  1. Why would you vote "No" on this? And why would you vote "Yes" on this? These are the two propositions that I have the strongest feelings about, yet my votes are opposite of yours. I think that the "War on Drugs" needs to involve a lot more research into better treatment programs, which is one of the things that Prop 5 provides for. And Prop 8 is just ridiculous; it is beyond me why anyone would want to keep homosexual couples from being able to get married. I'm currently holding up my vote because I'm torn about Prop 2. And there are a few props that I don't know enough about, so I probably won't vote on them unless I can find time in the next week or so to read them.
  2. Or maybe it would teach them that people don't want to have the server's political views shoved in their faces while they're having lunch at Chili's.
  3. I agree. His best bet now is to hold on and hope that Biden says some really stupid things in the next two weeks. Well, unless he drops Palin and puts Hillary Clinton on his ticket, or perhaps Tina Fey.
  4. Seriously? You couldn't claim to be a fan of Roy Rogers? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVq9-GtlvLU The song was the first thing I thought of when I saw Happy Trail. I actually had to think for a sec about why it would be obscene. I like the suggestion of Run Way.
  5. Speaking of Palin, apparently she wants a federal marriage amendment. Just one more reason why her and McCain won't be getting my vote. http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/467179.aspx
  6. You know, I noticed that I kept finding myself sort of feeling sorry for McCain, though I wasn't sure why. But now that you mention it, maybe that is why - he did sort of come across as a grouchy old man. And I guess I hate to think of it that way, because I do have a lot of respect for him.
  7. I was wondering about that too. But it was so out there that I decided that that couldn't have been what he meant to say. (?)
  8. Smoking pot and prostitution are certainly "not as bad" as breaking into someone's house and acting violently toward someone else. And personally, I don't think anyone should be in jail for smoking pot or for prostitution. I think it's pretty stupid for either of those things to be illegal.
  9. Did she say why? I didn't see the first 30 minutes of it, but from what I did see, I wouldn't say that McCain "won." He seemed a bit angry, and his attempts to attack Obama didn't seem to go off very well. But I don't really think anyone "wins" these debates anyway.
  10. Dangit, I ended up watching most of it anyway, just because it was on while I was making/eating dinner. But it actually turned out to be a little more interesting than the other two.
  11. No, I'm not going to watch it. I'm 99.9999% sure of which Presidential candidate I'm voting for, so my time would be better spent reading up on the propositions and the City Council candidates.
  12. This probably explains a lot . . .
  13. Oh, come on. Where's your sense of adventure???
  14. So, what do you prefer in the tax cuts that the candidates are proposing? Or do you think it would be more fair if everyone simply paid a straight percentage of their income (no breaks for kids, homes, etc.)?
  15. Hmm... No, my hair's not too dark. And I'm short and not too muscular. No stubble either, since I just shaved my legs. But my nickname is "Shotgun." Doesn't that give me some hillbilly cred?
  16. Cool, I guess that makes me a hillbilly too.
  17. You know, with the tone of the McCain campaign (and their supporters) lately, it's sounding like there is more likely to be violence if McCain loses.
  18. Green Bean Casserole is a pretty hearty vegetarian side dish, especially if you add cheese to it. I think it's tasty, but I don't know about knocking the socks off of anyone.

    Maverick

Wasn't there a parachute called a "Maverick" too? I think that was what I was renting when I first started jumping.
  20. Right, but he didn't say "I wish I had done more bombing." There's a bit of a difference. (I'm not condoning what he did, but I understand how strongly he felt about stopping the war in Vietnam.)
  21. When did he specifically say that he wished he had "done more bombing"? Or is that just your interpretation?

Nah, I just feel like sitting here at my desk, sipping yerba mate' and doing calculus. Oh, but I did just take two ibuprofen pills instead of one. I guess that was sort of mavericky.
  23. Yeah, I think the original lemon-lime is the best when it's watered down. I usually just buy the powdered stuff and make it myself. It's cheaper than buying the pre-made stuff, and it's easy to make it whatever strength you want.
  24. I don't know about a healthy substitute, but if I drink Gatorade, I usually dilute it to at least half-strength by mixing it with water.
