  1. I haven't. But I've read reports in the Australian Skydiving Mag re birdstrikes in free fall. One guy had stiches and a bird claw removed from his face. Another guy had a small bird (sparrow size) impaled in the visor of his helmet. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  2. If you're after the handcam glove, try http://www.waycool.com.au/ -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  3. Not that I'm going to be jumping a BM suit for the next 200ish jumps.... I'm interested in what happens before your first pic. How did he get out? I have a pic in my head, but I don't know how feasible that is... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  4. 0:8:2 Did my 100th this weekend. I also did my first jump with a tandem. Last load of the day, TM, student and myself on the load. 'twas quite nice. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

How many jumps have you got? . But I do like my Cessna. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

  7. Why can't it autoclicky? If something is "www.something.com" or "http://hereiam.com" can't the BB detect this and make it clicky by itself? Just wondering. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  8. I think he's referring to "standard" seperation with "normal" winds from a "regular" acft. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  9. Has anyone got any pics of the rig? sounds like fun... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  10. V nice But you went to all that trouble to fill it with a water substitute? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  11. From our OpRegs: 9.1.1. A person shall not act as a parachute instructor, tutor or jumpmaster unless he/she is the holder of a valid APF instructor or tutor rating and then only within the privileges of the ratings and endorsements held. 9.1.10. Jumps made outside the auspices of APF may not be used to qualify for, requalify for or maintain currency of an APF Instructor or Tutor rating or endorsement except with the written authority of the Director Instructors. So basically, you need the permission of the Director Instructors and be member of the APF to act as an instructor. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  12. In Oz it's 16 for solo and 14 for tandem. Those are minimum ages and both require parental/guardian consent. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  13. Thats what I'd call it. I love H'nP's. I was brought up on static line, so that probably has something to do with it. My idea of a H'nP is a poised exit, arch, dump. A five second delay is exactly that, a 5 sec delay. I've heard stories about AFF students (off student status) being afraid to get out of the acft below their opening altitude (ie ~3k) -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  14. - have and display one or more tattoos no - smoke and often require at least one cigarrette between loads no - have body piercings (ears don't count anymore) no - can drink heavily in the evening and be on the first load the next morning not really. I didn't drink 'til I started skydiving, and I only drink when I'm skydiving... - are ectomorphic or, at least, fall on the ectomorphic side of mesomorphism got me there... - have some kind of attitude (doesn't really matter what kind probably... - come across as a bit touched (and by touched, I mean crazy) no idea... - live a relatively non-materialistic lifestyle (money isn't good for much except jumps and beer!) most probably - live in the present (can't really execute emergency procedures if you're daydreaming about the future, now, can you?) depends... - live from jump to jump (always thinking about that next fix) not really - consider themselves good looking (the guys) and have skydiving SOs (the gals) that are good looking ummm, no - seem to actually live (!) at the drop zone no - can easily pack in 10 minutes or less (mostly, it appears, because their canopy is about the size of a trashbag) i can pack in ~20-30 - have a seemingly unending source of money (maybe something illegal going on here, like in that documentary CUTAWAY about that cop... what's his name... Stephen Baldwin or something) I'm a student on a scholarship, living at home. I have to spend it on something. - (some) inexplicably live nomadic lifestyles (how high do you have to exit to actually reach the next DZ?) no -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  15. Depends on where the ripcord is. I had a chest mounted ripcord. v. easy to see... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  16. but they are easy to sneak up on. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  17. I haven't seen one in a couple of weeks. There's nothing wrong with a chest mounted ripcord. I learnt with one, and I'm still around. I've done a few more jumps since converting to BOC on those rigs. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  18. Sorry to rain on your parade Jasmin, but electrocution is death by electricity. . As to LN2, I can tell you that it's hard to walk in frozen boots. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  19. I've made and dropped WDIs. I've done ~90 jumps out of my 94 from C182s. . Aggie, only 4 jumpers in a 182? all of the 182s I've been in (4) could carry 5 jumpers. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  20. I don't push the nose in much at all. I don't roll it either. Neither do I quarter my slider, I pull it all the way out front and put it in front of the nose. Out of about 20ish jumps, I've had on brisk (but not hard) opening. This is the way my rigger showed me to pack it. I do roll the tail a bit though. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  21. WHat version of Windows are you running? In WXP, I do this to redo file associations: From My Computer, then "Tools", then "Folder Options", then "File types" Scroll down to Microsoft Excel Worksheet (XLS extention), and you should be able to change you file associations by clicking on "Change" -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  22. I've figured it out.... Not because it looks photoshopped... Because Val has a look of pure, unadulterated pleasure on her face, and her hottie has a MUWHAHAHAHAHA (evil laugh) grin on his. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  23. I like the exit photo... Don't know why though... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  24. First pack of ZP (been practicing on F111) and First jump on first pack job and First jump on new rig and First Hop-and-pop to finish "A" quals... One beer. First RW/Docking for "A" quals... One beer. Two beers total. Cartons that is. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  25. I disagree with this. You have more resistence if its baggy. You have less if its tight, its even faster if its tight and ZP material. If you normally fall slow, you'll need a tight suit to minimise your air resistance If you normally fall fast, you'll need a baggy suit to maximise your air resistance -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
