I love this place. I came to Eugen skydivers because it was the closest dz to my school (osu). I showed up with about 45 jumps to my name and have since added 80 jumps being here, all have been memorabile(sp) and very educational. These guys will help you out on every aspect of your skills from exits, to Freefly and RW, to canopy skills. They have a wide range of people knowledgable in all areas which is great for people trying to learn as much as possible. This is also one of the safest dropzones that I've been at which should be valued by everyone. Overall, this dropzone is very tough to beat. Thanks guys and oh yea during the summer they have a caravan every weekend so now it really kicks ass.

anybody heard of "head shield"?
superstu replied to superstu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was looking in the classifieds and came across this ad for what looks to be a new helmet maker. Just seeing if anyone has heard of them or not and what they know? Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down -

3 things: 1) I just got back from the skyventure and spent $10/min. with coaching. however arlo did hook me up so i don't know what regular cost is (Thanks again, I owe you some beverages of your choice next time i'm there). 2) the tunnel is an awsome tool, i learned a great deal and have noticed substantial changes in my flying even though i've only made 3 or 4 jumps since then. 3) search dz.com about wind tunnels and find a post from arlo about it. there is a lot of great info. ok, i want to start/ get on a 4way team that is located in the NW. right now i have 110 jumps plus 15 minutes of tunnel time. I currently jump at eugene skydivers but would travel to Skydive oregon, and maybe kapowsin but i'm limited on travel time because i go to school right now. let me know if you're interested or know others that are interested in this sort of thing. Definately agree with ya there. I was just putting it out there because I thought it had interesting points that some might not have looked at.

This was forwarded to me, so i'm sharing. lucky you "This gentleman makes a heck of an argument for justification of a war with Iraq. I asked a friend of mine who is in his 80's who was in the Korean War and World War II to give me a little history lesson and his thoughts today on War. I am sharing this because it is a different look at the War. It is not my opinion just thoughts from an honorable man that lived through two Wars and that I have a great respect for. Thoughts to think about: . I'm not going to get into a history lesson. The short, short version is that the League of Nations (established after WW I to prevent wars) failed to stop Mussolini's Italy from invading and conquering Ethiopia. It failed to stop Japan from invading and conquering Manchuria and much of China. Their committees wrung their hands spoke in platitudes but did absolutely nothing to stop war. At France's coaxing Britain's prime minister Nevil Chamberlain met with Adolph Hitler in Munich and surrendered the Sudetenland to Nazi Germany in the interest of "peace in our time." The French and British watched as Germany took Austria, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia. They all had committee meetings and wrung their hands and talked of peace. World War II erupted when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. Britain had a mutual defense treaty with Poland so they couldn't escape. They declared war on Germany. Germany had a mutual defense treaty with Japan so Japan declared war on Britain. France wet heir pants and surrendered to Germany as fast as they could and gleefully shipped all the Jews they could find to death camps in Germany to prove to Adolph that they really were on the side of Germany. Japan attacked the United States and, because of Japan's mutual defense treaty with Germany, Germany declared war on the United States. Up until December 7th and the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, a large number of our people were wringing their hands and saying, "Appease Hitler. He is really a good guy who just needed a little more land for his expanding population. The dear man just wants peace. And World War II was in full swing leaving better than 50,000,000 people dead including about 450,000 American soldiers and sailors. Three cheers for the League of Nations! After World War II it was decided to do the whole thing all over again. This time we would call it the United Nations and we will have committee meetings and hand wringing parties and make sure peace prevails throughout the land. While that august body wrung hands the Soviet Union split Germany, invaded Poland and Yugoslavia, Rumania, Hungary and Bulgaria along with Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The peaceful world saw Korea with 37,000 American soldiers killed, over 1,000,000 South Korean soldiers and civilians killed and the country nearly destroyed. Since then we have had over 50,000 American soldiers killed in Vietnam and have fought wars in Somalia, Herzegovina, Panama, Granada, plus the Gulf War when Iraq invaded Kuwait. We should have gone into Baghdad and taken out that evil regime then but the United Nations would have no part of that. All they would allow was for us to chase the Iraqis out of Kuwait, then peace would prevail. Now, here we are with Saddam violating all 17 United Nations resolutions while he has massed poison gas and bio weapons. He is frantically trying to develop a nuke and his buddy, Kim Jong-Il of North Korea may give him a few. (It was the United Nations who prevented us from taking North Korea when the war was hot and we had the means to do it.) Peace!!!!!!!! Sure. France is wetting their collective pants in fear that the United States will take Saddam out and along with him, France's 60 billion dollar contracts with Iraq. Russia hedges because Iraq owes them 6 billion dollars that they sorely need. In answer to your question....... hell yes we should go to war with Iraq. We should have done it six months ago. We should also get out of the United Nations. Can you believe that the United Nations has appointed Iraq and Syria to head up the United Nations Disarmament Committee? Can you believe they have appointed Libya to head up the Human Rights Committee? All three of these countries are on the UN List of Terrorist States.............Absolutely unbelievable. Just don't get me going. Throughout recorded history the only time peace has prevailed is when the good guys have militarily whipped the bad guys. Who are our best friends in the world? Japan because we whipped them. Germany because we whipped them. Italy because we whipped them. Britain because we whipped them. This is one opinion, on the War but this is the eyes, ears and heart of an American Veteran..." Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

The attached pic is of my sister at skyventure. This was her first time in a tunnel and doing anything skydiving related. she got a total of 4 minutes and by the end of her time she could turn on her own. This pic makes me laugh everytime because I don't know, it's my sister and it's funny. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

The real reporters I think are good at telling what has happened, or in this case what's going on right now, but they still are a liability to the troops. If a reporter moves to some place he's not supposed to in the middle of a fire fight to get a better shot, he could get him/her self blown to shit along with the GI's. I just hope they are on very specific orders to stay the hell out of the way during battles. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

I'm so pissed off right now with our media and its reporting of this war. They are telling the world things they have no business in knowing. such as the latest development of what are troop are doing and what their movements will be before they actually happen. They are compromising the safety of the men and women putting their lives on the line for the sake of being first to say something. Personally I think they should be put in jail for a few days for this type of reporting. I know part of it is the militaries fault for letting the reporters come along, but come on, reporting that we're going to attack and/or in the process of attacking baghdad with ground forces puts lives on the line. I went to skyventure today and had some fun for about 15 minutes (that's all the time I could get). Arlo hooked me up, thanks again, and damn you're lucky to work there. I thought the tunnel was a great tool to help improve my skill, but I also am now a little more confused and frustrated about center point turns which is one of the major things that i wanted to learn while i was there. I never really understood what the coach was saying about dropping the knee to initiate the turn so I'm going to have to work on that and try and watch the video over and over again to see what i was doing wrong. It was hard trying to understand hand signals only, I never really got what I was supposed to do in words which probibly would have helped. I did learn to relax better in the mantis position, which i didn't know how to do before, and got a little more confident in some of my flying. Basically this is a great place to learn something you're stuck on, just make sure you have enough time so that you'll be able to learn it. 15 minutes wasn't enough for me but it's better than no minutes. Just giving my 2cents about the thing

well i'm only going to be here for 2 days and we're trying to spend it with family that we never see, so i'm kinda pushing my luck anyway going to the wind tunnel. but it is looking good, it sounds like my mom has given in and i'll be going tomarrow morning some time. so if anybody wants to jump with me, even though it'll only be one jump, please come out and show me around. by the way i'll be the paisty white guy from oregon. Damn it, i'm in florida right now and supposedly only like 6 miles from sebastion, my family won't let me even make one jump! i usually jump in oregon so the weather is not even close to what it is right now and i really want to go. damn it damn it damn it. at least i get to go to the wind tunnel tomarrow so that's good. i am going to continue my begging to make a jump and see if i can't do it tomarrow. usually dreams mean something else, they simbolize another part of your life that can't be expressed consciously because of some defense mechanism that is going on. go to the book store and there are dream "dictionaries" in the psychology section that kind of tell what things/actions in the dreams represent. I want to know why the whole world knows about these attacks before they have even happened? This puts those men and women in the planes at much greater risk. I hope this is short and with as little casualities as possible. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

I'll most likely get into stills but not for a while. And I still need to get some more information from people around the dropzone about doing camera work for tandems, but i'm interested in doing that as well. I'm also planning on getting my coaches rating soon and I know from experience that seeing video of your self is very helpful, this is my primary reason for wanting to jump just video right now. So are you saying to first know what kind of camera work you want to do, then go out get a helmet that will satisfy those needs, then look for a camera to fit on top of that? thanks for the response.
