i use my cypress temp pin to tie the risers together at the temp pin, i need it to close the container so i have to take it off the risers to close it. i also use clamps (not exactly something you could really leave on there and get it in the freebag anyways but) after the canopy is in the bag i make a spaceship shape with them so that i know i have all five. i also line up my tools next to me the same exact way every time after im done closing a rig. once i lay out the tools i need to pack a rig, my kit stays shut until im done, if i find out i need a different tool i write it down on my sheet and cross it off once its back in my bag. yeah yeah, it takes FOREVER (if you think thats bad you should watch me flake em) but it works for me.

plus the extra few inches youd have to lengthen the loop!

i mangled the crap out of a temp pin on my personal rig, i was compressing the PC and put all my weight (more then enough) on the spring before i took the pin out, mangled the crap out of the pin. checked the spring and grommet, got a new temp pin and finished it.

i suggest before you make outrageous claims like this you do a search http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/sfo/13028015.html http://funreports.com/2003/06/24/48624.html http://pages.ivillage.com/errandangel/id30.html thats true, at least in this country, but you sure can get a really close imitation! http://www.realdoll.com/

ACOUSTIC! i started out on bass, then some guitar,(then bought many, many thousands of dollars of high end amps toys and gadgets) then sold it all but my fretless to skydive, then i got some money and the chance to do it right, so i went and got a TAYLOR! get a baby taylor, they can be had for around $300 at most places and around $260 from musicians friend. a little more then ibanez but the value for your dollar isnt even close. ive never picked up a taylor that didnt sound awesome or play perfectly. that, a hardshell case, a humidifier, a quality tuner and some picks, and youve got all you need to LEARN and nothing to DISTRACT you (except a beeeutiful geetar) although what do i know, i just figured out i like harmonica better anyways!

payback462 replied to kallend's topic in Safety and Training

Non-lethal weapons AND sports assholes...
payback462 replied to TypicalFish's topic in Speakers Corner
dont sound like she was out of the way to me! its pretty obvious when the police show up, unless you plan on ending your night with a trip to the police station or the hospital, that its time for you to find someplace else to celebrate. unless they riot over a GAME, and fuck up other peoples shit, then they deserve at least death, maybe torture first, because they obviously have NO lives and only steal air from the rest of us. shit like this needs to be stopped before it starts, things like dry stadiums and dry stadium parking lots, and no entrance to the parking lot unless you have a ticket. although in towns like boston its even harder with thousands of drunk horny college students living a few hundred feet from the stadium. of course that might quickly lead to an end of all stadium sports when people realize that theyve been getting so goddamn loaded that they didnt realize the pastime they loved has turned into a big whore house. ITS A GAME people, a game your not even a part of! get over it and get a life asshole! -

i dont really have any idea what it was, but ive had the same thing happen to me on my vengeance a bunch of times (someone else also had the same situation on a different vengeance), its always cleared itself though. id suggest sending it back to the manufacturer since its a new canopy. also did he roll the nose??

Anyone else ever catch a bird in their canopy?
payback462 replied to ManBird's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
somebody got a seagull caught in their lines at the PST in wildwood this year, i guess you could tecnically call them birds (or crap machines) -
think you're an exceptional student? Read this
payback462 replied to jdfreefly's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
i dont think that can be said enough. i read it on another incident report somewhere. "you have your whole life ahead of you to skydive, unless you get a canopy too aggresive for your skill level." incase your all wondering, im AL on that thread. i didnt really mean too act like that much of a pootie head, but im sooooo sick of this same storyline being played out again, and again, and again. being at the dz everygoddamn day (as im sure any of you who've ever worked at a dz before know) gets you pretty jaded to the "look at me, im a special little flower crap" your not, your a goddamn human lawndart, waiting for its coordinates. been there, done that, spent my share of time bouncing off the ground like gumby and picking dirt out of my teeth. (now i just brush the dirt off my butt) i never thought i would turn into such a canopy nazi, but i guess learning from my mistakes makes me appreciate the more conservative approach, and to me thats what the whole thing was about, learning from mistakes made, not sugarcoating it. you fucked up, now your fucked up, get a bigger parachute and try it again. and if you havent hurt yourself yet, and people are telling you your going to, go read as many incident reports as possible, and see how many say some thing like "jumper had been warned about their, behavior/choices) theyres quite a few of them. -
PD-160 1.5:1 voodoo-V4 flew as would be expected, didnt have much glide, easy to sink, very predictable, didnt drop me on my ass. two break fires, one resulting in a locked toggle and another in spinning linetwists. (also have another ride on a pd-176 on rental gear, flew about the same.)

Decible levels in freefall? In the aircraft?
payback462 replied to Deuce's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
if you can afford custom ones GET THEM, but if you cant GET SOMETHING. i ALWAYS wear earplugs on the ride to altitude and ussually in freefall (i larkshead the leash to my goggles so i can pop them out under canopy.) i want to eventually get a set of cusom ones from this company http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/erme.asp they have 3 filters with different attenuation levels. i have their er-20s http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er20.asp and their the bomb dizzle! its like turning the volume knob down. and with the clear stems you can barely see them. as far as decibel levels i dont know exact numbers but i do know that the skyvan is somewheres around 130dB which is INSTANT damage. the otters, kingairs, and cessnas arent much quieter. ive become a freak about wearing them lately i wear them pretty much all the time at the DZ and i have a bag of the less expensive (but still as good) foam ones for people who are cheap. ive really noticed my hearing getting much more sensitive since starting to wear them frequently. either way, (and this is aimed at everybody) get SOMETHING to protect your hearing make sure it has an NRR rating http://shop.store.yahoo.com/earplugstore/gennoisprot1.html#Hearing%20Protection%20Basics learn how to use them properly! (i.e. put them all the way in) and remember to wear them!! -
Do you Voodoo? Tell me about your rig!
payback462 replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in Gear and Rigging
what about it dont you like? i personally like it the best, other then the new velcroless ones on the G4 (but then the g4 is fugly) -
i think the best part is that he actually tried to do some moves with his nunchcks after he bounced back up!
-
in a thick new york accent "that guy, he looks like a goddamn teddybear hamptser" "please turn down the techno, its annoying the bigway" and of course "that shit aint funny man"
-
like you said your rig could come off. some peoples rigs fit well enough that they probably wouldnt come off their shoulders if they have a nice soft opening. although in this case the jumper was a very small female in a harness that seemed maybe one yoke size too big for her.
-
today on the last load of the day i noticed that a fun jumper visiting our DZ had misrouted their chest strap. (just through the buckle and around it too the elastic keeper) they didnt speak very good english so i just leaned over, put my hand through it and yanked it till it came out, the jumper said thanks but didnt seem all too worried about the fact that they came real close to being an incident. ive always looked around the plane at handles straps and flaps, up until now ive only seen minor things wrong. but today definetaly freaked me out please check your handles, flaps, straps and pins!!! also be looking out for problems on other peoples gear as well, and dont be afraid to say something if you have a concern.

looks more to me like when they closed it there was more of the bulk on the left side then the right side. not hard to do with a rig that has the closing loop on the bottom. look at how the left side looks like its bulging out. and the bottom flap kinda pivots on the loop because the bag is too far to the left. theyres also a bulge in the left side of the rig and a divot in the right. i bet if he shortened his closing loop a little bit his rig would look fine.
-
a smooth surface, like linolium, or painted concrete. but id rather buy a new parachute every couple thousand jumps then new knees
-
i use 1500lb spectra for my closing loop. i make it double sided so that when one side wears out i just take it out and turn it around! and if both brake i can just quickly grab one of the loops for a strong tandem. plus you dont need a washer on the loop then
