You must be a student of Harvard in order to get your free sex change? WTF ... I guess elitist Liberals who are already filthy rich feel that they and only they are entitled to their entitlements. If Elena Kagan wasn't such an elitists she would be lobbying her pal Barak Obama to force all healthcare providers to give free sex change operations, not just those who have the money to attend an elitist Ivy League school such as Harvard. Sounds like a case of discrimination here. Too funny when Liberals are caught discriminating. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

What's the matter Robert? You are upset because you are one of the "Biggest Loser" states? LOL Actually I am not surprised CO has the least amount of obese people. There are so many cool outdoorsy things to do there with fantastic weather most of the time. But 1 in 5 being obese is still pretty high. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

A group in Quebec decided to give Canada a birthday present yesterday with their own act of domestic terrorism, bombing an armed forces recruitment office in the middle of the night. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/quebec/group-claims-responsibility-for-quebec-recruitment-centre-blast/article1626227/ I guess it could have been worse. The bomb could have gone off in the middle of the day while people were in the facility. Oh and yes I was wrong, technically this attacked occurred on July 2nd (3:00 am local time) not July 1st. So it was a belated birthday present. Beginning of a civil war? Probably not. But make no mistake, bombing a Federal building in the middle of the night is an act of terrorism and should not be tolerated in "hug a thug, here is your house arrest for your crime spree" Canada. Jewelry store owner investigated for shooting thief Source: www.cbc.ca PS: I am not 100% certain, but I don't think the police have charged the owner with anything yet in this story from last year. I know I support the guy, after all he was only trying to protect himself and his business after thugs entered his businesses brandishing their own weapons. But little did the low life thugs know that the owner was not about to play the soft easily preyed upon victim. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Should felons and loonies in the US have a right to own guns?
CanuckInUSA replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
What part of "I am onside for felons to NOT be allowed to legally own firearms" do you fail to comprehend. Jeez and I thought University Professors were supposed to be smarter than this. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Those open wheel racers are nasty when your front wheel meet the rear wheels of your opponent. If this had happened 20-30 years ago Mark would have died for sure (even now he still could have died had the car landed some other way). But the destructible modern day race cars and the Hans neck restraint device has made racing much safer than it once was. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Should felons and loonies in the US have a right to own guns?
CanuckInUSA replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
Murders have already proven they do not obey the existing laws. If criminals want to own firearms, you know they will own them regardless of what the laws say. I am still onside in saying they "should not be legally allowed to own them", but let's not be naive here. If they want them, they will have them. It's why Canada's Gun Registry is a joke. The registry has nothing to do with controlling criminals use of firearms and everything to do with taxing law abiding citizens and giving the government the address of whose door to come knocking on in the middle of the night when they want to confiscate. A government that fears law abiding armed citizens is a government citizens should fear. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Maybe it's because they don't want the sales of any moonshine operators being negatively effected. To my knowledge I have never tried real authentic shine (probably why I still have decent eye sight and a functioning liver), but moonshine is way more potent than a wimpy 7% beer. But if you ever want to sample a really good 7% beer, you need to try a McNally's from Big Rock Brewery Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Should felons and loonies in the US have a right to own guns?
CanuckInUSA replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
1) Would that be a medical doctor or someone like a psychiatrist? If it is the later, these are precisely the people I speak of who can be loonies themselves. 2) Now this is a USA oriented thread so I will give you the benefit of the doubt that your judges are more competent than our judges up here north of the border. But many of our judges are not sane. We have a revolving door criminal justice system here where the police tell the judge someone is a danger to society and then the judge turns around and releases them back onto the streets. I have no faith in the judges up here. But as I said, we are talking about judges in the USA, not Canada's failed justice system (thank you very much PET). Should felons and loonies in the US have a right to own guns?
CanuckInUSA replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
Felones should definitely NOT be allowed. However as far as a "loonie" is concerned, well who gets to decide who is loonie? Often the people who think they are qualified to judge someone else are in fact loonies themselves. I assure you whatever normal is, I am not it (as are most skydivers). Does that make me loonie? In retrospective the choice of my moniker was less than ideal. It was kept because people know me here by this name. I guess I could go create a whole new account just to satisfy you. How's this for possible new monikers: - TorontoSucksAss - WhoCaresWhatSkyDekkerThinks Come to think of it, both those names are huge improvements. Maybe I will create a new account just to keep you happy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

First SC thread. Go easy. Carbon Footprint question
CanuckInUSA replied to ntrprnr's topic in Speakers Corner
Without a doubt, humans have had a negative impact on nature and it's creatures. We continue to expand into more and more space on this planet and drive the wild life out of their natural habitat and of course we have destroyed many eco-systems. But humans can not control Mother Nature. Mother Nature always has and always will be more powerful than humans. Instead of thinking "how can we make the planet colder or hotter" we should be focusing on cleaning up the cancer causing toxins we pump into our water and air supplies. For sure we in the western world have cause great damage to the planet, but it's sad to see China and India pumping cancer causing toxins into the environment at an even higher rate. Come on Bill, I am 99.9999% certain you believe in evolution. You know the planet and it's habitat have adapted and will continue to adapt over time. The strong will morph into stronger life forms and the weak will die off. It has been going on like this for billions of years and it will continue. Life on this planet is not going anywhere, until of course that great big ball in the sky 93 million miles from us burns out in a few billion years. Let's put more talk into controlling the cancer causing toxins in our water and air and worry less about CO2. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

LOL ... are you sure you want to be talking about the three people recently arrested for fire bombing a bank after posting a video of their crime on YouTube? This is hardly a good example of the myth of the "superior intellect Liberals proclaim they have over everyone else". What didn't they stop to think anything posted on YouTube could NOT be traced back to them? We leave all sorts of finger prints whenever we engage in the 'net. Sure let's talk about the three people recently arrested for fire bombing a bank in Ottawa. Yeah two are in their 50s and one in their 30s (you would think they would know better). But I guess when one hates Capitalism so much, one is not afraid to engage in violent acts no matter what their age is (so much for the myth that the Left are peace loving tolerant people). Also, one of the three is a retired civil servant (amazing how one can be retired at age 50 sucking on a public pension). I didn't know the public sector had it so well that they could be retired at age 50 free to engage in criminal activities paid for by the tax payer. I sure hope they take his pension away from this retired civil servant. But you know this won't happen since LIEberals feel that people who commit armed robbery, arson and auto theft should not spend time in jail and instead should only be placed under house arrest. Finally, two of three recently attended a course at the University of Ottawa on how to be politically active. Since when was arson an accepted form of peaceful protests? Once again WTF is going on in these social studies classes at the University of Ottawa (a school run by former LIEberal MP Alan Rock architect of the failed 2+ billion dollar Gun Registry). The vast majority of peaceful protesters were employed people (blue and white collar) with families to take care of. The vast majority of violent thugs were unemployed youth from the underground economy and some (of course not all) university students. While CSIS is off watching radical Islam and how some of our politicians are being paid off by the Chinese in this country, I would also hope CSIS is monitoring what is going on in some of the University classrooms across this country. I give two thumbs up to the University educated scientists, engineers, medical students and future business leaders. But we really need to keep a closer eye to what some of the social studies professors are doing with their indoctrinations. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Of course not every protester was violent. But the fact remains that what started off as a perceived peaceful protest turned violent and the peaceful protesters did nothing to stop this violence. The police could not possibly be in every corner of the city. Their mandate was to keep the protesters away from the world leaders and they succeeded in that regard. Don't thank me, I had nothing to do with it. Thank the politicians (from all parties) who continue to try and buy votes with infrastructure spending (whether or not they succeed with your vote is irrelevant). I am onside saying Toronto was the wrong venue for this meeting. For that Harper was wrong to have them there. I do not know what he was thinking. Harper is far from perfect. He has definitely made mistakes along the way. We just happen to have nothing but fools running in government (Federal, Provincial and Municipal) from all parties everywhere you look. Some are just bigger fools than others (you know which way I stand on where I think the biggest fools are). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Bill are the Tea Party protesters resorting to violence? What am I missing? Did I missing the news stories where Tea Party protesters trashed a city? Yes there are protesters of all political stripes, but not all of them resort to violence. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You do realize that there is over one hundred years of oil in Alberta and Saskatchewan (at present day production levels) to power the entire world. Yes eventually it will run out, more than a century from now. Can you honestly sit there with a straight face and tell everyone you know what the world will be like 100+ years from now? Why do you think Canada has a certain clout in the world? Canada has a certain clout in the world because we are an energy producer. Canada does not have a certain amount of influence because there are whiners in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
-
Not only did I lose track of what everyone was protesting, but I think the protesters themselves did not know what they were protesting, they just knew they had to whine about something since that is what they are best at doing. There were so many special interest "I demand my cause be solved right now" protests going on it was laughable. Whatever happened to personal responsibility? Whatever happened to "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". These days it has been replaced with "what has the government done for me lately, whine whine whine where is my cheese". I will ask again, what did these protests/riots solve for the people of Toronto? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Your borders are all wrong. We need a new country alright. But the eastern part of the country would include Saskatchewan and the Western border goes all the way to the Pacific ocean. Except of course it does not include Vancouver. The Chinese already own that part of the world. But what I would give to divorce the people of Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. Please help us make it happen. Please elect a LIEberal who will implement the NEP2. I don't think Ignatieff is the right LIEberal to do this though (as much as I dislike his elitist arrogance, he is smarter than that). But I think Boob Rae or Trudeau JR are just the right type of Leftists / Marxists to bring in the NEP2 that will finally force the West to say enough is enough.
