  1. Does this need to be repeated? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. BTW the racing from the video link below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3y0tbdpcFc&playnext_from=TL&videos=WKobV7qfbqk comes from the closing laps of last year's last race of the ALMS season out at Laguna Seca in CA and it is some of the best racing (IMHO) you will ever see. Better than anything NASCAR has to offer and even better than most F1 races. It was just two guys racing like their lives depending on winning and neither guy would back down. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. I prefer road course races to oval racing. But there is a lot of skill and concentration needed in oval racing (just as a lot of skill and concentration is needed in road racing). I suspect some people like NASCAR because: 1) The cars are fast. 2) You see most of the track at the same time. 3) Rarely does someone built a large insurmountable lead. 4) There are a lot of crashes. Formula One has the most technologically advanced cars and arguably the best drivers, but even Formula One occasionally suffers from the boring procession style of racing (though all four races this year have been very dynamic). My favorite form of racing is the mixed class Prototype and GT cars found at LeMans and the ALMS series (Grand Am also has a similar mixed class racing format). With these mixed classes there is constant passing going on throughout the race. But like any sport, you have to be interested in the sport in order to watch it on TV. How many of us can watch golf on TV? I can't, but millions do. How many whuffos care about watching skydiving videos? Most of us have experienced the glossy eyes of our whuffo friends as we force them to watch videos of our jumps. I am a fan of auto racing and I have tried to watch NASCAR. But I can't. I watch 5 minutes of a race, I get bored and I switch channels. Or maybe it is all due to NASCAR's love of their beloved "Yellow" flag. Look JJ is beginning to build a lead with 5 laps left in the race. Oh look there is a sandwich wrapper on the track. Time for the "Yellow" flag, we don't want JJ running away with the race while the menacing sandwich wrapper is out there. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. Karen, it's not supposed to be a political thread. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. Obama will probably will another Nobel Peace Prize if he was to open up a new front in the war. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. GWB spent like an out of control kid in a candy store. But Obama is making GWB look like a fiscal conservative with all of his spending. But out of control governments extend beyond just Federal politics. Most people ignore municipal governments, but it is these very clowns who often give us our largest tax increases. I could go on and sight many examples where municipal governments create new programs disguised as one thing, but in reality are nothing more than tax grabs. But the list would be too lengthy and there are just not enough hours in the day to comb through all the corruption. It sure would be nice if governments (Federal, State/Provincial as well as Municipal) made an attempt to control their spending. Yes taxes are a reality in modern life, but there is only so much that these three levels of governments can do before they tax the living hell out of everyone. Spend, spend, spend, tax, tax, tax ... that is all these three levels of governments do. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. You are correct in asking which Luongo will show up. A great goalie can beat a good team and history is chalked full of great goalies who stood on their heads to defeat the "so called superior" team. Roberto Luongo can be streaky and Ryan Miller is probably the best goalie out there right now. But never could out someone like Martin Brodeur. Time will tell ... let the real season begin. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. Yes the poll has it's faults. Younger people who do not come from well off families would be expected to come in at the lower half of the poll. Paying off your house sooner rather than later helps a lot. I come in just a tad above the median in this poll and I can attribute this to paying off my house in a 15 year time span. Of course I was also lucky in that my house's current value has almost tripled from what it was bought at. Not that it matters but I wonder if the one person who voted > 10 million was being honest with us here. If they were honest we do have at least one filthy rich person among us. 9. Please visit this Speakers Corner link if you want to participate in a non-political skydivers economic class poll (well at least I am trying to make it non-political). It is basically asking you to anonymously vote for your net worth. The total value of all your assets minus your liabilities (ie: your debts). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. Okay this poll is far from scientific. It has it's faults since things like age are not factored in (also sorry to all the people outside of North America, the values seen are not in your native currency). But this is the non-political version of the Skydivers Economic Class poll and the categories are NOT salaries but instead are "Net Worth" figures. You know, add up all of your assets you and your possible spouse share. Things like real estate, stock investments and other property like cars, boats, yes your skydiving gear and subtract the debt from these assets that you owe to give you your net worth. PS: If we were to give this poll to the entire skydiving community I would be willing to bet that tons of people would say that they are in the negative. But most of those folks are off living and working on the DZs and do not read this web site. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. I would like to see a Hawks vs Habs or Hawks vs Bruins (original six) final, but that won't happen. Teams in the East to watch? Caps and Pens ... likely no one else. Teams in the West? Sharks, Hawks, Canucks, maybe the Wings or Coyottes? But what do I know. My crystal ball was made in China and I am not sure if the glow coming from my Chinese made crystal ball is it's immense powers or just toxic sludge. It's probably just toxic sludge and it's causing my brain to hemorrhage. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. One of the reasons why salaries are not the best way to gauge polls like this. A six figure salary in Silicon Valley or Manhattan does not go as far as a six figure salary in most other parts of the country. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. You did forget independents. But I guess people could treat "NON-US" as independents if people really wanted to participate here. BTW ... salary is not the best indication of wealth or poverty. A more accurate way to gauge things is assets versus liabilities. But that would make for a boring poll. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. If you want to work towards ending the insanity of the Federal Reserve and the rest of the Central Banks around the world, then you have an ally. If you want to work towards getting government spending under control (yes this does include military spending), then you have an ally. But if you just want to push for raising taxes for out of control government spending, well I think you know where I stand. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. What you think I have an issue with someone who is rich? How many times in this thread have I mentioned I could careless how much money someone has. I just find it hilarious when a rich person whines about other rich people. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. Oh my my ... that hurts ... NOT For someone who has connections all the up to the White House and owns a fucking airplane you sure whine a lot about rich people. I'd be willing to bet that 99.999999999% of the poor people out there in the world would agree that you are a rich elitist who does not have a clue what life is like on main street. Say Hi to Michelle Obama for the rest of us low life slugs when you go the opera the next time. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. You own a firearm? Correct? To a Canadian Liberal this automatically makes you a neo-con even though we know here you are not one. I could be wrong, but my gut tells me this was an IFR landing gone wrong. But there is no shortage of "special sauce" cool aid being consumed north of the border today. http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2010/04/10/poland-zaczynski-obit.html http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2010/04/10/poland-government-plane-crash.html Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. There has been a lot of cool aid being consumed this morning in my media news sources north of the border. But chances are likely that this was merely an IFR landing gone bad. What is really messed up is why were so many high ranking officials traveling together? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. Tell me something that I don't already know. It's not like I am an 18 year old kid coming fresh out of school. I have be in the work force a long long time, filed many tax returns, made investments blah blah blah am very much aware of how the system works. What's the problem here? There are numerous avenues for people to reduce their taxes. If the problem is that governments are addicted to taxation when the sources of tax revenues are drying up, might I suggest the best way for governments to handle this issue is to look for ways to control their out of control spending? Yes this includes military spending. Or is that too much for the Leftists / Marxists of the USA to accept? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. You know the money this millionaire has, was taxed at some point in time. Are you suggesting that it should be taxed more than once? Good grief Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. The millionaire pays no income tax if they make no income on work they may have done or on their investments. But they will pay certain sales taxes depending on their consumer spending? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. He never said such a thing, so why are you calling him pathetic? Here we have yet another tax happy person. Governments should be looking to reduce their spending (yes this includes the military) instead of looking for new tax revenue sources. By the way, they (politicians) all suck. Too bad you carry so much hatred in your head (as seen by many of your posts) towards those on the right for you to recognize this. "None of the Above" should be the next Prez. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. Of course the really offensive word is [[[[CENSORED]]]]. Negro was fairly commonly used some 20-25 years ago. Since then, it has been replaced with the terms Black or Colored. Might I suggest you get with the times and join everyone else. This way there is little confusion. Someone might take offense when you call them a Negro when you really thought they were a [[[[CENSORED]]]]. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. ROFLMAO ... who's that? who is my hero? Just because I despise Leftist / Marxist wankers does not mean I subscribe to something which you seem to want to allege here. My favorite candidate has been "None of the Above" for a long time. But you are showing us a little something the way you worship the Clinton clan. You should open up your eyes a little and pay more attention to who the Clintons ally themselves with. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. Wall Street and Main Street are not the same. Wall Street often makes no sense whatsoever. A company could be a very well run profitable company, but if Wall Street wants to do something to this company they will. Likewise a company could be a poorly run operation, but once again if Wall Street wants to manipulate the stock, they will. Money is made on Wall Street in options when the markets are going up as well as down. Nope good news for Wall Street is only good news for those with interests close to Wall Street regardless of who occupies the White House. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
