  2. um heh, yea. happened to me once and so now i don't spread my legs as wide. i know it's not exactly the safest method, but it kinda works. do it at your own discretion Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  3. Just interested to see what the majority of dz.comers fly within the xbraced world? For me, i jump my lovely vx 84.
  4. Can you say slider down . just kidding. when i do a backflip off the plan and pitch in a head down i get better openings than if i pitched head-up in the same time frame, plus i get my stuff stowed w/in a thousdand feet. 5. a few pics from the summer i took. most of the ones i want to put on are too big, but they are posted in my gallery on dz.com Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

  7. remember it's not just your rig. it's all the other stuff you wear as well. I weigh about 165 naked and about 187 out the door last time i checked. i jump a vx 84 and a PDr126. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

  11. You know some focus on RW, some freefly, and some (very few) on HP canopy work, and i think it's this focus and goal setting that truely develops a persons skill and growth. Pilots, and everyone else, need goals and a progression, those that don't have them will either not progress as fast as they like, or they'll fuck themselves up royally, which seems to be the trend. it's those low-jump numbered people that say "hey he only has 300 more jumps than me and he's on a velo pulling that sick shit, that means i can do this." but they don't realize how much research, study time, JUMPS, and actual time, it takes to achieve the skill level they see. My best advice for new canopy pilots is this: set specific goals for each canopy, DO NOT set time frames cause then you'll start adding unneeded stress to an already stressful event. Research is the next step. start doing research by looking on these forums and asking KNOWLEDGABLE people around your dz questions about anything and everything, BUT take everything with a grain of salt. Next is jumps. you have to stay current in this area of the sport, however just don't jump out and not think about your progression, have a set plan for that jump or day of jumps. Do hopNpops, do full alti loads, do canopy runs. start trying stuff at safe altitudes, ie above cutaway hieght. Lastly, keep things fun while you're doing it, because that's why we're all here right? these idea's are just my .02, however they have worked for me and continue to work for me. 12. Also to add to the previous post, i am in the works with tyson to get one of the comps up at snohomish so that should be cool.
  13. Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that I am the organizer for our region and to just let everyone know that if you have any questions please contact me. The schedule is not set yet and there is a lot of work to be done, so if you have any questions, ideas, or comments, now is the time to make them. I will post the schedule when available, but until then keep swoopin and practicing. See ya Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  14. i'm organizing the washington/oregon/ and maybe BC canada district. Our schedual isn't out yet, cause i'm having trouble getting a hold of some of the DZO's. So all of you that are in my district, just be patient for a little bit
  15. I've been trying to get a hold of them via email and phone for the past 3 days and noone is there. Are they still alive? Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  16. I don't do a lot of freeflying but i would like to improve my transitions from sit to head down. as of right now i can get in a sit no problem either by leaving the plane or from a head down, and i can get/stay in a head down if i exit that way. where i'm having trouble is going back into a head down from a sit. So what do you guys do? do you have vids to help demonstrate this? thanks. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  17. noice. hopefully i'll see some of you in mid-march then. Thanks Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  18. I was wondering what the process was with perris's check in? I have almost 1200 jumps but none have been signed since jump 500 or so, will this be a problem? That's really my only concern, but let me know what else goes into their process. Thanks Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  19. KIM!!! damn it women my advise isn't good enough . just kidding, we'll do some more this weekend. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

  21. I just wanted to add a little experience i had over the weekend. Usually i jump my vx 84(2.2wl), well i had to get it relined so i barrowed a xfire109(1.7wl) this weekend and by the end of the day on saturday I was able to to plan that canopy out with little or no input in zero wind, it was actually a really cool experience and helped me out greatly in getting a better feel for my vx when i got it back sunday. Now, I'm not trying to 'toot' my own horn, I'm just trying to make the point that if done correctly risers and toggles won't be needed. work on your set up, which is 90% of your swoop anyway, and take the necessary progression for your ability, but again safety is first and foremost, and rear risering should be one of the last things learned on your CURRENT canopy. Once you switch canopies you'll have to relearn and redo those steps, however it will be a quicker progression. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  22. Do a search on the forums for rear risering, there has been a lot of talk about it in the past and a lot of good info out there. also, just remember that if done correctly you won't need to use your rears, the canopy should plan out on its own. just keep that in mind. later Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  23. Started at about 160 jumps with a stileto 150(1.2),impulse 120(1.5ish),xfire97(1.8ish), VX84(2.2) at 750jumps i now have about 1200jumps. I've never gotten hurt and i didn't set the best example in my progression cause i see others trying to follow my path. the canopies above are the ones i owned, i jumped every size canopy in between those sizes before i bought. I contribute my progession to the RIGHT people that gave me advice, taking the information with a grain of salt, LISTENING to the people that know what they're talking about when i was doing somethign stupid, and doing a lot of jumping in a short amount of time (1200jumps in 2.5 years).
