so how do you have the 550EX mounted? I just keep thinking about all the shock that would be transferred to the hot shoe mount each jump. How did you overcome that? got any pics of the setup? matt

deuce was that fill flash the built in type or are you using a separate flash unit? just wondering b/c i'm wondering how the newer cannon flashes would work out mounting wise, etc... matt

lol... i guess you'd need to be there to understand some of the stories . I know just the person to send this to, a friend that teaches special needs kids. He'll be rolling from some of the stories i've heard from him and others. matt

from what i've heard/read it is a pretty expensive thing to run, but then again that's what the Donations section is all about. I've made a trip there myself and encourage those that can afford to help out to do so to. He's allowing us all to play and learn on his $ and that is something noble in my opinion. Let's just hope that he gets enough advertising and donation to at least keep him in the black in the long run. Thanks HH... matt

the two XLR inputs will come in handy in the long run, but are you going to do anything about the stock mic hanging out there in the breeze for the time being? matt -
if you're not against lens other then Cannon. I'd say try a Sigma 15 out b/c they're a heck of a lot cheaper and the people i know that have bought one have been happy. matt

This place by where I work has a pretty good stock of most everything usually and may be worth a call to check. Delaware Camera & Video 2635 Delaware Ave # C, Buffalo, NY 14216 Phone: (716) 877-3317 they've got three other locations in the area, but I think the one that # will get you what you need. matt

Good Source for batteries and chargers?
newshooter12 replied to askir's topic in Photography and Video
There is a retail place in my area called "The Battery" that sells or makes just about any type of battery out there. Not sure what they charge, but i know they carry camcorder batteries. A quick online search found these and a couple other sites: http://www.batterymart.com/ http://www.batterybarn.com/mpoint.html http://www.batterystation.com/ http://www.energizer.com/ http://www.batterydirectory.com/manf.php3 http://www.batterybank.com/ there are lots more from what I can see, but I'm tired so good luck. matt -
Not everyone at my dz shoots stills with the video. From what I have seen, the ones that do hand off a finished roll to the customer and I don't think there is an extra charge for it. One videographer that posts here has, in addtion to video, a still SLR and a digi that he's started using recently. He's been handing each student a 4X6 print from some point in their jump, plane ride or such with their completed video. Just my $.02 from what I've seen at my small dz. matt

thanks for the laughs... they remind me of a college friend.... my vote is for: "17. Why Don't Blind People Like To Sky Dive? Because It Scares The Dog. "

I agree with blair. If you put the money towards an SLR and a nice lens or two you'll still have the lenses to work with when you upgrade to a digital SLR. that way all you'll have to invest in later is the digi body rather then having to shell out for glass too. matt

I always thought of wallet prints as something to get people to buy other larger prints.
