  1. 1:5:0 My first couple coach jumps on friday...
  2. where did you get it from? My Bonehead Bond just matured and I want to get the new version where ever I order mine from. Hopefully soon too.
  3. Jimmy you're running out of helmet there... All you're going to have is cameras protecting your head soon. Kidding aside. That printer does a pretty nice job and if I remember I'll bring out some matte paper for you to test out on it when I head up there later today. matt
  4. Duece, I agree with you here I felt lost when I read the reply to my post... Is there something we can call threads that are more then just hijacked? Maybe "MIA" - Missing in Action? matt
  5. Just go with the web man... I know all i'd really want was to look at a bunch and possibly pick up one or two of the ones I like if I ever jumped with you. So why would I waste your time editing and burning a disc for me to look at?
  6. I'm not sure it's exactly the same stuff, but one of the engineers at work has a fasination with a similar product. So it's all over the place. Holding things in place in our live trucks, keeping wireless transmitters attached to our cameras, etc... It does hold well, but it's a royal B*&#@H to get to stick. Practically a wrestling match to get the sides locked together. At least the variety that I've seen at work I would not want anywhere on a rig I was jumping. matt
  7. From what I've found the only thing it won't do with the F100 is the 3D metering... all other modes work.
  8. Thanks Gary, I don't remember what my 6006 will sync up to, but I don't think it will ever end up in freefall. There isn't an electronic release on it so I'll probably have to get something like an F100 by the time i'm ready to fly for 35mm and/or whatever newer version of the D100 exists by then. Hopefully they'll both have an electronic release. matt

    Bitch

    ROF... forgot about that.
  10. Here's the senario: A co-worker and friend has a like new Nikon SB-22s that he wants to sell to me for $100. He paid a bit more, but has only put about 90 exposures through with it before he got his SB-26 and doesn't need multiple flashes. I think the price is pretty fair, but want to know if it will be useable in freefall for me. **I'm not even thinking about using it or any camera in freefall until I am closer to 500 jumps.*** The SB-22s would work well with my Coolpix 995 and N6006 in the mean time. Eventually (3-4 years from now depending on how many jumps and my skill level) I want to get a Nikon Digital SLR, bonehead flat-top and a Sony mini-dv cam for a helmet setup. The few camera helmets I've seen have older style flashes that can lay flat on the helmet, say next to a top mounted TRV and not create too much of a snag hazard. The only option for the SB-22s seems to be to mount it vertically next to the video camera. Would it be worth it to pick it up?? Could I get a brace system/support to keep the flash secure and desnagged? thanks, matt
  11. A part of the article explains the events they held pretty well. Sounds like fun.
  12. I'm feeling the same way, but still got level 3 in on sunday and level 4 on wednesday. Considering I took two vacation days for the weekend and spent most of the time up at the DZ the runway being too wet to fly sucked on saturday so I started to learn to pack.
  13. with all the questions about the new Cypres units couldn't it be - in part - that the unit itself uses less power and is more efficient so the batteries don't have to be replaced as often? Maybe it's a stupid thought, but I know that a lot of batteries have a long shelf life and I'd imagine that they'd live for quite a while if they weren't being drained too quickly. just my $.02. matt
  14. This has nothing to do with the post, but Nice new avitar Suz.
  15. Quade and other still photo gurus - Sort of on a tangent, but how have you or have you calibrated your screens. I know I've used Adobe Photo Shop's Gamma Correction/Calibration tool that just uses your eye and a few questions/guides when prompted. While working at my college's newspaper our printer came by and calibrated our monitors similarly, but I've seen Calibration sensors that stick to your screen and plug into your PC/Mac via USB or firewire and use software to calibrate automatically. The latter seems more expensive, but more accurate. Any opinions? Experience? I know from experience that I need my Sony Trinitron monitor at 65% brightness and 100% contrast for online video/still content to look right, but at 25%brightness and 100% contrast with my windows shut and incandescent lighting to match what's on the screen to what comes out of my printer. The potential differences in output drive me nuts, call me a control freak over my work, but I don't think I do as much still printing as I'd like to b/c I think I'd F#$% up more then I'd get right with all the variables. matt
  16. to take a shot in the dark, but do you have 20/20 vision in both eyes? b/c I'd bet that if you didn't whichever eye was better would take over... or at least you'd grow to trust it more. I've noticed that since I started shooting a lot of stills and now working full-time shooting video for the past few years my right eye - dominant eye - has slightly better vision. I don't know if it's a wives' tale, but somebody told me that your eyes are muscles like the rest of your body and if you use one more then the other they tend to atrophe like a muscle would if you'd, for instance, not walk for a while... my friend and neighbor was having trouble seeing the chalkboard in school, but his optomitrist said his eyesight wasn't really bad so before he prescribed glasses had him work out his eye with some exercises he divised. Something with a bead on a string and following it w/your eye as it moves. Ok..
  17. ever seen one of those three or four pronged grabber tools? I got a small one with a computer tool kit a while back. It may be able to grab on, but I'm not sure if it would have the grip strength to pull it out against the tension of the plug.. matt
  18. Did you try tweezers or a pair of really fine needle nose pliers yet? hope you can get it out without major surgery.
  19. Be careful about what cards you get there are Type I, Type II and I believe Type III cards that aren't necessarily compatible with every camera. My boss had a IBM microdrive fry in his Fuji SLR... He wasn't to happy about that to say the least and told me to never buy a microdrive. matt
  20. you know the one thing that a lot of studies leave out is the size of the population of the age group they are comparing. Percentages are pretty much useless. While I'm happy fewer people were killed according to that data, how do you get less then 100% of a child? Let alone have xx% of a kid die. Sorry, just venting. I hear anchors and reporters at my station say %s about people stories. It just confuses the average viewer/reader. matt
  21. Yeah, I do know I want one. I'm more of a Nikon fan, but then again all this talk has me thinking I need to get a MAC next instead of this PC. But I have to discipline myself to get through AFF and get my A and a rig and a bunch of jumps first before I shell out the $$. By that time how sweet will the newest version be?? matt
  22. Not to make you rehash what I think you've said before, but how many pix, or MB, do they allow you to have with the service you've got?
  23. Duece & Quade - A couple questions? Duece - I know you said you played around a lot, using a lot of battery power, but how long do you suppose a battery would last with "average use" once the shine has worn off to look at each pic 10 times? How much do the rechargable ones cost? Quade - More of a comment about the side by side comparison of Shutterfly. I saw a segment on TECH TV about Hassle-free digital pics where they reviewed Shutterfly and Ofoto Check it out for yourselves if you'd like. Q - As for the file system, good ideas I'll have to try it that way myself. Right now I just use the standard Nikon numbering, but import the photos to a folder that is named for the date I shot/downloaded the pix... ie. 2003_05_06 thanks for the good info and reviews. Now I want a 10D. matt
