette City" Dave Navarro joined her on guitar and an original that SN loved. I didn't care for her performances that much. Lukas did "Living on a Prayer" ...very slow version. and an original that gave me the yawns but SN loved it. Toby did ?? I can't remember but his original was a great performance as far as audience participation and interaction. SN was impressed with how he engages the audience...something that they will need. I think he and Magni are now the front runners. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
