The driver would not have needed to call 911 if they were driving a 911. Sorry but I could not resist.

Thxs for trying ... The video was not selling anything. It was just raw footage of the various ski races. I don't understand the IOC. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I am curious if people can view a couple of videos I uploaded to YouTube last week. They are videos of the runs the Mens and Ladies medalists made in their respective Downhill alpine ski races during the 2010 Winter Olympics and I get an interesting "copyright" message from the YouTube people saying since the IOC holds the rights to this footage some people in certain countries will not be able to see the videos. But YouTube has not removed my video uploads (and the IOC police are not knocking on my door ready to take me off to their gulag ... yet ROFLMAO). I captured the footage from a website accessing the "Olympic Broadcasting Services" and it is raw video footage of the events void of any TV commentators. I have similar video of the medalists runs for all 5 Mens races and all 5 Ladies races ready to upload. But there is no point uploading these additional races if people can not view these videos. 2010 Mens Olympic Downhill Medalists Video 2010 Ladies Olympic Downhill Medalists Video PS: I am not trying to promote these videos as something I made. I am just trying to promote a sport that I like (Alpine Ski Racing) to allow fans of this sport to view the runs the various medalists made during the Olympics. I have seen the "Hurt Locker" and I did not interpret the movie as "anti-war". I interpreted the movie to be a "war is hell" message. At least from my perspective there is a difference. However I could care less about "The Academy" and their awards. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You should not compare the 1976 Olympics in Montreal to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. The Montreal Olympics were pure corruption committed by certain organizations who were paid to build the facilities but in turn pocketed the money and did little to no work. When Vancouver was awarded the Olympics the economy was beginning to boom. Very few people predicted the global economic recession. But what does Montreal or Vancouver have to do with Danny Williams? Seems to me Mr Williams paid for his own medical care with his own money. Mr Williams should have a say in how is own life is lead, he should have a say in how his medical care is handled shouldn't he? Or do we give up all our own personal sovereignty and instead our future is dictated by government bureaucrats? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
I witnessed something very bizarre the other day. Where I live the police rarely use their sirens. They usually only have their lights flashing when they are off investigating some call. Anyway I am heading south stopped at a traffic light, the light turns green for the north bound traffic just as a cop arrives from the east at the intersection with their lights on and the cop wants to turn right heading north. I could not believe what I saw, the northbound traffic did not yield to the cop with their lights flashing. The cop had to gun it in the merge lane just to get ahead of all these north bound yahoos. It should be common knowledge around where I live, when you see an emergency vehicle with their lights flashing you preferably pull over and stop or at the very least yield to them. BTW ... I live in a safe area. But that does not mean there is no crime. The other week a woman was murdered in her home by her husband. But it is still a very safe part of the city. Property crime is low and besides domestic violence, the only time you hear of crime in my neck of the woods is when it is related to drug gangs and in this case it is not really the street crime it is more a case of some gangster popping off another gangster in their respective upscale homes. I repeat "I DO NOT LIVE IN A DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC, SO HOW THE FUCK CAN I TELL YOU HOW A DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC SHOULD OPERATE". Besides what does your question have to do with Michael Ignatieff? Almost as good as the 2 billion dollars the Liberals stole from the Canadian tax payer with their bogus gun registry. At least with the Olympics there was a benefit. There were economic spin offs and the definitely some added "national pride" which even I enjoyed. Tell me what benefits have we seen from the gun registry? Nada ... nothing ... only Liberal theft and the insanity where fools continue to think criminals register their weapons. How do you like them apples? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
The all suck (the politicians), some just suck more than others. Dalton McGuilty is a case all in himself. But I have a laughable one here with "Special Ed" (Stelmach) who himself is also very laughable. Just to show I am not totally anti-Liberal, I like John Manley. Interesting though how he has distanced himself from the Federal Liberals. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Do not confuse my severe dislike of the "LIEberal Party of Canada" with a perceived dislike of common every day Liberals. My severe dislike of the "LIEberal Party of Canada" is no secret and I do not try and hide it. But this "Canuck is so anti-Liberal" claim is not accurate. Count Ignatula ... aka: Michael Ignatieff the appointed (unelected) leader of the "LIEberal Party of Canada" (with their proven history of stealing money from the tax payer) needs to either trigger an election or STFU. It's quite comical listening to his rants telling anyone who would listen to him that "the current government is the worst and that they should be defeated" and then have him instruct many MPs in his caucus to play hooky in the HoC just like his predecessor Dion did. Earlier in the day I did not know who the alleged twatmuppet was. But I now know who it is. Not that Calvin should be getting a "get out of jail for free card" just because he is a friend on mine. But Calvin is a competent pilot and I am still not worried about him flying a Velo 111 just as long as he is like anyone of us and does not do something dumb while under a high performance wing. Calvin has admitted that he could have handled things better. But this does not need to be blown out of proportion (especially here on the internet). I would be willing to bet that the other jumper and Calvin could come to respect each other (maybe even like each other) for the cool things both of them have done in this world. Neither one of them is your average everyday DZ bumpkin. So let's all kiss and make up ... well maybe not kiss, but you know what I mean. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

This is too funny. In case you do not know who Michael Ignatieff is, he is the appointed (not elected) Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. He was born in Canada to ubber rich aristocratic Russian immigrants. His family is so rich that he spent his youth traveling around the world making self financed movies and authored self published books. He has never worked a day in his life out side of academia, politics and his self financed movie/book ventures. He is on record telling the USA "I am one of you, this is my country too" (he holds a US passport meaning somewhere down the line he was granted US citizenship) and he is also on record saying "he supports torture when it is in the best interest of the state". In 2005 he was living the good life in Boston working at Harvard happy to listen to countless people tell him how smart he was. But then someone in Toronto told him to come back to Canada. If he came back to Canada (after his 30+ year absence) they would make him Prime Minister and he could do anything he wanted once he was in charge of a major resource rich country. But things have not been going well for Mr Ignatieff the politician. In the first time in his life, people are not believing everything he says. Mr Ignatieff had a chance to take a step towards becoming PM yesterday, but he didn't take it because all he cares about are the polls. He could care less about the people he supposedly wants to rule. All he cares about is his ego and mingling with his Bilderberg friends. Here is pretty much what he said yesterday to the media: Ignatieff: "The Harper government is the worst government in the history of humanity. We will not stand by and let them destroy the world". Reporter: "So you will vote against them at the next confidence motion in the House of Commons and thus ensuring their defeat?" Ignatieff: "Yes Liberals will be there to vote against the evil Harper regime". long pause ... Ignatieff: "But we will not be sending in enough MPs to vote against the government and ensuring they are defeated. We are only planning on sending in a select few very vocal MPs." another pause, this time much shorter ... Ignatieff: "Even though we are on record telling the world Harper is the worst man who has ever walked this planet, I do not want to risk running against him and losing an election. I am not ready yet to return home, I am not return to Boston. I want to be King, my friends in Toronto told me they would make me King." Reporter: "WTF?" PS: the current government also has Bilderberg connections. Didn't want anyone to think I was implying only the Liberals are connected to the Bilderberg cartel. CanuckInUSA replied to Calvin19's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Of course a canopy like a Velocity is made for swooping and the vast majority of people who fly cross-braced canopies are swoopers. But the cross-braced canopy is an incredibly efficient wing. One could even argue why more people do not use them. Of course there are valid reasons to counteract this question. You definitely do not want a newbie under a wing that could malfunction on opening more often than their more docile traditional canopy counterparts and you do not want a newbie under a wing that goes south during a malfunction faster than other wings. So I am not saying everyone should be under a cross-braced canopy. But it is an incredible efficient wing and as long as people are told ahead of time "this is how the canopy will perform in a non-swoop landing", there is no reason why a competent canopy pilot could not land a cross-braced canopy on a straight in approach without "OMG they are going to die" coming from the peanut gallery. Once again I do not want to judge the alleged "twatmuppet". I was not there, I do not know what one person said to another person, I do not know what replies were given. I do not know what response was coming from the DZ peanut gallery. But it is not like Calvin is new to the DZ. Unless the turnover rate at this DZ has radically changed and the people jumping there today are 100% not the same people who were there 7 years ago when Calvin first got into the sport, you have to think someone else at the DZ would know who Calvin is and know a little about his background. I believe Calvin knows me well enough to know I would smack him in the head if I ever saw him do some of the stupid things I did when I was learning how to swoop (funny how we learn off of our mistakes if we are lucky enough to survive those mistakes), but as I said "I am not worried about Calvin flying a Velo 111". It is not solely the canopy we need to be focusing on. It is how the person is flying the canopy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
US facing surge in rightwing extremists and militias
CanuckInUSA replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
The demographics of many countries are changing with globalization. So I don't want to dwell on this point too much. People of all shapes and sizes need to realize the world is changing and if they are not willing to adapt to this ever changing world, they will be left behind. But ... If people are not concerned about the soaring public debt, then they are either just complacent sleeping at the wheel or they are in favor of this rising debt and how it will ensure the slavery of future generations. Obama is not solely responsible here. Previous US administrations have definitely added to the debt levels of the USA. But Obama's debt in one year has dwarfed what previous governments have done. If this trend continues (and we know it will) for 3 - 7 more years Obama will go down in the history books like no other president has. I am sorry if you are not concerned about Obama's spending, then well ... LOL ... who am I kidding we already know you like being called comrade. But this is not the line for food, this is the line for shoes. The food line starts over there. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

CanuckInUSA replied to Calvin19's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well ~ I have about 7 times that many jumps and stayin' at about 1:1 is what I consider 'under-kill' ...as in, over 33 years in the sport with no broken bones. I know the OP of this thread ... I have skydived with Calvin, I have BASE jumped with Calvin and I have even flown in airplanes with Calvin. LOL ... if you can believe it, I have been in the airplane with Calvin when he was PIC during an emergency scenario where we lost power to our engines ... and guess what? I am still alive. Calvin is a commercially rated aviator and knows a thing or two about flight. I am not concerned with Calvin flying a Velo 111. Calvin is not a small person but he is not big person either. In this case the Velo 111 is underloaded compared to how a cross-braced canopy can be loaded. If Calvin was swooping this Velo 111 without proper swoop training, then I might be concerned. But it sounds like Calvin was NOT swooping and all he asked was "Is there something special I must do when packing this canopy", in which case my response to Calvin would have been "no ... just pack it like any other skydiving canopy you know". The cross-braced canopy is an incredibly efficient wing. Calvin may not have the appropriate swoop training to be swooping this Velo 111, but he is a competent skydiving canopy pilot, a competent BASE jumping canopy pilot and a competent aviator (there could be 4 dead today if Calvin had panicked during our aircraft emergency we had a few years back). Now I am not going to judge the alleged "twatmuppet". I am sure the alleged "twatmuppet" is competent themselves and had their own reasons for their response. But we do need to remember the "try not to judge a book by it's cover" saying. If the alleged "twatmuppet" knew what some of us know about Calvin, then this thread would never have been needed and the only response would have been "No Calvin there is nothing special to packing a Velo 111, just pack it like any other skydiving canopy". Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
My first canopy off of student status was a Triathlon 220. Then I got Sabre2 190 soon afterward and I enjoyed the 190 so much more. Now it's not a straight "apples-to-apples" comparison in my case. The Triathlon was a 7 cell canopy where the Sabre2 was a 9 cell. However I still liked the 190 so much more. Play it smart and the 190 will be a good wing for you. Play it dumb and it does not matter what wing you are on, except that bigger wings can save you from your mistakes much easier than smaller wings will. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
-
There will be a difference, but not a huge difference. You will likely enjoy the 190 more than the 210. If you are asking is it okay for you to be jumping a 190? ... I am NOT going to bite. I say let the experienced canopy pilots around your local DZ give you that feed back. But before the canopy nazis jump in here, we are talking about a 190. It's not like some new person is asking if it is okay to be jumping a Stiletto 109. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
