The lowest that I have been open was 1400, after a 3way launch from 4k. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

You can get an honourable mention... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

I normally dump at about 3ish. On my last few jumps that I did with camera, you can hear my dytter going off for 2500 when I'm under canopy. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

Why the 45 degree method does not work (long)
masher replied to billvon's topic in Safety and Training
That is a neat video Bill. I'll have to bring it to the DZ next time I go... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies -
But if you conspire to do more than one first in a jump, then you owe beer for the firsts that you conspired to do. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

I think that another very pertinant question is how many pack jobs by packers _didn't_ malfunction. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

I plan. I also tend to be a little pedantic when I plan. Apparantly, I think too much. Well, that's what Melissa says.... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

180 first go. 369 second go. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

I think skymama had some info from a canopy control seminar person about body position during opening. Can't remember details though.... . edit: Here it is -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

Tandem Instructor Poll: Removal Of Student Seatbelt
masher replied to slotperfect's topic in Instructors
Where do you sit? We have a 182, and when there are tandems, the TM is pretty much always behind their student. When they aren't, the student is strapped in. When they are, they're hooked up with one top clip, which is undone at a safe altitude. Do you adjust the student's harness in the plane? The students at our DZ have their harness put on "properly" (ie no further adjustment necessary) on the ground. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies -
Tandem Masters- do you tip your packer or pilot
masher replied to Chiquita's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What is this American fascination with tipping? Why do you voluntarily give people more money then they charge for a service? I buy a coffee from a coffee shop, I pay what it costs. Why should I give them money to bring it to my table? . Please note: This is a serious question, and is not intended to cause offense.... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies -
Yes, I was the low person. Cool Someone before asked if hookitt should have chopped first. I was just clarifying... damn speeling... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

re cutting away from wraps.... Isn't it a _general rule_ that the low person cutsaway first? This is my understanding from just talking about it at the DZ. No formal CReW instruction or experience here.... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

ask, and ye shall recieve! within reason, of course....

Ok... I was just trying to do everything.... I'm still stoked that it all worked! -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

oops... I meant actually getting everyone in frame on climbout... The actual exit was in frame. Just my timing was off.. I don't care, really. It's my first camera jump. . When my next jumps comes around, I'll see what I can do. See if it _was_ a fluke or not... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

Just what I was going to say. I have a PC105 (don't know if that makes a difference) I dragged and dropped the reticule using windows, and it didn't show up. I D&Ded using sony software and it didn't work. Renamed it to DSC... and it did. By the way quade, thanks for the reticule. It did help with the aiming. I did my first camera jump last weekend, and pretty much all of the jump is in frame, except for the exit (couldn't get my head around far enough...) -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

If you disconnect the RSL, you also disconnect the Skyhook system. The reserve then won't (shouldn't ?) open until you pull the ripcord. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

Bill Can I put two scenarios to you, just to make sure I understand what you're talking about. #1 Winds at height = 20 kn. Airspeed = 70 kn. Acft is flying directly into wind -> groundspeed = 50 kn Winds at opening height (say 3k) = 10 kn in the same directions as the uppers. groundspeed + opening height headwind = effective speed 50 + 10 = 60 kn (60 kn = 100 fps) seperation = effective speed * exit timing seperation = 100 * 10 =1000' (10 seconds for 1000') #2 Winds at height = 20 kn. Airspeed = 70 kn. Acft is flying directly into wind -> groundspeed = 50 kn Winds at opening height (say 3k) = 10 kn in the opposite direction to the uppers. groundspeed + opening height headwind = effective speed 50 + -10 = 40 kn (40 kn ~ 70 fps) seperation = effective speed * exit timing seperation = 70 * 15 =1050' (15 seconds for 1000') -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

I have acquired a camera helmet and camera, which I took for its first jump on Saturday. I also got myself a gf too... They are most recent acquisitions. I did get another jumpsuit for Christmas, does that count? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

Ok, I looked, I swear I did...... Weekend Numbers 2/20 - 2/22
masher replied to DJatLarge's topic in The Bonfire
:5:1 5 jumps this weekend, including a free one -> canopy demo for some students. I jumped my camera for the first time, so beer for that.... Footage turned out pretty good too! -- Arching is overrated - Marlies -
When we take up S/L students, all off them are hooked up before the plane takes off. Haven't seen IAD in action, so... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
