This may come as a shock, but I don't hate everyone at the CBC. Rex Murphy more often than not offers an honest "no shit" assessment to the current affairs and will speak out against anyone regardless of their politics who is not making sense. Plus I also think Nahlah Ayed is a woman who is not afraid to risk her life traveling to the world's troubled hot spots to report on the various conflicts and very much earns her CBC salary, and then some. Everyone else though at the CBC is pretty much useless (including Don Cherry who has gone senile) ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Fair enough. I will take your word for it. BTW ... the other thread is NOT my thread. I only participated in it saying "Don't trust anyone in the media until you have sought more than one source". So let's leave it at that. If we want to debate the media (which it sounds like we don't need to), we can meet in the other thread. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Here it is. But I don't think you have an open enough mind to accept this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDw5a0_iFBk&feature=related Here is the response from the CBC after they were outed for spreading their propaganda: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apctTk7ovWs&feature=related Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You just don't give up do you? Every time you come here, it's the same thing "It was a conspiracy, the USA purposely killed thousands of their own citizens". Should I direct you to the URL of the Communist Broadcasting Corporation's website? Otherwise known as Canada's beloved publicly funded CBC, the same Leftist media organization I exposed yesterday for their creative news editing all to serve up their propaganda to their loyal lemmings. There you will be in good company of "I hate America Canadians" who will lap up everything you have to say as the absolute truth. You know in the years that it has taken to clean up ground zero, isn't it interesting how the workers never found debris consistent with what one would find in a controlled building demolition. No wiring, no crushed detonators, no evidence of chemical explosives. I guess the thousands of workers who cleaned up ground zero (some of whom might have had family members who died on that day) were also in on this great conspiracy of yours. Isn't it amazing after all these years not one of the people in on your great conspiracy came out and talked. Has it ever occurred to you that people don't engage in "reasonable discussions" with you because they don't view you as someone who can even reason with logic? Keep peddling your conspiracy theories, but you will have more agreements if you actually migrated to websites where hard core "I hate America" Leftists are gathering today to spew their pure unadulterated hatred. Do you feel more secure now than you did pre-9/11 ?

It's too late to change this, but we could have avoided many of the world's problems if the Western nations stayed out of Muslim countries and if Muslims stayed away from Western countries. It is pretty evident that there is a major clash of cultures going on these days. The Western nations could leave Muslim countries right now if they wanted to (I doubt they will), but Europe and North America have opened the door to the world with their Liberal immigration policies and the Muslims are pouring into our respective countries extremely fast. Plus seeing as Muslims breed faster than Western families breed, how long before they breed Western cultures out of existence. My local grocery store is an interesting place to gauge the community. In the last 20-30 years my local community (in the city I call home) has been dominated by Chinese immigrants with Caucasians not too far behind (BTW I do NOT live in Chinatown). The Chinese are still the dominate culture here, but every week more and more Muslims are showing up. This is in no ways supposed to come off as "one race is better than the other" post. I know the Chinese are very intelligent people, they are hard workers and very family oriented. But the Chinese (not all of them of course) want nothing to do with you if you are not Chinese and how long will it be before the local Muslims grow in sufficient numbers (thanks to immigration and their superior breeding trends) before they gain enough political power to the point where they start demanding that everyone adopt their way of life. I don't think it will happen in my life time, but it will be interesting to see the rising Chinese and the rising Muslims of this world and how they deal with each other. Caucasians? LOL ... we are doomed. Our days of dominating the planet are coming to an end. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Agnostic ... the universe and it's origins are beyond my comprehension to know definitively whether or not there is or is not a God looking over us. But I am pretty confident that if there is a God, it's nothing remotely close to the man made God the various religions of this world claim it to be. Is there anybody out there? Anybody? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Darius asked for hard evidence (which I provided) of a major media organization who has purposely edited something in order to portray a story completely false of what was actually said in the news conference for it's own political propaganda purposes. Is there anybody out there? Bueller? What is the moral to all of this? Do NOT trust only one single news source, as a source who is telling the complete truth. Do not trust what only Fox News is saying without checking other sources. Do not trust MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC and whatever you do, do not trust the "Communist Broadcasting Corporation" (otherwise known as the CBC) to give you anything other than the agenda they wish to pursue. The media has started a culture war and it is so obvious what they are trying to do if people would only open up their eyes and take off their partisan blinders. The media is not your friend. The media is out to manipulate you. Seek numerous sources before you formulate an independent opinion on a given news topic. Now with all that said ... I don't always agree with everything Jon Stewart says or does, but he is a funny guy who more often than not provides an entertaining view of the world's events. Don't trust everything the comedian is telling you, but have a good laugh with him as he slams the people who are trying to manipulate you. And once more, Jon Stewart was slamming more than just Fox News. The title to this thread is misleading. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I have a sample for you on how our Leftist CBC (you know the publicly funded "Communist Broadcasting Corporation" up here in Canuckistan) careful edits select words taken from a press conference and repackages them as a completely different story on their nightly news broadcast. Do you have an open enough mind to watch this? or do you still believe only Fox doctors it's news editing? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDw5a0_iFBk&feature=related and here is the rebuttal from the CBC once they were outed for their bias editing propaganda. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apctTk7ovWs&feature=related Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

This thread should NOT be about the messiah, since the personal debt problems of individuals started way before the chosen savior came to us to save the world. But one does have to laugh at ObamaSpendORama to a certain degree. He makes GWB look like a fiscal conservative. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

Yes the bare bones basics of personal finance are contain with the knowledge of how to do grade 4 math. But I speak of a broader spectrum. You know knowledge of how income, expenses, taxes, debt and various investment vehicles effect one's balance sheet. The basics can still be taught to the children by their parents. Instead of giving a child just an allowance, how about giving them an allowance which is taxed by the parent and have further household expenses deducted showing the child it takes money to keep a roof over your head and food on the table. Then if the child wants to buy some candy or some toy with what is left over from their taxes and household expenses, teach them that they can buy it now with credit, but show them how it will effect future allowance payments by still taxing them the same amount, but giving them less because they have debt which needs to be paid back. Finally, teach them to invest some of their allowance which lowers their taxes. But (LOL this is the controversial side of it all) occasionally take away some of their investment teaching them that not all investments are safe and that one should seriously consider "can you afford to lose 100% of a given investment" before you make it. Start slow and work your way up with your children teaching them these important life skills and maybe we would have a generation of young adults who are not relying on the government to get them through life. But I forget, it is so much easier to park your rear end in front of the TV or the computer instead of parents teaching their children how to be proactive good personal money managers preparing them for the important early adult years as opposed to being dependent on the bankrupt nanny state right out of the gate. Monkey see, monkey do. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

Personal finance is one of the most important skills a person will use in their lifetime. But why is it that this extremely important skill is not taught to High School kids? It's probably not taught because the teachers themselves are clueless to this topic. Unless the parents instill this ever so important skill to their kids from an early age (which they should be doing), when these kids grow up and leave home for University (or leave home for whatever else) they have no concept as to what is good debt, what is bad debt and how it all should be managed. We live in a "I want it now, how much will my payment be?" society versus "I want it, I will save for it and once I have saved enough money for it, I will buy it". I am as guilty as the next person. Two years ago I purchased my German made 911 sports car. At the time I asked myself, can I wait the two years to save up the money? and I said fuck it I bought it on credit. Of course this is my only debt (I am lucky enough that over the years I paid off my mortgage in full and have no debt except for my car). Anyway, society's parents have failed their children in regard to personal finance, because somewhere down the line in the last 20-40 years parents stopped being good parents in preparing their children for the world. Monkey see, monkey do. I want it now ... how much will my payments be? But I guess having multiple Liberal Art History degrees and a student debt of 100k is much more important than knowing the difference between debt and a deficit. Society is heading downhill real fast and it all can be traced to poor parenting. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

Yes Sean Hannity is a piece of shit, but I do not know why your title of this thread focuses exclusively on Fox? Seems to me Mr Stewart was laying into MSNBC, CNN and FOX all at the same time for their selective use of video editing (which the Daily Show was also doing). Of course Jon Stewart is a comedian, so he can get away with most of his antics. But I do agree with him on many aspects. They all suck!!! Every last one of them. Republicans suck ass. Democrats suck ass. Fox News sucks, MSNBC sucks and yes CNN sucks. As much as Canadian politics sucks (believe me we have some real losers from all sides up here in Canuckistan), the USA takes the cake when it comes to partisan bullshit. Now who has some cheese to go along with all my whining about how everyone sucks ass. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Your pals in Crappywood have been creating nothing but garbage for the last 10-20 years. TV these days is pure junk and your movies are no different. But you know the saying "Don't forget to check your brain at the door when you head to the movies". So are you planning on doing us any more favors soon? You know like going out on strike? Please do ... the less crap coming out of the CA entertainment world the better. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Newsflash to the rather green moderator. I have never belonged to a union, I have never felt the need to be in one and I highly doubt I will ever join one. You know some people can operate negotiating with business as independents and some people don't need the MOB mentality of a union to get ahead in life. Unions promote mediocre behavior at best!!! Why do people continue to incorrectly use the word "deficit"? I would have thought you would know the difference between a "deficit" and "debt". If the Feds cut their spending below their income levels, there will be no deficit and then the Feds can start paying down their debt. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Huh? BO just announced yesterday that he will be spending another $50 billion dollars on top of what he is already spending. Unions promote mediocre behavior at best, but more often than not, they just promote a sense of self entitlement that actually delivers a sub-par productivity level. I laugh whenever I encounter city workers out there on some project. You get a dozen unionized workers standing around some job site while one person works, each waiting their turn to do some small specialized task. If you want to see why so much money is wasted on public projects, one only needs to see how these city union workers operate. Unions are never about getting a task done in an efficient manner, no unions are all about "how much can we suck out of the operation while doing the bare minimum of work". There is so much that is wrong these days with how the western world operates (unions can not be blamed for all of society's issues), but unions do continue their cancerous practices that definitely do not help the situation. Unions promote mediocre behavior at best!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You have the right not to do anything and let the criminal proceed to continue their crime spree while you exchange Hugs and Teddy Bears with each other. However when someone is breaking into your home and you happen to be there, what are the chances that an encounter will not lead to some sort of conflict? You don't know how you or the criminal will react until you find yourselves in that scenario. We should be allowed to have the choice of protecting ourselves just as we should be allowed the choice to just do nothing and be a victim of whatever the criminal wants to do to us. The difference here is I am advocating giving people choices. Where do you stand? Do you feel people should not be allowed to protect themselves when criminals want to prey on us? Without a doubt Rugby is a tough sport and you need to be in excellent shape to play it. But football tackles and rugby tackles are completely different techniques. In football you want to get the guy down on the ground as soon as possible and there are often big collisions involved in football. In rugby, the goal isn't to get the guy down ASAP, but the goal is to stand him up, stopping forward momentum and getting your other players in on a ruck. When I was younger I played 4 years of football and 4 years of rugby. In my 4 years of rugby, not once did I ever come out of a game not bruised and battered. But I never suffered anything serious. In football I managed to get through 4 years with virtually no injuries until the last game I played when after an interception I chose to cut in towards the field to possibly score a TD (versus just head out of bounds) and I was pile drived into the ground doing a severe number on my left shoulder. This injury immediately ended my football and rugby careers. Both sports are tough physical sports. Football is harder on knees, concussions and broken bones where as rugby doesn't have as many severe injuries. It just allows you do donate blood more often.
