Big-way, hard pull, reserve, biplane, tree landing
payback462 replied to dgrabowski's topic in Safety and Training
whatever, i really dont fucking care. i was just trying to point out what is KNOWN GOOD INFORMATION. that climbing down from a tree landing is a bad idea. this has nothing to do with how many skydives a person has. if he had fallen out of the tree, split his fucking head open and gotten brain goo all over the inside of his helmet everyone would be singing a very different song. -
Big-way, hard pull, reserve, biplane, tree landing

i know two guys that decided to do insanely low intentional cutaways from skyhook tersh rigs. i know a guy who base jumped an 88ft firetruck ladder. they both walked away fine, but they were still VERY BAD IDEAS!! just because a person ends up uninjured doesnt mean they made a good decision my point is, when it comes to climbing out of a tree after landing in it, unless you can touch the ground with your feet, dont do it! ive had two friends recently get very badly injured because they fell out of a tree, so this kind of hits home a little harder then usual. btw im pretty sure the only reason it took the fire dept so long to get there was because someone else had landed in a tree at the other side of the woods a few loads before that. (i swear our dz doesnt have THAT many tree landings ) -

i witnessed this jump, i dont really have anything to add as far as the skydive part, but id like to say something as far as the tree landing. climbing down from the tree was stupid. people have died from doing this. the williamstown fire company is VERY good at getting people out of trees (infact they have their own skydiver lowering device (snaps onto big 3ring) my point is NO ONE should EVER try to climb down from a tree if they land in it. youll feel like a real jackass if you die falling ten feet out of a tree after just surviving a fall out of a plane people arent monkeys, dont climb trees! edited to add: i reread my post and it seemed kinda harsh toward the jumpers actions, i just want to point out that my motivation wasnt to criticize the jumper for their actions but merely to make sure other people dont do what they did -

i bought all new as i was on the same type of demo program as you are. if i could do it again id only buy a new container. a container thats made exactly for you definetaly is worth the money. as far as mains i ended up selling my new one (which didnt match) after putting a couple hundred jumps on it and buying used.

yeah, but then your rig doesnt fit as good!
-
but he also bought himself a neptune today, so its OK! besides he has almost all the skydiving toys you could want
-
my thoughts exactly, it just serves as a reminder to us all that we arent made of rubber!
-
yup, i coulda sworn this morning that it could be done, but i tried it today, and obviously, i couldnt do it thats what i get for posting tired.

im not EXACTLY sure how the whole reprimand process works (hmmm think ill ask my local dpre if i see him today!), but basically if you fuck up, at all, you run the risk of the next rigger sending a letter to the FAA and them revoking your riggers ticket. this isnt to say that we arent human and we dont make mistakes, but something as blatantly obvious as this, needs to be thouroughly discussed with the person who did it, after that an appropriate course of action can be taken. i know some riggers are hardasses and wont even say a word to the person who packed it wrong, theyll just send a letter to the FAA, thats just petty and dumb, this sport is all about learning, and we all make mistakes, some of them get noticed before its a problem, some of them kill us, but if we dont talk about them openly, the same mistakes will kill more people, again and again
-
its possible to do that with the rig assemled, im not quite awake right now so i cant remember exactly HOW to get it that way, but i know i see it all the time when packing rental and student gear. (i think its just the rig passed inbetween the risers.) on mains i just pop that sides cutaway cable and flip the riser, thats why i cant remember right now without a rig infront of me either way thats rediculous. thats something that just running the lines would have caught.

actually, that was the original orientation of the pic although my body and most of my canopy got chopped off of the ends, but thatll happen when you go nuts with the zoom i still like spoodles, even though its really the thing they use at wawa to dish out meatballs.
-
whats that got to do with it?
-
ughh, gawd, i think i just threw up a litttle!!! it rocks stop worrying about the pop-top!!!!!
-
you should change your avatar to those sexy spooodles you wear. mr, "stick that in the bag and ill slide 50 feet on my bum!!!" i know, im mean, but in all fairness it was quite satisfying to see you eat it

Are you a good judge of character? (skydive related)
payback462 replied to WrongWay's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
im a firm believer in the helmet sticker theory as far as judging character, and it plays out into any sport where a helmet is used, the more stickers they have on the helmet, the more scared they are! laugh all you want, but you know its true. -

i can definetaly relate! -
so today i totally got my ass handed to me by my kite. i got a gust of about 40 or so that picked me up about 6feet off the ground and about 15 feet foreward (was sitting in my butt) and ended up dropping me right on my head when my head hit the ground it kinda went all white then the color started fading back in, but i was with it the entire time. pretty much the same thing that happened last time i smacked my head really hard now i have this MASSSIVE headache and im pretty sure i knocked some brains loose ughhhh it hurts!!!! although i gotta admit however embarrasing it was it was still kindof fun

payback462 replied to dubbayab's topic in General Skydiving Discussions

payback462 replied to dubbayab's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
she took the risk, she obviously knew IT WASNT SAFE and could SERIOUSLY INJURE OR KILL her, so no, you shouldnt sue, besides that you wont get jack-shit out of anybody anyway.
