I like the fact that when you lean back there is still support... the old clickers always felt a little strange to me. The snow hardly ever gets stuck in or around the bindings either. and when some does it seems to either not be a factor or come off on the process of getting off the lift.

my boot has a ratchet type fastener up front... at the ankle. the boot itself is a bit stiffer then the freeride boots i've tried/seen, but they get all of their strength from the binding so it's a trade off. The three different boots for the SI shown here say they are of different stiffnesses. This may be a silly suggestion, but have you gotten out to your local snowboard shop to get your feet in them and hands on any of them yet? I know i didn't really like the idea of step-ins until i got to try them at the shop.

I've got bindings like THESE ... only a generation older. with the boots that match. I haven't complained about them a bit. they're fast, flexible, adjustable. and so much better then the original design of the clickers. matt

Yep, another jumpsuit has arrived!

How long ago did you order it? Curious because i ordered one just like that with a different color scheme... From Kurupee right? matt -
I just had this discussion not to long ago when my parents hit a deer. It's different for particular areas, but i was told that once the deer is put down if it didn't die from the ax a person may take it and have it processed. Not sure how many people want to do that though.

Just curious... you mean the battery will stay at full capacity longer before needing to be recharged or that the battery lasts longer in use? matt

sounds good to me... i can't wait to fly camera somtime in the future, especially for stills. seeing people smiling, enjoying what they love, is just great. don't worry it won't be till a lot closer to 500 or so... (for the people who worry) it was kind of funny when my camera flier, now friend, on my first jump asked me how i was going to mount my betacam and tripod on a helmet...

And i think there's another author in the Dec issue here too... at least co-author. Not sure if it's him or his first though. The Invasion of the Skyflyers article was very eye opening.

I was reading that at work today... thinking nice writting. ***scratches head a few times*** I know i've read this person's style/voice of writting before. Wondered if it was THE Michele. congrats... nice article. matt

One of Santa's helpers made the national wire and feed on CNN. The newsroom was enjoying it... It more then likely will make air here. "SLUG: TX:SANTA PARACHUTE SOURCE: KTRK SUPERS- Houston, TX Friday --VIDEO SHOWS-- vo of Santa parachuting through air...makes a rough landing,, falls on back side and rolls for a while but pops back up --VO SCRIPT-- SANTA KICKED OFF THE HOLIDAY SHOPPING SEASON WITH A GRAND ENTRANCE AT A MALL IN HOUSTON... HE PARACHUTED OUT OF A PLANE AND ONTO THE ROOF OF THE SHARPSTOWN MALL. IT WAS ROUGH LANDING, BUT THE BIG MAN WAS JUST FINE. HE THEN HANDED OUT CANDY TO ALL THE GOOD BOYS AND GIRLS. -----END-----CNN.SCRIPT"

XXX works well.... lol. It'd be a long walk, er. waddle, from Youngs Street after a night like that and missing their flight. (sucks to be one of the birds that can't fly.)

I have been really happy with my Epson Stylus Photo 785EPX. Santa delivered it a couple years ago and i haven't complained since.

Where's the rest of the rythym section? matt

Do you think it would be possible to add a section in the Safety section so coaches/instructors could list their services and camps? With the huge emphasis, rightfully so, on training past AFF I think it would be a good resource. I've just had a bit of a hard time gathering info about specific coaches or camps. At least harder than the way the "Dropzones" section lays everything out. matt

I love the idea of DVD being loss-"less" at least compared to tape. But when people want to go jam more and more time on the disc the quality you worked so hard to capture, edit, in general create goes down the tube. Why? My philosophy is keep the highest quality you can throughout the whole process. Otherwise the expensive MiniDV cam you bought, wideangle lens, editing software and more importantly time have just been boiled down to VHS quality or less. Still seems kind of backwards to me, but i'm just ranting... If you're passing a finished skydiving DVD off to a customer the added cost should be negated, buy their remuneration to you. I'd be thouroughly amazed to see someone fill up the complete disc for one customer or jump. Figure 5-7 minute leader and 7-12 minute final edit = at most 20 minutes. According to the memorex DVD-R 4.7 GB i have in front of me that's still 1/3 of it's capacity at "high" quality. I don't have the #s off hand, but i think the compression that AVID Xpress uses would still fit the 20 minutes in the 4.7GB. Then again i could be wrong. I still think it would be of greater quality then the average viewer would notice and still say it was a quantum leap beyond VHS. enough ranting for now. matt

Like Q said.... Open it up in just about any photo program. Go to File --> Save As. a dialog box of some form should come up. There's usually another clickdown menu to select the type of file you want to save it as... ie. ".jpg" type a file name and click save. that works in most programs, at least in generic terms. if you need more help i'm sure one of the people hanging around here could help or even convert it for you if it's that much trouble. matt

I know you're entitled to your opinion, but please don't get this thread locked. I'm looking for some information about coaching from anyone. So thanks for the constructive criticism... matt

I've been pretty lucky to this point that my AFF jumpmasters, coaches and seasoned jumpers have helped me a lot. I know i can go to any of them, but a couple have been really good for me to ask questions of, get tips, etc... Both have been jumping for a long time. One is a professional pilot that has made understanding the terminology and physics behind flying easier to swallow. The other is my AFF jumpmaster that was on nearly all of my AFF jumps... so he's watched me and helped tremendously along the way. (thanks guys) matt edited to add - At this point i'm leaning towards either a block of coaching at Perris or a tunnel/coach jump course in Florida. Has anyone attended a camp held by Steve Blincoe?? A friend has made some coach jumps with him, but I haven't heard from anyone with personal experience of his "New School Flight Camps"

davelepka- I can't disagree that canopy coaching would be a good thing and know that there isn't a lot of training built into AFF... I really don't think i'm ready for advanced canopy coaching at this point. I'd rather stick with more conservative approaches and save the swooping for later so i don't end up on the incidents forum. _______________________________________________________________________________ Aggie dave and Mixologist, thanks for the info. I'll check out their sites. matt

***picks up nearest pillow and ponders the possibilities*** Did they have a pillow fight referee? You can't tell me that it wouldn't be the kind of fun that you'd never forget.... lol. matt
