  1. Nice comeback from McCain today: Umm.... Personally, I don't want a President who wants to "test" our enemies.
  2. You don't have the Rick Springfield album too???
  3. I think they do, but I'm not sure. Either way, it's not a logical reason to ban same-sex marriage, but it's about the only argument they have. Well, that and they want to "protect the sanctity of marriage." But I think heterosexuals have already done a pretty good job of destroying the "sanctity of marriage" with our ~50% divorce rate. If anything, gay people should be trying to ban us from getting married.
  4. Yeah, that doesn't make sense. I guess I'm not familiar with the gun laws here in CA.
  5. . . . would you seek to ban strip clubs? Or would you just try to get the schools to stop teaching such a thing? Just curious. A lot of people who are for Prop 8 (banning same-sex marriage) here in CA argue that if we allow same-sex marriage then it will be taught in schools. Now I personally don't see that as a bad thing, but it makes sense to me that if we don't like what is being taught in schools then we should try to get the schools to change what they're teaching. It makes no sense to simply make something illegal because we don't want it taught in schools. There are currently plenty of things that are legal that are not taught in schools.
  6. I considered it, but I prefer the Democratic candidate, so I will vote for her. But I'm pretty sure the incumbent Republican candidate (Mary Bono Mack) will win anyway.
  7. OK, I'll agree with that. That was a bad move from the McCain campaign.
  8. This particular woman seems to want to do anything to get her candidate elected. It does not mean that "Republicans" (as a whole) will do "anything" to get elected. I doubt that most of them approve of what she did.
  9. And kallend, by implying that this really has anything to do with McCain, you're being just as bad as MikeForsythe for starting this thread.
  10. I don't think it makes him look good or bad. The only impression I've gotten from this story is that that young woman has some serious problems (and she needs to do some time in jail to think about what she did, just as the "black man" would have done if he had really assaulted her). But geez, why do some of you people hate Obama so much that you're still trying to turn this into something negative against him? If anything, it's negative against McCain, but I won't even make that distinction because I don't think that McCain had anything to do with this. And let me ask you: If the story had turned out to be true, would you be saying that it makes McCain look bad that someone hates him so much that they'd beat up a young woman and carve a "B" into her face?
  11. Satire is certainly different from a thread started to _seriously_ imply that Obama was responsible for one of his supporters assaulting a woman who supports McCain. I know that if I was the one who started this thread, I would have my tail between my legs right now, and I'd be apologizing for making such an allegation.
  12. Hey, look - they put one of my pics on sleeveface.com: http://www.sleeveface.com/ It's the one called "Lollcat." (Right now, it's the first pic, but it will probably move.)
  13. I don't know, but it looks like this particular criminal prefers McCain.
  14. That's good. But even if the story had been true, I think it was in pretty poor taste to start a thread implying that it was somehow Obama's fault. Now that the truth has (apparently) come out, I'm sure you don't think it's McCain's fault that some psycho McCain supporter pulled this stunt, just as it wouldn't have been Obama's fault if some psycho Obama supporter had assaulted a woman.
  15. Odd, in this news video, they say that the victim claimed she was knocked unconscious and then woke with a stinging sensation on her face (not knowing what had happened to her face). But in this news report, it says: So I'm not really sure what to believe about this case at this point. Could be true, could be a hoax. I don't think it's wise to jump to any conclusions either way.
  16. That's so cool that you got to meet Obama, even if your cell phone made him look like cardboard. And now that you've made me dream of Chico Marx again, I have to post one of my favorite Marxist moments: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Xww7UdiXY18
  17. Ah, maybe that's why he's my favorite. I always thought it was just his piano playing.
  18. Yes, I guess I shouldn't have mentioned the car wreck. The main point was that I don't think injuries and pregnancy can be compared to each other; they're just not the same thing.
  19. I don't know. When I was badly injured in a car wreck as a teenager, I think they did quite a bit of stuff to save my life without parental consent. But yeah, I guess it didn't involve a surgical procedure. And I don't see getting pregnant as being similar to getting injured. But I can understand your opinion on the subject, even though I disagree.
  20. Well, she can also get pregnant without parental consent.
  21. Thanks, and I agree with that website about ending drug prohibition, though I don't see that happening any time soon. But at least Prop 5 is a step in the right direction for California.
  22. That link doesn't seem to be working.
  23. Hey, but I bet she didn't get $150K spent on her makeup and wardrobe in any of those other pageants.
  24. OK, but since you posted what your votes were, I was just curious why you feel the way you do about those particular propositions.
  25. Well, I have actual reasons for voting one way or another (not "because I'm a liberal"), and I would hope that he does too. So I'm curious to hear what his actual reasons are.
