  1. Like a Wings? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  2. There must be a link to this somewhere, if there is, could you post it? Maybe just provide what labs did the testing and we can look it up for ourselves. Yes, many of us have heard about this and even a few have seen it first hand. I've seen dacron, spectra and the old kevlar do it as well. In response to your last statement. Did the dacron, spectra and the old kevlar look brand new too? This is just a question, not confronting you... I've heard the same about HMA (that it looks brand new and then snaps). -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  3. Doesn't the protrack have accelerometers? or does it just use atmospheric pressure? Anyway, couldn't you get your acceleration just by (double) differentiating your velocity curve from the protrack? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  4. 5000 for a complete rig, not just a container.... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  5. 2-3 inches??! That's a mite big isn't it? I know I got chewed out for putting 2" line stows in some student gear. I use about 1.5" stows on my personal gear. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  6. Thanks for that S! -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  7. I'm a cessna kid. My sucky exits were at 10k, and I was recovered by 9. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  8. Shit yeah! Good for you. You know that you're aware in the air. 'tis always a good start :) -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

  10. I nearly laughed my cup of tea over my keyboard! -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  11. I would try streamers. Note: I did this once. I told the DZSO (S&TA) what I was doing, and he was cool with it, but I neglected to tell the other person on the jump what I was doing (instructor ~2000 jumps) I had a white streamer. Unfortunately, it broke off at about 10' in length. The (in the air) instructor thought that I was trailing my reserve bridle.... I felt sort of sheepish after that.... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  12. Cool! Did you conciously wait to get belly to earth before you pulled, or did it just happen that way? I've seen people do front flips on exit and dumped on their back an fliped through their risers... Not all that pretty. I've dumped on my back once, not very good. Big thumbs up to you. Keep at it! -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  13. Welcome to my world. I can't gve you exact number, because my logbook isn't here, but I sucked at my exits between about jumps 10 and 30. I learn't by SL, and after my 12 s delays, i went into a legkicking problem and I just couldn't exit properly. They tried everything. Poised exits, hanging exits, dive exits, linked exits... I could recover really quickly and carry on with the skydive, but I couldn't nail the exit. Then one day I did a poised exit and everything just clicked. I havnae looked back. Stick with it. You'll get there. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  14. 1) Don't know. I'm leaning towards still whuffo. 2) Definatley not. You're a jumper. Some may call you a cardigan, but you're not a whuffo. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  15. and for those of use that don't get Parachutist? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  16. I take it you're not very big on statistical mechanics then eh, chemist? Don't you know that chemists only take three data points? That way you can always find some graph paper that will let you put a straight line through them :) . That's a joke peoples...... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  17. Looks nice. The canopy, not the landing..... I'm think about getting a Lotus for my next canopy, in about a year or so.... Can you elaborate on your feelings for it? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  18. I've got a 105e. I use a Waycool Blue eye lens (x0.45). To setup: I have everything on auto. Auto exposure, auto focus... I put on my lens. I press the "focus" button. This changes the focus to manual. Note: Don't touch the focus ring now. It will change the focus. I then change my exposure mode to Beach and Ski. Once all of that is done, you don't need to touch anything. Of course, I'm just interested in getting video, not optimising everythin (yet, anyway...) -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  19. Where did you mount your secondary release? At my DZ, the main and secondary relases are near the laterals, at the bas of the container. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  20. I LOVE roundabouts! In the Pre-Kid Era we rented a Fiat Punto in Rome. And when in Rome, drive like the Romans do! I'm mostly concerned about looking left for oncoming traffic and getting hit by a bus. :) I like roundabouts. Do you have them in the US? I haven't seen them when I was there, but I didn't get around all that much.... They're much better than those silly 4-way stop intersections. How crap are they? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  21. Here is my alti.ani. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  22. That's some pretty good flying! -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  23. These guys use a Navajo http://www.waskydiving.com.au Don't know what the door is like, I've only jumped it once. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  24. That's about right. A real impact absorbing helmet would have shattered on impact. It would have absorbed the impact, instead of passing it onto your head. The fact that it is still in one piece demonstrates that it it shit for protecting your head in an impact, and therefore only good for keeping the wind out of your hair, and your dytter in your ear. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  25. When's Mumbles? It's not on my calendar.... I wouldn't feel confident asking him now anyway. I'm not all that current. No jumps in a month, and it doesn't look like I'll be getting any in the next month either... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
