Puppy on A Stick Story - not for animal lovers. My mate John tells a great (?) story about eating Deep Fried Puppy whilst in Vietnam. Apparently it was that or Rat. Anyway they took the little waggy puppy out of a cage. Tickled it so that it rolled over. Cleft it in Twain with a bastard great cleaver. Removed innards and then deep fried it on a stick. John claimed it was quite nice except the head and the fur. By the way before I get sent death threats I by no means condone this action and have a dog of my own. He is very tasty. I remember when I joined University a guy called Rob was in charge of the University Skydiving Club. At the freshers fair (as the event was known) he had a table trying to raise members for the skydiving club. They raised about 1000 members all of whom paid the up front £10 fee to join - do the maths. That year around 10 people did their AFF courses. The rest of the money went on paying for jumps for the club chairman and his mates. They even had a trip to the states. All in all a pretty good club to be chairman of. I am sure it is not immoral to take some money to cover "admin" and then spend it on the half dozen or so of you that jump. As long as those who truly express an interest are able to jump too. I was just checking the "Scary Stories..." thread, as I am wont to do, and I saw AD's reply about compiling them into a book. So I started to wonder what it could be called; then i thought, wow I could waste mine and other peoples time by posing this as a question. Went to the DZ - it was blowing at least 30 knots in gusts I reckon. A few tandems were up wth about 6 catchers per tandem. One cutaway on landing. Watching the Van take off was comedy as as soon as wheels were off it lurched about 30 degrees to the left. Then it had to land on a cross run way that i have never seen used as it was too windy to get down on the other runway (cross wind) Nearly got blown off my bike on the ride home. Picked up my Super 10 (Stunt Kite) and went down the beach. Got picked up and thrown about 20 feet within 30 seconds of getting the kite up. Managed to play a bit with it - although it was so tough but then I bust one of my lines - which considering they have a 300lb break strength is not half bad. All in all a windy but fun weekend. Oh and I watched 5 films on Saturday. CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people

Richard You are doing better than I did on Statics. I got four jumps in in 5 months and about 12/13 trips to the DZ. It was Netheravon on Salisbury plain and the wind was generally over. Eventually I decided to suck the cost and went to spain to do my AFF. 1 week in the sun and 17 jumps later and I was 1 jump off students status. - Is there any way you could transfer your current skills to AFF? Maybe start at level 4 with one JM. That way it will be less frustrating and you will get off student status quicker - mind you if the winds are dodgy then make a decision anyway - my 20 metres dragged backwards across the DZ on jump 20 taught me that just because I could jump doesn't mean I should. It is pretty straightforward really - they are just not used to it. I am English and when the temp hits these kinds of levels everything stops - people just don't know how to deal with it. We don't have air con as standard because we don't need it. I am now in Australia and the flat I live in doesn't have central heating, or heating of any kind - why not? Because it is mid winter here at the moment and it is 20 odd degrees C. France isn't "a step up from being a third world country" but in the country there are poorer areas that are a lot more basic. It is a tragedy these people have died, especially when it is avoidable but it is due to ignorance more than anything. And comparing it to 911 is unbeleivable.. CJP Gods don't kill people. I can't believe I left before all the fun started... I was on the same load as "Hoop 1" and it was about 2.5 feet in diameter, maybe three at a push. That's why it broke I assume.
