Sounds dangerous. Don't do it!!!!

Cute! What kind of experiment is it?

Yeah, that was a great scene. I particularly liked Hank in that one. He's probably my favorite character too. Have you seen the "minisodes" on AMC's website? http://blogs.amctv.com/breaking-bad/2009/02/original-minisodes.php "Wedding Day" is pretty funny, and "Good Cop, Bad Cop" is funny too.

I've had Allstate's auto insurance for about 15 years, and I've been very happy with them. I also have my home insurance with them now, but I think they stopped accepting new customers for that, so I'm not sure if they offer insurance for renters.

I still love this show too, but I'm a few episodes behind right now because I haven't had time to watch it. (The last one I saw was the "I'm no skank" episode with the two junkies and the kid - thought it was very good.) I'll have to have a Breaking Bad marathon once school is out and watch the remaining episodes. You've got me trying to figure out why I like the show so much, and I really don't know. I don't get the "what if" feeling that you're talking about (maybe my life has been too wild ), and I don't really relate to any of the characters either. I think it's just a fun show to watch - and a bit disturbing too, but only enough to keep me coming back. And my other favorite show is Weeds, so now I'm wondering why my two favorite shows are about drug dealers. I'm pretty sure I have no fascination with drugs or drug dealers, so I guess it's just a coincidence.

Actually, I've never tried it, but I'm curious.

How are they able to sell that? I'm pretty sure coca leaves are in the same legal category as cocaine here in the U.S.(?) So I wonder if they are just selling leaves that have been decocainized (but not being honest about it), or if they are actually selling an illegal product?

partisanship & the demographics of Speakers Corner
Shotgun replied to nerdgirl's topic in Speakers Corner
FWIW, I didn't vote in any of those polls you listed (or this one). I'd probably be considered a liberal, but since the poll didn't simply ask which party we identify closest with, I probably didn't vote because of "the rest of the question" and not seeing a choice that worked for me. Just thought I'd mention that, since there are probably others who didn't vote for that same reason. -
lawmakers gave the thumbs-up to allowing loaded guns in parks.

Sounds like something that will die there. And I don't really see anything in the section I quoted to indicate that Obama would support this particular bill. And personally, I'm not completely opposed to the idea of licensing. But from what I've read, I wouldn't support this particular bill, though I might support something that was less intrusive. As for the bill that this thread was started about, I think Obama will probably sign it, and I think it's a good thing. (But I think it's ridiculous that it was attached to the credit card bill.) -

Is this what you're referring to? (Taken from rhaig's link.) -

Regarding D/liberals and R/conservatives, I haven't noticed either one being in the minority here. Seems fairly even to me. And I don't really consider myself in either group, though the last political quiz I took said that I was a Libertarian-leaning liberal, so maybe I do lean more in that direction. -

I'm curious which websites you're referring to (honestly). I'm aware of his voting record, but other than that, I've never seen much of anything about guns on any of his websites. The current whitehouse.gov lists his agenda, and I haven't seen anything regarding guns on there. (Maybe I missed it?) -
Have you ever been so sick you wanted to die?
Shotgun replied to skittles_of_SDC's topic in The Bonfire
Yes, many times. -
Definitely. This is similar to the case of the boy whose parents don't want him receiving chemo: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090520/ap_on_re_us/us_forced_chemo;_ylt=Ar19CbAVg2YHUU.YMcJxNo2s0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTJoOWFqYTI3BGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMDkwNTIwL3VzX2ZvcmNlZF9jaGVtbwRjcG9zAzgEcG9zAzE1BHNlYwN5bl90b3Bfc3RvcnkEc2xrA2FycmVzdG9yZGVyZQ-- I must say that I feel fortunate to live in a time when modern medicine is as good as it is, but it definitely has its limitations. As adults, we certainly should not be required to take the advice of doctors when it comes to our own health, but what rights do parents have when it comes to their children? That's a tough question, and I don't know the answer.

Sure, send 'em on. Just keep 'em small enough so that they don't hurt anybody.

I didn't feel the one today, but I was out in San Jacinto. (And I'm glad I didn't feel it, because I was handling dangerous chemicals at the time.) I think the one on Sunday turned out to be a 4.7, but I felt it pretty good at my house in Murrieta. Not particularly strong, but it seemed longer than usual - a little rollercoaster ride.

It's funny to see the different ways that people are trying to explain this. I agree that the faulty logic is the adding of 2 to 27, because that makes no sense. The men gave $30 (3x$10) and they got $3 back ($1 each, so now they've each paid $9 - 3x$9 = $27). So those 3 dollars are accounted for, and now we're left with the $27 that they paid. 25 went to the desk clerk and 2 went to the bellboy (25+2= 27), so now those 27 dollars are accounted for. 27+3=30, so nothing's missing. Yeah, I know you already figured it out, but this is the way that I explained it to myself.

Nevermind. I shouldn't try to do math before coffee.

Frogs. Lots and lots of Pacific Tree/Chorus Frogs that sing me to sleep at night at this time of year.

Some people. I think most of us choose both, and Yahoo contains both. (Which I'm sure you know; I was just curious about your comment.) Anyhow, it's nice having the web, with so many different sources of information. We probably get a better picture now of what's really going on, compared to when we just had TV or radio, and so on. And without having to listen to the stuff we don't care about (beauty pageants) in order to hear the stuff we do care about.
-
I'm not sure why you threw Yahoo in with CNN. (Instantaneous news?) I find Yahoo to be a good place to go for news - lots of different sources (including NPR) in one place.

After posting this, I just remembered an article I recently read about a doctor who made up a fake medical condition called "cello scrotum" many years ago, had it published in a medical journal, and even had it referenced several times by the medical community: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/low/health/7853564.stm Yikes!
