Not everyone who is too big for the coach seats is morbidly obese or even overweight. There are people who weigh 200 pounds who are not overweight. It doesn't seem fair to me that they should pay almost twice as much as me to fly just because they were born a different size.
-
I just don't see that working very well. And actually, I guess the airlines already have somewhat of a solution - first class. For those who can afford it, the seats are bigger and more comfortable. For those who can't afford it, we get to sit in cattle class and deal with the discomfort (or choose to not fly).

I think that planes are a problem for anyone who is of above-average size. Hell, I'm a small person, and I find the coach seats to be uncomfortably small. I sat next to a really tall guy once (not overweight), and there was just no way he could sit in his seat without spilling over into my space a little bit. I'm sure it wasn't any more comfortable for him than it was for me. I'm not sure what could be done about that problem though. It doesn't seem fair for the airlines to force bigger people to pay for two seats or anything like that. But if I'm annoyed by sitting next to a large person, it's the airline I'm annoyed at for not figuring out a better solution to this common problem; I'm not annoyed at the other person for being bigger than me. (Unless they're being rude and not even trying to stay out of my space, but that applies to people of any size.)

Don't forget the lycopene. My ketchup bottle says that lycopene is really good for me, and that ketchup contains a lot of it, so that must be true!

That place looks pretty cool. I like the Rock Bottom room: http://www.madonnainn.com/rooms/143.php

Maybe Al Gore invented the swine flu: http://willyloman.wordpress.com/2009/04/26/al-gores-venture-capital-firm-set-to-reap-rewards-on-swine-flu/

I blame it on the fascist pigs. Or maybe just the regular pigs.

Yes, once. I just told her that I couldn't send the item until the check cleared, which it did, and the transaction was OK. If the guy wants you to send the item before the check clears (especially for that amount), then he is being unreasonable.

I would spend the time with my closest family and friends. It wouldn't really matter where we were or what we were doing. With only 24 hours left, I think that certain people would be much more important to me than activities or locations.

FYI: For anyone who uses Netflix, it's available in the "watch instantly" stuff. (I haven't actually watched it yet, but it's in my queue.)

Well, in a conversation about diet, the garden burger is probably better than the Big Mac.
-
Amen to that. Big Macs are gross. The fries at In and Out are lame though, but I guess that's a good thing because it means I don't have fries with my burger when I go there. Whataburger's better, but they don't have those out here in CA. Funny, a thread about obesity is now making me hungry.

Hmm.... Miss California vs. Perez Hilton? I'm trying to form an opinion on the matter, but I just can't seem to care.

Do You Feel You are Fully Capable of Making Decisions for Yourself?
Shotgun replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes; that is why I got married. -
Hmm . . . http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2618890;search_string=drinking;#2618890 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2316799;search_string=drinking;#2316799 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2702235;search_string=drinking;#2701902 Uh, yeah. Whatever, dude.

That's a direct quote! You sick bastard! Hey, I may be sick, but I'm not a bastard.

My vote is for the whole thread. It started out with a point, and then it quickly degenerated into an argument about the meaning of the word "lie" and then "death" and "suicide." And now the conversation is so convoluted that no one seems to be talking about the same thing, and the folks who are still insisting on proper usage of the words "lie" and "death" are being accused of wanting to ban all guns. There were a couple of things I wanted to reply to, but I figured in this mess I'd just be accused of wanting to put guns in the hands of all criminals and mental patients. Oh well. Typical gun debate, I suppose.

Well, if that was completely true, then Palin would have won the election for McCain.
-
That's OK. When I first read it I thought you meant that you didn't have to register, but then I realized that this was probably what you were talking about. I think the only time you have to re-register is if you move to a different county.
-
No you don't. Show up and show identification, and you'll be given a provisional ballot that will allow you to vote. Once they verify that you haven't already voted by mail or in another precinct, they will count your vote. Are you saying that you don't have to register to vote in Texas? Or are you saying that you don't have to re-register if you haven't voted in a while?

There are quite a few examples of "same sex relationships" in nature. The Bonobo is one of the most common examples. But it's not a good analogy either way, since we generally don't decide what is acceptable in society based on the behavior of other animals.
-
That's quite a different situation from donating sperm to someone that you are not in a relationship with. This sounds like you are suggesting that all sperm donors should be responsible for the children that the donor recipients have.(?) I guess I'm not understanding your argument. Are you trying to say that same-sex couples are generally less responsible than heterosexual couples?
-
That would be "ma'am." Not really. It makes sense to me that if a man is donating his sperm to _anyone_ that he would either want to ensure that he will never be responsible for child support, or accept the fact that he might be held responsible if he doesn't have a contract. And I agree that a same-sex marriage should be treated exactly like a heterosexual marriage. But if one group is allowed "marriage" while the other group is only allowed "civil unions" then there will likely be some differences. But I have seen no evidence of homosexual couples (in general) taking their relationships or their parental responsibilities any less serious than heterosexual couples.
-
That sounds like a good reason for sperm donors to make sure they have a contract saying that they will never be held responsible for child support from anyone who receives their donation. But it doesn't sound like a good reason for banning same-sex marriage or civil unions. I'll bet that most gay and lesbian couples would agree with you about this. And I could probably find tons of examples of irresponsible parenting from heterosexual couples (including parents who just walk away), so this argument doesn't make much sense.

You're citing the campaign speech of a candidate for President. So you're getting the usual sound bites. OK, so is there a record somewhere of him saying that he wants no civilians to be able to own firearms? (Which is what both Tom and John seem to be suggesting.)
