    Congress will somehow claim that the budget growth is actually ANOTHER 6T increase and then they'll 'cut' 2T from that claiming that they cut 2T vs a 1.2T goal - they'll claim they cut 2T while ACTUALLY increasing spending by a net 4T this will be immediately followed by a scramble to raise taxes to cover the 4T increase (er, 'already accounted spending level') ...     which way did she vote? (I suspect either party will exploit whatever they can for public relations - including a damaged congressmember like her. But, as an individual, maybe she just wanted to visit work and show she was ok - or even, maybe, she really wanted to vote on this one. whatever the motivation - as a PR move, this was an excellent choice regardless of whether her own staff choreographed it, or the DFL leaders, or even the "obama regime" {that sounds as silly as when the other guys were screaming Bush regime}) ...     Are you comfy pulling your either your reserve or main at 1000 ft? I'm not (reserve is close I guess). If the pilot wants it closed to a certain altitude x, and I'm comfy at altitude y for reserve exit, and all the seatbelts are off. then door opens at the higher of x and y. (If I'm at the door). let TMs bitch for another minute - they will live. My favorite is when a DZ has a closed door policy of any kind - so the jumpers only open the door 3-6 inches or so. I like that - it's big enough for a pilot chute to escape, just not a body........ the door should either be open, or closed, part way is really just stupid ...     You must not remember the uproar about Bush's golfing and vacations I think this is just a parody on that which exposes the hypocrisy of the left on topics like this What do you think? It's stupid regardless of which "side" does it. I don't care if Obama goes golfing this weekend or not, he can still be working o the budget deal the whole time. I bet he sleeps a few hours too.     John - every jump you do with your wife, by definition, is exotic and fun. take that I made a jump at the Lido DZ in Indonesia - It was gorgeous jumping in that valley. unless you count Ft Dodge, IA as exotic ...     oh - I'm a big fan of getting rid of all writeoffs, subsidies, loopholes, etc etc etc. Also penalties, deductions, etc. Government should get out of 'encouraging' and 'discouraging' spending behaviors and just tax income. And I really do like my mortgage interest deduction - I really do, but it's another source of social experimentation that should go along with all the stuff the rich leverage legally today as well. a simple tax code, a simple tax rate, would generate income from everybody - especially those that play the system (the very poor that pay nothing, and the very rich that hide too much) and it wouldn't require raising the tax rates at all that's the revenue raising I'd do. but we still have a spending addiction and that's where the real work has to happen ... I did address that. Though that's a bit better, but we have an economy now that we can hire people outside our borders. That's a big change since Ford's time. ...     "CHECK IN" and stop there, smile at me, let me know you are checking in and not just glancing and all fuzzy brained - (bonus points to student that give me signals - ) still hands are great - sometimes it's a bit of work though to hold a good signal for those that REALLY need them - I think for the really difficult students, it's also great to have the teamwork where on reserve side, I want to help that student be stable enough that the main side doesn't have to work to the limit just to get a good set of signals off. And conversely when on main side, appreciate that reserve side by giving those definite signals that he helped you get out there ...
