  2. thanks, so it sounds like what i'm doing is correct and ithis way is probibly better for getting greater speed and distance Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  3. i'm fiting a alpha 120 into my j1. but now i have to buy a new container cause i'm downsizing Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  4. hey brian can you explain your thing on roll angle a little more i'm confused. is it better, in your opinion, to do a slower turn? why or why not? Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  5. i have very little skydiving experience, but i have been using my rears swooping on the right occassion. for me it's all about feel, jump numbers don't really mean much, it's more about how well you know you're canopy, how well you fly that canopy, and how comfortable you are in the present situation (each jump is a different situation, knowing the right time is one of the most important factors in my opinion). i also tried stuff up high to see how my canopy reacted. when i brought it down to ground level i was under a somewhat lightly loaded canopy and was taking things very slow (i still am taking things very slow). so, like i said before i have very very limited experience, some on here probibly wouldn't even consider me experienced, but i wrote any way. talk to those guys you see swooping and listen to them, listen to the experienced guys on here (skymonkeyone et al.), and search the posts as well, and you might find what you're looking for. 6. thanks guys, guess i'm gonna have to find a 99 to demo now Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  7. hey guys thanks for the reply's. i started to do a little research on the xfire2 and was wondering what wingloading it's best at? from previous threads it sounds like 1.8-1.9, does this sound about right? Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  8. for those of you with xbraced canopies, what conventional, 9 or 7 cell, main did you fly before going xbraced? do you think it was a good transitional canopy? i'm trying to find a canopy that will eventually lead me to an easy transition from a conventional 9 cell to xbraced when i'm ready. 9. how about some sort of relay race? Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  10. question about loosening your chest strap for HP landings. I understand that we do this to open up the canopy more and make it more efficient, but is there such thing as opening up the strap too much? is there a point where it will non productive or counter productive? or should we keep loosening it up until we basically have no chest strap at all? 11. anybody know the price on the katana yet? Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

  16. how did they start swooping? when did they know they were ready to go from 90's, to 180', to 270's, if that's how they learned to swoop? Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  17. Why do they think they have excelled so much and have become so good? Do they understand something we (the average canopy pilot/swooper)don't? What do they attribute their skill to? Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  18. not from my personal experience but from a good friends experience who owned a fx 83 and demo'd a velo 90. he says the openings on his fx were a lot better, they didn't search like the velo. he thought the flight characteristics were very similar, don't know the specifics though. his overall impression was that he liked his fx better and thinks his vx is way above that of the velo, but the one he demo'd felt like it was f111 and could have been out of trim which definitely could have scewed his opinion of how the velo flew. 19. The 900 i'm assuming is when you opened? damn that's a long free fall, what unit was this with? Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

  21. thanks for the pic, so how would a longer chest strap and articulation do? better or worse? Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  22. won't having chest rings also help this spreading to help use more parachute effeciently? Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  23. i heard that icarus was trying to develop a canopy to over take the vx but since it's not performing as expected they might have canceled this particular project. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  24. Does the lengths of ones risers effect the swooping capability of ones canopy? ie shorter risers= shorter recovery arc and more constriction of the canopy. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  25. look at what others are flying around your dz. ask people that have seen you land. research on the internet. demo. buy. also take into account that winter is coming up so maybe you're not jumping as much. i went from a tri 160 to stiletto 150 to now a impulse 120 and love the impulse. probibly stick with that for 400-600 jumps.
