Proposed Tax Overhauls from "Gang of Six [Senators]"

not even hogwash - the Ford example is a testimony to free trade with minimal government. to try to use it for the reverse argument is really stupid and misses on basic economics and business ... it worked for ford though... absolutely, because of competition in an interference free market and in a society based on present labor. If the higher pay is legislated - then there is no pool of people competing for it, they don't have to compete, thus they don't have to be more productive at all - you're just giving them more with no incentive to return the favor. Further, their loyalties from the increased pay don't accrue to the employer, they accrue to the government DESPITE the employer - likely productivity goes down And we can get most of our labor from remote sources, then the competition goes to the lowest bidder and the companies still get increased productivity. you basic theory is absolutely false based on the first item, but, if we even assumed wrongly that it was correct, you still lose because you can't even establish competition for higher paying jobs in today's employee market you're example ONLY applies to a micro situation based on a factory assumption where the rest of the market remains static. It's not macro applicable, nor professional at all - it's really idiotic so here's how you make it work - start your own biz, make it present labor intensive, and pay better than the competitors - that works - but only for you, at the expense of the other guys who are forced to try to keep up. legislation cannot make it work - but examples by successful and freely operating companies can..... ... so are you saying that the failed economy of the current and the previous administrations didn't help those that needed it most I agree - Bushobama's model of tax and borrow and spend, spend, spend, is a failure. about time people realize that. and the current attempt to accelerate it even worse is sickening ... and just as easily one could argue the converse that spending hikes (to buy votes in the meantime) have been the strategy of the liberals has been in play for years and years, with the end goal being to justify massive taxes aas a necessity rather than a choice, the only way to eliminate an unsustainable budget deficit. Isn't it great how both parties can play together to tax and spend everything WE have for the purpose of justifying more of it and to increase their power year after year? ... well, it's good if it only involves that 'other' guy's extremism/positions - then I'll lambast it all day (the easiest way to get around it is to just find a nutjob and then claim he's with the other side regardless) ... in fact, it's most likely that Ford's move resulted in several companies LOSING some of their best workers and their productivity either shot to hell, or they had to raise pay to retain the best there is no such thing as getting something for nothing - Ford's gain had to come at the expense of someone else - until they responded in their own best interest that's how we raise the bar - keep the economy in competitive tension ... This is a great example - about how competition is the best for the individual and the best for everyone else... Ford offered better pay to attract the best workers. However - if the government mandates higher minimum wage (for everyone), then you don't attract the best workers away from those that pay the minimums - you just get any worker, including the poor performer, but it costs more - productivity probably goes down. I really think you need to sit down and try to figure out how stuff really works, not how you wish it would work. In reality - the best workers go out an prove that they are the best and then they get more. You pay a bad or average worker more - he's still bad or average. Productivity results in better pay for the individual. The converse of that is demonstrably false (more pay does NOT guarantee better performance). in other words, the worker has to earn it - giving for nothing actually makes the situation worse. ... you understand - option 3 is the preference of those too dumb to recognize (or just don't care) that their desire for instant gratification and personal gain causes more harm than it could ever help - we are growing an entire generation of terrible long term thinkers - or just lazy non-thinkers raising minimum wage has an instant boost to a very targeted demographic - which then disappears almost immediately as the economy and business adjust naturally (it's a fast response - except for very organized businesses - they actually can anticipate and adjust nearly instantly). Actually, it's a violent rebound that devastates those it's "advertised" (to the simple and the stupid) to help. The short term gain is Extremely short, the long term damage is nearly permanent. It has zero benefit except to generate votes for politicians that are slimy enough to play that card. ... Hey, there are people on this very board who think loonies should be allowed to have guns right up until the moment they open fire on innocent people. Of course, you seem to define "loonies" as the entire population of the earth - except you and a couple people you approve of. And by your logic, one could say - Hey, there are people on this very board who think it's a bad idea to allow anyone to have guns the entire time they choose NOT to open fire on innocent people. ... What he means is this.... Your wings are pulled out between your rig laterals and shoulders. Your shackles (at the bottom wing corner) then are routed OVER your laterals and down to your leg straps - or rings - or whatever you connect to.. The bottom of that wing over the lateral should be pretty tight to that lateral (i.e., without a gap). he's just saying that if the wing trim down by the lateral has a gap there, you could extend the sewn portion of the wing to the body enough so it fits snug to the lateral sounds like you just route the bottom of the wing under the laterals......in that case, there's not reason to have any 'hanging' bit of wing down there at all ... P90X is pretty decent too - it mixes up a ton of different types of exercises to keep it fresh - lifting, stretching, yoga, high and low impact cardio. Though I found I needed to add lower back to the back lifting workouts to round it out. Skydiving needs a focus on total body fitness - but if you can only focus on anything, I'd say core (abs, obs and lower back) and shoulders. that said - there's plenty of slobs that skydive just fine - but the fitter one is, the better they perform at anything ... Proper signals on student jumps after solo status?
rehmwa replied to Skydog73's topic in Instructors
I like that. But the most important thing for me is that the student and I are on the same page on whatever jump we're on - it certainly does help to have a default set of expectations at the DZ or in general - but we still talk about hand signals in the prebrief/training just to be clear for any coaching or AFF jump (you never know what the last guy taught him unless you review) it doesn't take long - "you remember your hand signals?.....ok, what does this mean, and this, and this....great, here's a couple new ones for this jump" etc etc ... So close it up. Don your rig and camera suit, and adjust everything so it's 'jump ready'. Note where the lowest point on the wing is sewn to the jumpsuit, somewhere in the vicinity of the lateral. If this point is above the lateral, then the hole in the wing is bigger than it needs to be. Camera suits are made to fit a 'generic' rig, and if you have extra space above your lateral, you can close it up with 5 or 6 wraps of supertack to extend the seam where the wing meets the suit. Run it right down until the seam is just lower than the lateral, and the wing lays across the top of the lateral. Now the hole is as small as it need to be. If you wing is already touching your lateral, then you're out of luck, the hole is what it is. the benefit of having my wife as a suit maker - she just finished her first camera jacket (mine - pattern to product in 3 days) and it's custom to me and my rigs - big wings, lots of pockets, and I did my first 6 jumps with it video'ing 4-way for an NSL team. Wings are great. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

those guys are pros - take my pic knowing I don't know anything yet about video here's my 'starter' setup - the only remaining update to this one is a new mounting plate so my still will be rightside up and so there will be a 2nd contact point on the still for more security (a good friend came up with his own custom enclosure for the mindwarp we see here - I think it's super clean and not complicated at all - I have it setup so I can swap out batteries and cards and do previews all without dismounting anything. the only disassembly would come from swapping out the tongue switch) i get a little jitter filming 4-way (I think I need thicker padding with the resulting snugger fit) - but nice and calm for Freefly and tandems so far there is a cutaway on it as well - it's so simple, I see no reason why I shouldn't have - I like the spring/cotter pin anyway better than threaded fasteners but I'm a newbie (I used to do VHS cams a LONG time ago - this is much nicer and easier on the neck) at camera - it's a lot of fun ... you realize that's a contradiction - if you want the money to stay where it is and not be redistributed, then it shouldn't be taxed at all moving it from fed to state, and then state to local, and then just keeping it yourself and spending how YOU see fit.............. welcome to fiscal conservatism - a position neither of the current parties advocate ...
