i didn't really like the one xaos i tried. it was an 88 loaded at about 2.0ish i think. it just felt more like a conventional 9 cell then a xbraced canopy. I liked the velocity i tried (a 96), however i ended up with the VX which i absolutely love. the vx has been the most challenging canopy i've ever flown and that's what i liked about it. you're doing the right thing on doing as much research as possible, just try to demo all of them and then make your final decision. however, first and foremost is be very careful. none of us really know how you fly and so please just use common sense and fly within your abilities. have fun, be safe Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

i have my leg straps comfortable, but under canopy i move them down my legs a little bit to make my harness input a little more sensitive/ responsive (to me at least). i open my chest strap up all the way as well. i have full articulation but i don't know how much of a difference it really makes. i think hip articulation does to some extent but chest rings i don't know. this subject has been talked about before so maybe if you search you'll be able to find more info. i've asked questions about harness input so try searching for that. good luck Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

for your current wing type and wingloading your approach is probibly the best it can get. eventually you will want to minimize wing distortion by integrating more harness input and less front riser input. with your curent canopy it should be recovering by its self. so if you find yourself going from double fronts to stabing take that as a big warning sign that you either need to do it higher or come off the double fronts sooner. you know, one thing that i think is missing in everyone of these conversations is the environment that a 'new' canopy pilot is in. for instance, if someone is at a smaller dz with less canopy traffic they will be able to try more things and in my opinion progress faster. if they have experienced and knowledgable people around them that helps a huge amount as well. personally if someone wants to learn more about swooping and canopy piloting i will give them any information, including the consequenses, that they might need. i don't think it's right for people, especially inexperienced people, to say they have no business learning how to swoop, it does no one any good. that said, i think he has a good plan of attack for getting into the swooping scene by learning 90's, 180's, etc., listen to skymonkeyone and other knowledgable people, try and get video when ever possible (this could be one of your best tools), take all knowledge with a grain of salt, and finally when you fuck up (hopefully not bad) review what happened and don't do it again. take things slow and a set goals for yourself (this is another great thing to do). again no one person is right so get all info then make a decision. 2 years ago i started playing around with a stiletto 150 @ roughly 1.2 160 jumps. that canopy and the impulse 120 i owned after that were the two canopies i learned the most on besides the VX i own now. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

on this jump we didn't have the risers with the hard housings on and we haven't been able to get up again to try out the risers with hard housings. i'll let you guys know when we do try it though. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

we were jumping a stiletto 97 (1.8-1.9) as our cutaway main, so it's suprisingly easy to spin it up. he basically just sat in deep brakes and let up on one toggle real quick and away we went. as a side note the one in the vid freeked us out cause he actually couldn't cut it away till under 3k because the risers twisted up. so don't try it unless you know what you're doin.
