if that was the case, then i personally would offer to go help them look for their freebag, and offer to give them a repack/pay for their repack. if it was someone working under my supervision id probably hand them an application to the wal-mart down the street.

yeah, but thats ok, because you bought your beer, learned from it, and have the chigger scars to prove it when you coming back out to the DZ fool!

the more i watch other people pack, the more and more im convinced that packing a malfuntion is almost impossible. as long as the canopy is oriented properly, brakes are set, the slider is up, the PC is cocked, and the container is closed properly, the shits gonna open. people just learning to pack prove it, time and time again. (and even missing some of those steps it still manages to open) and if you freak out and chop because you had two linetwists on a big, docile canopy, you still need to pay the packer. never managed to pack a packer induced malfuntion myself

probably not, since neither of those places actually exist, and are just a scam.

dunno the exact specs, but its around 4.5" overall its made of S30V stainless steel, a powdered steel from Crucible pretty much the best stainless steel available (i personally think bg-42 is better, but then again, give me 1095 over that stainless stuff anyday) itll hold an edge for a long, long time (not that id wanna use a hook knife for everyday utility) as far as sharpening, its possible but would require some skill and the right tool for the job. edited to add pic

Teens Leaping For Thrills In 'Garage Jumping' Trend
payback462 replied to wildblue's topic in The Bonfire
what it should say if i had it my way. i wonder how long it takes retards like that to realize that the things they see on tv and the internet arent real? and i wonder if their parents ever tried simply turning off the TV, sitting down with their children, and hitting them? -
hey, nobody talks that way about walter!! "You want a toe? I can get you a toe. Believe me. There are ways, Dude. You don't want to know about it, believe me. Hell, I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock this afternoon. With nail polish." so a person with a funny avatar isnt allowed to think deep thoughts?

its not about what i do or dont eat. its about realizing that all living things are connected and realizing that we need to appreciate the sacrifice of other living things so that we may live. on a lighter note i DONT eat sausage, for some reason it makes me puke!!!

i have an ozone kite made from porcher marine skytex sailcloth, while its a great material for kites and gliders, i doubt it would survive opening shock. i belive that icarus is using a similar material for their new ground launch canopies.

apples!!! green apples rock with the beer cheese one for the bread either use a baguette, since they could be used as a substitute baseball bat when theyre fresh, or make sure you get the bread a little in advance so you can let it get kinda hard, so that it wont fall apart as soon as it hits the cheese. you could also use pretzels with both cheese and chocolate. hell, anything that wont fall apart as soon as it hits the pot is fair game!

mmmmm, the melting potmmmmmmm wheres the drool icon?? step one: throw away all the peices to the fondue set other then the forks and fork holders Step two: buy double boiler and hotplate, works a fuckload better then that alcohol burning garbage if you notice thats what they used in the resturaunt also i lost all the links i had to recipies, but heres some i found the yahoo list http://dir.yahoo.com/society_and_culture/food_and_drink/cooking/recipes/specific_courses_and_dishes/fondue/ and the ultimate, best ever cheese recipe http://recipes.robbiehaf.com/B/559.htm

the plane itself looks fake, parts of it dissapear and reappear when its doing that close helicopter thing. on a side note, i recently saw a REAL video of an RC helicopter that was mind boggling, basically most of the same stuff just with a chopper. i cant find it though GRRR

Difficulty with chest strap after opening....
payback462 replied to WrongWay's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
from my experience id say yes its safer to have a tight chest strap while executing emergency procedures, but for me the perfomance and comfort gained by loosening it make it worth the risk. besides by loosening the cheststrap it makes self induced linetwists MUCH less likely (i found this out after having to cutaway from self induced linetwists) id be much more concerned about other situations that could result in me having to cutaway after loosening my chest strap/stowing slider i.e. collisions, wraps.. i should also mention that my harness isnt exactly a loose fit well anymore -
Problems with Bonehead buckle on chin strap?
payback462 replied to WrongWay's topic in Gear and Rigging

the manual says to the bottom, so thats pretty much the best answer your going to get. i personally put them to the bottom on mine and any that i pack as well. i remember a while back there was a few ideas for putting them with the lines up. ive heard a few reasons why, but mostly it was because it fits the shape better (fatter in the middle skinnier at the bottom.) personally ive closed it both ways and it looks exactly the same, and packs the same both ways.

Could this really happen to/with any other rig (long)
payback462 replied to feuergnom's topic in Gear and Rigging
thanks for the reply and clarification. that is what i had guessed from the location of the d-ring. (lower on chest area) it was definetaly not my intent to make light of the jumpers mistake, just to point out that it can infact happen, to ANYONE, and we should plan our emergency procedures accordingly. i suspect that jumper has some serious skill, and definetaly some luck! -

as i said above the video CLEARLY shows him tugging on his 3 ring, pause it and move it frame by frame, its right there. its hard for me to belive he would have his hand through his three ring, for any other reason that he simply mistook it for his reserve ripcord. -

payback462 replied to feuergnom's topic in Gear and Rigging
go back and watch the video, pause it and scroll through frame by frame, he puts his thumb through the big ring on his 3 ring after he cuts away, thinking thats his reserve, struggles to pull it, then pulls his thunb out, all the while his right hand is searching for it, then finally gets his reserve handle with his left hand and pulls it. it seems like the intention wasnt to pull on the lift web, but just that he didnt LOOK before putting his hand on what he thought was the reserve handle. good reinforcement to the training LOOK, locate...etc -
as a novice rigger, i find the wings reserve to not be any more difficult to pack then any other rig. some things about the wings i actually find easier then some other rigs, i.e. their freestow pocket is an awesome design, and eliminates the need for velcro line protectors, and their split bag is perfect since you need to really fill the ears of the bag. the biggest problem i see happening with wings containers is loose poptops because if packjob settling and climate changes, neither of which have been a problem on any of the rigs ive packed.

actually the webbing on wide leg pads is also wider then the webbing on narrow pads (i.e. on the narrow the webbing is just a single peice thick, and on the wide the webbing is staggered and almost twice as thick.) really i think comfort has more to do with the amount of padding then the width, my rig has the standards and its super comfy.

i use a checklist as well, but i like the box idea, I think im gonna use my few days off to find something like that for myself. sweet idea!
