Rich. Good to see you are jumping - congratulations. There are indeed a number of incidents and reports on here but try to put them into perspective - this website tries to cover all of the incidents that happen all over the world so we can all learn from them. If there was a website detailing the accidents and fatalities involved in driving a car or riding a bike it would be infinitely busier and would probably scare the shit out of you too. That said, don't delude yourself that what we do is 100% safe. It is not but the control and overcoming of the calculated risks is one reason, for me anyway, that we do this. It can be disheartening to read loads of incident reports, and this week has had more than it's fair share, nut hopefully by reading, and understanding, we come closer to eliminating them alltogether. I just bought a Pro Dyter and having not used an audible before I was wondering what heights everyone has them set to. I normally dump at 3K so I have semy first to 4.5k (break off), second to 3.5K - prepare to deploy and 3rd to 2.5K - get a move on dude. Any thoughts... CJP Gods don't kill people. Agree with the Symbi suit plan - I have one that is great (even if I did trash the knee the first time I jumped it due to a spectacular PLF). I know the pain of not being able to find a jump suit - it is so annoying. Anyway just one word of warning - order it and order it now. Mine took, big deep breath in... 15 weeks to arrive...! You can fork out extra cash to get them quicker but they still take a while - especially mid summer. However when you start doing Warp having your own suit is a big help. CJP Gods don't kill people. Good thing my instructor taught me: Always get into the plane ready to get out. Why would a static instructor not get in with a rig on - mine always did. When the aircraft starts to malfunction how long will you wait for the guy desperately trying to get his rig on because he ran to the plane with it slung over his shoulder... Mind you - accidents do happen and it is a shame about this guy - i heard he had a belly camera that he could have mistaked for his chest mounted reserve. Blue Skies CJP Gods don't kill people. Something I read in a post by Mama (I think) about Head Honcho still forking out most of the dough for this website got me thinking would we all mind paying to be here - just a nominal sum. We spend lots of time here and it is a cool place to be and meet people so why not pay. I suppose some will think that the right to freedom of information justifies non payment but as we all appreciatte these things aint free. So what is the verdict. I am off to the pub to play darts soon so I expect to see a fun and lively discussion when I get back... edit to add: If you say depends how much or yes then suggest a price. i reckon $10-$20 a year maybe. Gd one BV from someone you've never met. Would be interested to know more: How many jumps did she have? Much RW? Jumped with her before? What happened to her? Was she ill? Grounded?
