    I actually fold mine back over... I go through the ctach and back (correctly) then stow the excess through the bungy bit. then I go back round the outside of the catch and stow any remainder underneath the bungy bit inside the chest strap. Chances of coming undone by accident - v. low. Tried to draw this in paint but looked shit so just imagine.     On my AFF my brother was given a gear check on the ground and his chest strap was exctly the same. I would be interested to know if the guy was an AFF student because if he was then it is the responsibility of his instructors to ensure that this has been checked prior to the jump. - IMHO I have seen various things caught in the UK on the gear check and a few in Australia in the plane so these things do happen. Make your own guidelines and follow them to ensure they don't happen to you. I found it odd at 35 jumps not having a compulsary gear check when I got to Aus and I actually think it is a good thing but I now ensure that all my shit is checked by the person I trust - me. Put it this way that guy will never do that again and nor will you so lesson learnt with no badness attached. CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people

    Question. If you have a PC in tow then by my understanding within the container (still closed) you have a closed D-bag and stowed lines; If you cut away then if the pressure release the pin the D-bag will fall away from the container if you are already under canopy. If you are still falling how would the container come open and allow the main to "get out of the bag"? Lots of "ifs" but trying to understand the sequence of events that led to this entanglement, from cutaway to it happening. CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people

    Obviously you know as you jump it but it seemed to me that that was not that long to play with it. My canopy takes longer to deploy than the time from pull to chop on that vid.     Caveat - not a BASE jumper but aspire to be... One of the coolest I have seen is (as fas as I am aware) the only ever jump off a rather prominent tower in Sydney, Aus. Looks to be late seveties if not earlier from the footage although i was a bit pissed when I saw it. The jumper exits a helicopter at c. 3K. Lands on the top of the tower (c. 1000 feet). Cuts away his main. Runs around like a fool for a bit then hoofs himself off and dumps his reserve. Lands in the park and cracks a bottle of Champagne open. Pretty badass in my book...     Interestingly the "long discussion" failed to yield a little known jumper called Phil Onis, DZO of Sydney Skydivers. He has at least 20,000 as i was at the DZ mooning him when he landed from his 20,000th over Xmas. Not bad for an Aussie hey? EDIT TO ADD: Obviously not up there with 34,000 but there where some claims as to third place being 17,000... And 19,874 more than me CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people

    Seen Bowling for Columbine. Did not contribute to the BfC thread though. It is probably because I have had such little contact with hand guns that I find it surprising.     The stupidest thing I ever said was on one of my AFF consolidation jumps. We were on our way to the top in Cessna 206 in Spain and it was really really hot so we still had the door open. Suddenly the plane spluttered and died and the pilot turns round and shouts "everybody get out". I panicked, looked at my JM and said "what do I do?" to which he calmly replied "Get out" before hoofing me out the door... I was under pressure OK. CJP Gods don't kill people.
