  1. I came across an interesting (very unscientific) video from the people at "Motor Trend" where they compared a Porsche Boxster Spyder to an Tesla Roadster electric sports car. The Porsche Boxster they used is not your standard Boxster but instead is the light weight sport version (320 hp 3.4 flat six cylinder engine with a 6 speed manual transmission) coming in at about the price of $73,000 USD. The Tesla they used is not the standard Tesla but was their top of the line sport version of the Tesla electric car (288 hp single speed transmission) and it comes in at about $130,000 USD. At the beginning of the video the two fellows definitely appear to be rather bias in their opinions in regards to their preferred car (both guys do drive both cars around the Willow Park race track). But at the end of the video I think they both gave pretty honest opinions. http://www.motortrend.com/av/roadtests/convertibles/112_1004_2010_tesla_roadster_sport_2011_porsche_boxster_spyder_comparison_video/index.html Now I don't know that many "average" people out there who can afford a $70,000 car let alone a $130,000 car. Plus if I did have $130,000 lying around to spend on a car I know I would be looking at something other than the Tesla. But one thing the fellow representing the Tesla did say that I thought was valid was that "The Tesla made the cut, that it was finally worth comparing". Now in my opinion, when an electric car wins the "24 Heures du Mans" auto race, then we will know the time of electric cars has come. Until then I can only see electric cars being confined to the urban environment (the perfect place for them). Oh and if an electric car was ever to win at Lemans, it will probably come from a manufacture like Porsche. But then again, I do not try to hide my bias to the great German auto maker. 3. If I ever buy a Hybrid car, I want it to be one of these. PS: click the "Start web special" button and watch the intro if you are so inclined. (IMHO they make the best commercials). I'd like the GT3 R Hybrid model, but I am sure the 918 Spyder rocks as well.
  4. You should have added a 3rd option to your poll: "I have one in my rig and have purposely jumped with it turned off". The AAD is a great tool. It just may save your life if you are ever disabled in freefall. My primary rig has one and my second rig used to have one but it's life span expired and I never bothered to replace it. Sometimes we make jumps where the freefall is in a very controlled environment and under some extremely rare cases the AAD can do more harm than good. When I do a jump with many other people in the back of my mind there is a little peace of mind knowing the AAD is there to help if I am involved in a freefall collision. But when I do a hop n' pop, I don't need the AAD. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  6. LOL ... May I introduce you to Ruby Dhalla? Ruby Dhalla is a very powerful Liberal politician. So powerful that last year she (and family) decided to use their power against several foreign nannies who they employed in their home. You can read more about Ms Dhalla and how her and her family treat their employees here. I wonder ... does Ruby Dhalla and the rest of her family pay their employees an equitable share on the vast fortune the Dhalla clan takes in every year with her political connections? She is after all a Liberal, you know champion of making sure immigrants are treated fairly and not taken advantage of. Well if people bothered to do a little research on the Ruby Dhalla nanny-gate fiasco, they will see that this Liberal champion of immigrants, allegedly confiscated their employees passports and forced them to do non-nanny jobs making them work 12 to 16 hour days 5 days a week for a total of $250 per week. Hmmm. 12 times 5 divided by 250 ... hmmm ... Ruby Dhalla the champion of immigrants was paying her immigrant workers a little over $4 and hour. I think the Dhalla family thinks they are still in India the way they pay their employees slave wages. But Ruby Dhalla is a Liberal politician. She is entitled to her entitlements. 7. Canada does have a lot of good to offer the world. It is one of the rare countries where people of all different races and cultural backgrounds live and coexist with each other in relative peace (even more than the USA). You don't really know if you are or are not racist until you spend sometime working in a large Canadian city. I know on my return to Canada in 2005/2006 I spent a year in Vancouver and it was a real wake up call when I found myself working in an office where there was only 3 Canadian born white guys and the rest were people from all over the world (China, India, Pakistan, Middle East, Eastern Europe, South America, etc, etc, etc). I shared this space with a Muslim from Pakistan and he was a super nice guy. But numerous times a day he would pray out loud to Allah while I was trying to concentrate on my work. I really wanted to smack him ... not because I am anti Muslim but simply because he was making too much noise while I was trying to concentrate. As I said it was a wake call after spending 8 years in Colorado which is mainly white, lots of Mexicans and some blacks (not many). I don't care what color of skin someone has, what religion they follow ... all I care is that they do the best to their abilities supporting themselves and their families and do not come to the country to sponge off of the over generous nanny state. I did not have to worry about any of my co-workers from almost every country in the world, they were all there to work. However there are some people who are taking advantage of Canada's generosity. 8. Dude the bigotry I speak of has nothing to do with Ann Coulter. They will never admit it, but the Left holds just as much hatred that they accuse the Right of carrying. Spend some time reading the CBC blogs and this will be apparent. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. Maybe there is a reason why white men can not jump. We lack the spring loaded 3rd leg. Back in the late 1980s I was playing in some college caliber full contact summer hockey in Canada and one of the blokes on the team was a brother. Well let me tell you this fellow was mighty proud of his package and he was not afraid to show it off in the locker room. And what could we say? Our brother had a larger package than any one of us white folk. Not sure if he played basketball where he could put his 3rd leg to good use, but he was a mighty fine hockey player. Not good enough for the NHL (we did have one NHLer playing with us that summer and he was the complete package). But nevertheless the brother was blessed with great hockey skills and a package that rivals Obama's HC package. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. Coulter is a bigot and her beliefs are founded in hatred. In Canada, free speech does not include hate speech. One only needs to read the blogs on the publicly funded CBC website to see that there is no shortage of hatred and bigotry being redirected back at Ms Coulter. Some of this can be expected since Ms Coulter does not try to hide her abrasive opinions and let's face it the CBC is controlled and frequented by the very same people Ms Coulter attacks. But some of it is also Canada's own home grown hatred and bigotry which few want to admit and acknowledge that it exists. In some Canadian circles free speech only exists if you share their views of the world. If you do not share their vision they do not try to hide their own hatred and bigotry. Don't believe me? Just spend sometime reading the CBC blogs with an open mind. Please do not confuse this post as a "I support Ms Coulter" stance because she has views that are contrary to my Libertarian views. I am just calling them as I see them. Racism, hatred and bigotry exists in many communities, not just in the demograhics of Ms Coulter's base supporters. PS: the cancellation of Ms Coulter's speech at the University of Ottawa may seem like a victory to those who oppose her, but they are just adding fuel to her fire that she will just use in the future. For the most part Canada and the USA get along very well, but there is no shortage of "I hate America I want to see them destroyed" Canadians and Ms Coulter will just use this to fuel equal hatred redirected back to Canada. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. I am sorry if you were abused as a child. But guess what, you were not the only one who may have been abused as a youngster and your labeling people of only one political stripe or religious beliefs who did the abuse is bullshit. Guess what my sister was sexually abused and I was physically abused by a Nazi (I shit you not this step-father figure we had to deal with as young children grew up on the other side of World War II ... he was a Hitler Youth and his brother fought on the Russian front ... lucky bastard survived only because he was wounded). And this Nazi step-father figure abused myself and my siblings because we did not buy into his vision of how the world should exist. Guess what? He is not a republican, he hates the USA with a passion and the only people he hates more than the USA are the Jews. And this Nazi is a pro-union big government socialist. So the abuse comes from people on all sides of the political spectrum. BTW ... I left this abusive home at the age of 15 and have been supporting myself ever since. Hard work does pay off when you are motivated (I thank the Canadian military for teaching me responsibility as I could have easily turned into a street thug had I not spent some time in their reserve forces). When life deals you lemons do you site back and whine to the world with a sour face? or do you proceed to make lemonade out of the lemons. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. I doubt very much people who currently have access to decent medical care would want to come up north for their health care. Canada's health care is great if you break you leg (if you do not mind waiting 4-12 hours in the emergency room waiting area). But there are definitely some major problems going on for more serious health care needs. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2010/03/22/bc-bedsoreneglect.html?ref=rss http://www.cbc.ca/canada/prince-edward-island/story/2009/01/26/pe-cancer-diagnosis.html http://www.cbc.ca/news/story/2000/01/28/appendix000128.html http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/story/2009/09/22/mb-breast-cancer-diagnosis-manitoba.html http://www.cbc.ca/canada/newfoundland-labrador/story/2009/05/28/quebec-breast-cancer-diagnosis.html etc, etc, etc ... These problems are not going on everywhere, but would you be happy if one of your relatives died in the hospital because they were neglected by the hospital staff? Would you be happy if one of your relatives died because their condition was misdiagnosed. Canada's socialized health care system is not the system you should be trying to emulate. 13. Humans can not control the weather. If you want to talk about preventing cancer causing toxins from entering our water and our air, then yes I am all ears. But if you think you can control the weather ... well what can I say you live next door to all the entitled head cases in Ottawa, so it's no wonder you think this way. I am out of here ... I have more important things to do than to debate with people who think they can control Mother Nature on the Dorkzone. Adios amigo ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Good ... I welcome 4C degrees warmer. I am tired of freezing my ass off in winter and I have it easy compare to those in colder parts of the prairies than I am. Mother Nature always has and always will be more powerful than humans. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. Mother Nature always has and always will continue to be more powerful than humans. What is the matter? Do you not believe in evolution? Has your new "Climate Change" religious beliefs trumped all logic that Mother Nature will not adapt to an ever changing planet just like she has been doing for billions and billions of years? BTW we have had a great Spring out west, but I remember having to deal with arctic -30 degree temperatures earlier in the season (with Edmonton setting a record some where around -46). 18. Why the warning? I didn't see a PA. Plus why issue only one penalty? If you are going to be sending someone to the box, you really should be calling "off setting" penalties here. Sure in a sport like hockey the referee usually only catches the retaliation. But the evidence of attacks from both sides are out there to read in this thread. But as I said I did not see any PAs. I lot of childish talk ... yes. But no PAs. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. That is just messed up. Welcome back to the 1950s. PS: I like when women wear dresses, but it should be their call, not the school's. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  21. Screw all this healthcare debating. Something important happened today and the NFL has voted to change playoff overtime rules in their games. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5022064 Now if we could only get Obama to bring us a College Football playoff. 23. You forget (or were not aware) I am not religious so this automatically excludes myself from being a Conservative. This also means I disagree with most of the crap Ms Coulter spews. Do not confuse my severe dislike of the "Liberal Party of Canada" for a perceived dislike of Liberal people. I do not agree with everything Liberal people say and do, but the two are very different (Liberal people and the "Liberal Party of Canada"). Being in the USA you and your media pay little to no attention as to what goes on up here. But my dislike of the "Liberal Party of Canada" has everything to do with their long history of stealing money from the Canadian tax payer while they continue to spew lies to their lemmings as they arrogantly still refer to themselves as "The Natural Governing Party, the only people who should ever be allowed to govern in Canuckistan". Back on topic, I could care less about Ms Coulter and her speeches while she is here. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. I am sorry Coulter does nothing for me. Please show me one once of evidence where I have ever supported anything this woman has said. However it is rather interesting that the vice-president of the University of Ottawa Francois Houle has threaten Ms Coulter with a lawsuit if she says anything during her speeches that Mr Houle feels is inappropriate. Obviously free speech only applies to some in this ever so politically correct nation. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
