Hillary furious as thousands of Americans send cigars to her office
rehmwa replied to Driver1's topic in Speakers Corner
it's less a reminder of Bill's misdeeds, rather it's more of a reminder that she, for political expediency, had to publicly take it and act like it was just fine yet contributing to the wounded warrior project is a pretty decent thing - it's not a new thing to see petty gestures in politics at candidates at all - from either side ... Hillary furious as thousands of Americans send cigars to her office

Waste of time, I suspect. Even hard core democrats don't like her. She starts the campaign noting that she owns a (once functional) vagina. That's her only campaign platform so far. She follows up with a basic philosophy that thinks government needs to provide so much to the people (right or wrong) and yet she doesn't trust the government with even her e-mail. Dems can do better, and hopefully with someone that's just not so objectionable to listen to either. She has horrible stage presence. on the other hand - both parties seem to do very poorly in whoever they pick. So tired of trying to choose between two horrible candidates. ... I'd rather find out if the observations have some chain of correlation and if it's fascinating or trivial. 1 - People should be able to pair up any way they choose. 2 - Government shouldn't be involved in those choices in any way other than one - to help ensure that people leave each other alone to make those choices as individuals. No benefits or penalties for either person vs as if they were living single. Frankly, I'd just as much think that the government shouldn't even get to know if two people are married or not - that's how out of marriage I think government should be - it's none of the gov's business who I partner with, what I own, what i legally do. ... Zzzzzzzzz Eh? At least the Brits kept all those on the dole in Scotland happy enough by making promises of more dole.... to vote against FREEDOM for Scotland.... so the Brits could continue to extract the life blood and resources of Scotland as hey have done for hundreds of years.... I am betting the referendrum will not pass again there. Scots are Brits, and the referendum didn't pass this time, because scots want remain Brits. Don't worry - it's all the EU now. So no matter how bad it gets, the Germans can bail them out......just like the Italians and the Spaniards, and any other country where the people want to live easy and not work too much. ... over hyping is our job - heck, I'll start you note So my response is immediate and certain - "So, you think balance with minorities and equity for brown people is just an irrelevant sideshow? That's revealing.... Typical of the Brits to be so incredibly racistss. The sun certainly never sets on the atrocities theyv comited through history and today." Note the obligatory misspellings and the blatant refusal to see the word 'parties' in 'minority parties'. Next I would refuse to listen to why you think it's a sideshow and continue to strawman and insult in a PC fun way. But see how fun it can be? ... meh - a mall cop is just a civilian but I won't disagree, your 1 year should be defended from verbal confrontation, especially if you are the one that dressed him - but - by the time he's 15, and if he's one that picks stuff just to get a reaction, you might change your mind by then and just observe first, before stepping in, to see how he handles himself with how others react to his choices - in fact, I bet you do, you don't come across as a coddler, your kid will be well adjusted enough to deal with debate for sure all bets are off though, if the person get hostile or physical, then I don't care how old my kid is.....I step up ... no argument here. it's pretty much equivalent to someone walking up to you and giving you grief for throwing your soda can in the wrong trash recepticle. But, the kid thinks he's old enough to try and "make a statement", then he needs to be ready to deal with someone that has the exact same attitude about putting their own and opposite opinion out right back at them. For me in that situation? I'm not going to 'tell them where to go' unless they cross those lines I mentioned, but that also includes them being overly verbally aggressive. I'll look at my kid and say "your clothing choice, this is your debate". But then watch the other person to make sure he's not a wacko. ... It's a rude thing to do, what your son did, and just designed to elicit exactly that response. Once you were done with the cop (as any good mother would)..... Were you just as pissed at your son or use the situation to have that discussion with him? I'd be ok with the mall cop (or anyone else, including a 'real' cop) if his response was strictly verbally stating his opinion on the hat and chastizing your son for his disrespect. But If that mall rep abused his authority, or got physical with your son, then I'm your side. Free speech needs to ready for speech right back at ya. that line is pretty easy to draw. I hope that's ok with you - it's an honest opinion. edit: and then I'd tell him to get off my lawn ... snarky, even for you respecting the feelings of others that might have a different opinion than you (such as packing up a flag in a private setting) is not a negative thing. Ron has plenty of stuff here that he's (probably as Devil's Advocate) missing the point on. This isn't one of them Heck, if the protesters had the same courtesy and did it on their own property and invited likeminded people to participate - that certainly would have been courteous. But free speech isn't dialogue and debate now, is it? It's about being rude to others for the sake of venting, rather than convincing others for the sake of expanding a viewpoint. ... Anyone who sheds blood for a flag is a fucking moron. Some don't. Others don't care. Devotion to a particular pattern on a piece of cloth may sometimes be associated with patriotism, but it's not a part of patriotism. Your post clearly indicates that you have no clue as to how Americans think or why we behave as we do. You are on the outside looking in and simply do not understand what you observe. I think he nailed it. Some care (I do). Others don't. A symbol is not something we fight for - the symbol can only represent what we truly fight for. Tell me I don't understand how Americans think - I was born here, raised here. I served my country and the people of the country in the armed forces and in how I live my life afterward. I do not serve a symbol - I serve what the symbol represents. I personally respect the symbol and want others to do the same. But if they don't, and it's their property, I won't try to force them under physical threat or legislation to act about it like I do (pretty much the biggest complaint I have about liberalism and extreme religious righties, BTW). I'll have a serious conversation with them, you bet. But crossing the line beyond that is like being forced to buy a particular type of light bulb, or having words outlawed - it's out of hand and excessively controlling - Pretty much we've torn ourselves and apart and fought pretty damn hard all over the world to get away from government that tries to tell us how to think. example being forcing a religious-like attitude on people about personal property - like a flag. IMHO - Forcing someone to act a certain way about their own personal property is pretty much another form of intrusive PC thuggery. the girl committed theft and assault - just because she did it to assholes doesn't make it right. ... bull shit - it's a fun hobby here to bunch "Americans" into some pissy little stereotype based on a few idiots just because it makes one quiver and smug. They also seem to quiver and get excited about solar power, and whales - all of them. While eating too much McDonalds. All you Canadians do this 100% of the time. Is it all the moose that does it? And not having any neighbors within 5 miles of each other? Meh, most people in Canada live in metropolitan areas. But then I wouldn't expect an American to understand any geography but......all the movies just show snow, and trees, and flannel ... total nonsense - those that get bent about it are the exception, not the rule we've done tons of flag demos - as long as there is an attempt at a minimum to catch the flag, no one minds at all if the catch isn't perfect or if the flag is on the ground, astroturf, ball field or whatever for a few moments. people in general are a bit more normal than you paint them ... Nicely put. Sadly - fewer and fewer people evolve past this stage. Thus we get a lot of loud mouth complainers with no ability to debate in a kind way. and even fewer with recommendations of solutions that isn't stock prattle. Of course, had she tried this in her previous attire, they might have let her take the flag without as much protest. I thought the most ironic point is that she tried to steal another's private property as a gesture to defend a symbol of what the nation is supposed to stand for. (freedom of thought and expression, private property rights, ability to be represented without bias). pretty much a fail on all points (yes, the founding was protection from the government doing these things and she's an individual.....but the point still holds) Taking from someone else to try and shore up one's moral positions....very typically something we see a lot in the extremists of both parties...... and I don't think either extreme even tries to stand for our original values one bit. ... Right, and if it incites enough violence it might be outlawed or at least banned on college campuses... It's the norm at college campuses. it won't be banned. "I'm really upset about something, I'm not sure what, and I have ZERO cogent discussion to go with it and what I think I understand has nothing to do with real societal problems, but I want to impress people around me that I'm 'aware' and 'passionate' .... so I better do something visceral and insulting to get attention" nevertheless - the inherent right of people to express themselves must be protected.... even in this way ... Well, in this case, they aren't trampling on "The" flag. they are trampling on 'A" flag. If it was the protestors' private property, she was wrong. If they took a flag from someone else, or from a public mount, then the protesters are wrong. People have the right to do whatever they want with their private property, no matter how distasteful it is to me or anyone else. NO matter how stupid or ignorant or childish the people are, in trying to communicate their message, they deserve to be protected from theft. The rights that the flag is a 'symbol' for includes our private property rights just as much as anything else. She needs a lesson on 'everything' the nation is based on, not just self righteous emotional reaction gratification (same as the stupid tantrum that the protestors were conducting). What she did, IMHO, is just as mis-informed as what the protesters were doing. Free speech should be something constructive and useful. "Symbolic" free speech is the outlet of the lazy and misinformed. I didn't see anyone here in the video worth paying attention to, frankly. Maybe the cop doing his job.... ... Overweight, Elderly, Uncurrent Skydiver

Leave out the age (discriminatory) and I've done some editing. No Charge. This one. Age is not a factor - fitness and gear loading and safety are. But I like how Martin always tries to be considerate, personal, and caring in a direct way. Courtesy and understanding go a long way with most people. (in this case that happened, good deal) It's a shame that a small number of self involved asswipes force a lot of us to be very brief and exact in communications rather than make those productive connections. ... If a team calls me a "vidiot", then I refer to them as "butt sniffers". Camera Flyer seems to be the most neutral of all terms funny - love it. We actually have a great shot of a 4-way attempt at a direct Cat launch line from the outside of the plane that that illustrates the term "butt sniffers" - or even "butt sniffer train" very well. I'll try to find it. I do believe our 'camera professional' had that one posted all over the place. It was a point of team pride for him and all of us. (But, sincerely and with warmth and caring - If any wording causes said panty waddish feelings on any team member, we gladly change our term of endearment to accommodate said discomfort. . . . . I don't think it's intentional if the new terms become even more unusual and mocking and then used more publicly. It's just a coincidence I'm sure......)
