  1. In florida they have several 'ticket clinic' type law firms ...some available online. My last ticket was a few years ago. Fine was something like $250 if I paid it. Hired the clinic online, didn't have to go to appear in court. Had to pay $75 for the clinic, a similar amount for the ticket. Adjudication withheld, no points, no traffic school, no record Best of luck! Michael
  2. Thus Spake Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche In the darkest time of my life, a friend sent me the book. It's not an easy or light read, but the time was right and pain is a great motivator to change and grow. http://www.yenra.com/quotations/nietzsche.html Michael "These small things--nutrition, place, climate, recreation, the whole casuistry of selfishness--are inconceivably more important than everything one has taken to be important so far."
  3. Beautiful! You know, one of the 'extra' benefits of CRW for me is enjoying the visuals of canopies in close formation flight. Stark white clouds majestically floating in the background or a clean echelon of canopies dancing back to the formation against the glow of dawn. (Problem with dawn jumps is that you got to get up too damn early) It's always beautiful ...sometimes it takes by breath away. You might well get some question and responses from others here about canopy types, line types and safety ...and the questions/advice will be worth listening to. Me? I'm delighted you see the beauty. Welcome to the dark side. Michael
  4. I am neither hot nor little ...but I give a wicked enema. Instead of water I use wine coolers. Michael
  5. Well, OK...but you'll have to carry me whereever we are going after that.
  6. Make mine a diet pepsi, please ...and welcome
  7. Rule #1. No personal attacks. For everyone - next one gets the thread locked. How bout dealing with the offenders and leave the thread alone?
  8. Isn't it good to know that there is an emotional psychic out there who can tap into a person's heart and know exactly what they are feeling even though they may have a hard time expressing themselves or does not do so in a way that others read easily? Jen who wept her eyes out in private when my grandfather died, but played stoic oldest granddaughter for everyone else to lean on when anyone was around. Guess that makes me heartless and unemotional. Jen, Would you react the same way to a skydiver with thousands of jumps and many years of experience who perceived things in skydives that you were oblivious to? They point out nuances of movement and position that you don't have the knowledge and experience to perceive ...and you jump their shit!? Every time I listen to Mike Lewis debrief a large CRW dive, I am amazed at what he sees and comments on. This is what I do, darlin. It's been my work for a quarter of a century and when you spend that amount of time dealing with death, survivors and the interpersonal reactions that surround the event, you learn a few things. So, I ask you, do you believe it possible that I am referring to things you do not see or understand? Sorry you feel my words deprive you of your personal experience. Michael
  9. Unless you have a PM from each and every person that posts in a vibes thread, then you are speculating on their motives. In your experience, I am sure that you have found a number of motivations for peoples actions. I don't agree that you can select the most negative one and assign it to many people that you have not met or conversed with. Some may have some selfish motive. Some will just be giving comfort and showing kindness. If a few are exhibiting a spark of the better side of human behaviour, I don't see the harm. I see it as a good. Vibes threads are part of the spirit of skydiving. Friendship is a great part of this sport. Remove kindness from this site and it will become like other rusting internet dumps. Dude, I made no comment about the 'vibes' thread and wasn't referring to the .com universe. Michael
  10. Speculating? Hmmm, do you mean did I sit around and just kind of come up with this? No. What experience with death are you bringing to this discussion? I've wrapped hundreds of bodies and worked with thousands of survivors. I just got home from work and spent most of my night working with the family who decided to withdraw life support from their family menber. There were 17 of them. Two were sincerely emotionally involved, the rest were there for ...other reasons. I still have hopes that people will be noble and caring ...but that so rarely is the case. I wish it wasn't so, but it is. I could be off base, but my conclusions are based on broad experience. Now, unless you have a shitload of experience in dealing with death, you really don't have much to base your opinions on (almost like you were ...speculating?) ? Most people just can't deal with what lies behind the curtain. You're young, kid ...give it some time. BSBD, Michael
  11. I don't hate people. I just seem to feel better when they're not around. Michael
  12. Don't Drink the Water by the Dave Matthews Band Come out, come out, no use in hiding. Come out, come out, can you not see There’s no place here, what were you expecting? No room for both, just room for me. So you will lay your arms down, Yes, I will call this home. Away, away, you have been banished. Your land is gone, and given to me. And here I will spread my wings. Yes, I will call this home. What’s this you say, you feel a right to remain? Then stay and I will bury you. What’s that you say, your father’s spirit still lives in this place? Well, I will silence you. Here’s the hitch, your horse is leaving. Don’t miss your boat, it’s leaving now. And as you go I will spread my wings. Yes, I will call this home. I have no time to justify to you, Fool, you’re blind, move aside for me. All I can say to you my new neighbor, You must move on or I will bury you. Now as I rest my feet by this fire Those hands once warmed here, but I have retired them. I can breathe my own air and I can sleep more soundly Upon these poor souls, I’ll build heaven and call it home. Cause you’re all dead now. I live with my justice And I live with my greed in me I live with no mercy And I live with my frenzy feet I live with my hatred And I live with my jealousy I live with the notion that I don’t need anyone but me Don’t drink the water Don’t drink the water Blood in the water
  13. I'll tell you what I've observed in years of working ER/Trauma. Outside of immediate family, people don't care all that much. They care about public perception and offer responses deemed socially appropriate for the occasion. I'll tell you what they do care about ...they want a piece of the action, to insinuate themselves into an exciting story. They want to be the first to break the news, to insert themselves into the story to make their own lives more interesting. They'll show up at the hospital to get social credit for their caring (and pick up juicy bits of info to pass on to others). Their stories quickly become 'I' stories (I was just taling to him the week before, I was at the hospital for 6 hours, I was on the jump, I was at the DZ, I know someone who knows someone who knew him/her. When the hard, demanding work needs to be done ...they ain't to be found. They're on the phone or computer telling 'I' stories. BSBD, Michael
  14. Good bye, sister. Blue Skies. Michael
  15. Well the obvious is that you have way too much time on your hands. Was there something else? Michael
  16. Send me PROOF!!!! I don't believe it otherwise! Mine is my (and I quote from an unnamed source) my "hellasiously sexy ass," and my strength to stand up for what I believe in. I thought you just stood to show off your hellasciously sexy ass? Michael
  17. Marty wakes up at home with a huge hangover. He forces himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins and a glass of water on the side table. He sits down and sees his clothing in front of him, all cleaned and pressed. Marty looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotless, clean. So is the rest of the house. He takes the aspirins and notices a note on the table "Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to go shopping. Love you." So he goes to the kitchen and sure enough there is a hot breakfast and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table, eating. Marty asks, "Son, what happened last night?" His son says, "Well, you came home after 3 A.M., drunk and delirious. Broke some furniture, puked in the hallway, and gave yourself a black eye when you stumbled into the door." Confused, Marty asks, "So, why is everything in order and so clean, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me?" His son replies,"Oh that! Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you said, "Lady, leave me alone, I'm married!"
  18. Just about any woman that is appealing to an insecure man. Michael
  19. Ok, I want to know. What artistic exploration existed in the prohibited "More Housewives..." that the admissable "Housewives, Mothers and Daughters" did not? Michael
  20. This sickest, darkest most twisted recesses of our minds?
  21. Just goes to show you, wait long enough and everything old is new again. Nice pics! Michael
  22. Here is where you are missing my point...You are looking at it from OUR societies point of view...not that of another culture or for that matter another society. I'm looking at it from an anthropological standpoint. ~R+R..Sociology/Anthropology...there is a difference... ------------------- Fair enough. I do hope, however, you will have a bit of understanding for my failing to get your point ...unless your point is that we all need to read more. Just poking fun at ya, hun. Anthropologically speaking, what are the purposes of marriage? Michael
