What IS the deal with the Tea Party and signs?
CanuckInUSA replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
I miss so much about Colorado. I miss their fantastic weather, the ability to skydive 12 months a year, I miss the friends I had there etc, etc, etc. But believe it or not, I am better off "economically" up here in Oilberta. Presently I am not in the patch (not always the easiest club to crack) but there are many benefits to the patch that I get to enjoy here. Oh and while she will remain anonymous, there is an attractive smart woman known here at DZ.COM who has offered to marry me in the past to allow me back in (not sure if the offer still stands with her), but there was no love. I will not marry anyone for the sake of a Green Card. Plus wherever did people get the impression I could not return to the USA. All I need to do is find another job eligible under the TN-1 work visa and as long as INS does not reject me, I am back. But it is a temporary visa and presently not worth pursuing. What IS the deal with the Tea Party and signs?

I sensed you were joking, but I replied anyway just to be safe. You first reaction should not be to just raise taxes because we know the mere mention of raising taxes will drive votes away (unless of course it is a hidden tax, you know the infamous "service fee"). No your first reaction to all of this racism should be "How much public money can I get away with spending"? Never met a politician who didn't like spending money. What IS the deal with the Tea Party and signs?

There is no hate. I am not at war with them. I know they are smart, know they are hard workers and know they are family oriented. It's just that I am not part of their family, so for the most part I am not welcomed into their world. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
What IS the deal with the Tea Party and signs?

I am just going on precedence. The US has a history of invading. China for the most part keeps it's military within it's borders. But China has already invaded Canada. My community is dominated by the Chinese (walk around my local grocery store and 10 of 20 people are Chinese, about 6-7 of 20 are caucasian and the remaining 3-4 of 20 are some other race). China has the numbers ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
What IS the deal with the Tea Party and signs?
CanuckInUSA replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
Disagree. It's time we move the US border a few miles north. You have the military to do it. The US has proven to the world that they are 2nd to none when it comes to invading countries. But they really suck when it comes to occupying them. However if the USA ever wanted to end this horrible occupation streak of theirs all they need to do is look north. Huge segments of the population have voluntarily disarmed themselves and those who are armed, tend to not hate the USA. Socially I can't see a merger ever happening. But we supposedly have been economically linked for a while now. Unfortunately not everyone is knowledgeable and/or willing to accept these close economic ties. BTW I am sure Washington DC would never let this happen, but there is no shortage of people from Alberta, Saskatchewan, interior BC, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and Washington State who would love to leave Canada and the USA and form their own union. What IS the deal with the Tea Party and signs?
CanuckInUSA replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
You need us, just as much as we need you. The US/Canadian economies are linked. We depend on each other. Eliminate one and the other suffers big time. It is time America realized just how much of Canada's raw resources that it consumes. There is a lot that is wrong with Republican politics. But one area where Republicans do things right is being reasonably honest when it comes to trade. Both Republicans and Democrats know how important Canada's raw resources are to the USA. But Republicans don't try to obfuscate the importance of this trade. Democrats are the ultimate hypocrites when it comes to trade. Democrats scream protectionist rhetoric to their lemmings. But internally Democrats know they would be committing economic suicide if they actually went through with all of their bullshit. Take Nancy Pelosi as an example. A few weeks ago she is screaming how horrible the Alberta/Saskatchewan Oil Sands are, yet when she comes up here to meet our leaders, it is business as usual. Pelosi is only trying to win votes in socialist San Francisco. Face it Nancy, you know you need our resources and while we may not be the cleanest people on this planet, the Oil Sands only emits a fraction of the green house gases than the US coal industry does. How about telling the truth to your lemmings for a change Nancy? It is time that people on both sides of the border realize how dependent we are on trade with each other. Socially I can never see us merging, but we must continue our long strong historic trade with each other and avoid all of the protectionist rhetoric. So what is the solution? Keep spending? or start trimming the fat? There is a story in our media today that cuts are coming to our bloated Federal civil servants and naturally they are going ape shit over the matter. How does one break the cycle of "I am entitled to my entitlements" when generation after generation are brought up thinking that they are entitled to cushy "for life" government jobs. None of this crap is sustainable ... you can keep putting on weight every year and not expect to find yourself in trouble down the road. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I do know my facts. Your largest trading partner is Canada. Shit click on your wikipedia link and it shows that the USA trades more with Canada than any other country. You are only trying to obfuscate for the sake of making yourself out to be some supreme LIEberal intellect. Oh the arrogance of a LIEberal strikes again. You know I hope Canada and the USA remain good partners. But with protectionist morons like the Democrats in power this becomes harder and harder. How many raw resources do you get from your beloved EU? Do you think your country can survive without these resources? The USA is addicted to consuming resources. Keep building your protectionist walls and before you know it we will stop sending you these resources. Of course then you will send in your military and conquer us (yes it would be easy to do since the elitist LIEberals up here in Canuckistan feel that everyone should be disarmed). But I digress ... despite what you think, Canada is your largest trading partner and the Canada/US economies are closely linked and dependent on each other. If you choose to sever these long economic ties, you are free to do so. China will still buy from us, we are not 100% dependent on you (though you are the more logical trading partner). Hmmm ... so only Americans are allowed to participate in these discussions? This goes contrary to everything the Head Honcho has ever said concerning his website. If I am not mistaken the Head Honcho is South African and this website is actually hosted on servers located in Canada? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I am glad I don't have to choose between these two. But if I did, here is how my ballot would look like: [_] Christine O'Donnell [_] Chris Coons [X] None of the above Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

How old do you think I am? Do you think I am some teenager? Tell me something I don't already know. The USA spends far too much on it's military and Canada relies far too much on the USA for it's defense. Just curious ... how much do you really know about us? I know Amazon knows this, but do you? A Conservative in Canada is kind of like a Democrat in the USA. If you want to talk to Canada about pulling it's own weight for it's defense spending you really need to be talking to the Canadian Liberals (and their coalition allies the Bloc Quebecois and the NDP). But here is a heads up for you. Many of them (not all) absolutely hate your guts. The Canadian Conservatives are trying to upgrade our military and presently it is costing them big time in our Liberal media. There is a lot of political posturing going on up here right now and our politics are almost as much as a joke as yours are. But you guys do take the cake. You are obtuse for saying this. Either that or you are a partisan hack. Oh wait, my mistake. I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you are NOT obtuse because we all know you are one of the biggest partisans on this site. The only rich people I have issues with are those sitting at the top of the food chain at the various Central Banks around the globe. Other than that, why should I care how much money someone has. It is their money, not mine. I do not deserve anything that I did not work for. Unlike leftists, I don't think I am entitled to anything outside of a fair chance to live my life as I choose (as long as I don't harm others). As far as the rich owning politicians, well just see what was written in the first paragraph. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

The US economy and the Canadian economy are linked. We are each other's largest trading partners and we supply you with most of the natural resources you consume. You can't be that obtuse to think what goes on in the USA does not effect those of us who call Canuckistan home. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I agree that your odds of fending off the criminal are greatly improved when you are armed. But if they happen to be a good aim and they get the first shot off, you are definitely not going to be safe. Don't get me wrong, my position on guns have changed over the years. I am onside in your right to protect yourself. But being armed does not automatically make you safer. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You know what is even more crazy, how you continue to ignore the out of control spending of governments. Yes we must pay taxes for our services, but things have gotten so out of control in the last 50 years. We would not need to worry about sicking the tax boogie man on the hated rich people if governments actually spent the same amount as they took in. America could still be the model "free market society" in the world if American governments didn't spend so much money (yes this includes military spending). Instead of sicking the boogie man on the hated rich, why don't you ask politicians to start balancing their books and paying off their debts. I know this is a pipe dream, society has gone past the point of no return ... but we would all have more money in our pockets if we weren't taxed so much and well why are we taxed so much? Could it be because governments spend too much money? You have no future in the "Tea Party" movement. but I am sure you will find a home with the Marxists. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

They are fooling themselves if they think being armed makes them safer. What being armed does do, is level the playing field and making it harder for them to be preyed upon by the criminal. But they are not safer (sorry John). I can't speak for you, but I sure as heck don't want to live in a society where I am not allowed to defend myself. But ironically I do. I live in a country where I am not allowed to defend myself. I live in a country that wants me to bend over backwards and take it up the ass from the criminal who wants to prey on me. I have been on the wrong side all these years. I should be a criminal. Where I live criminals have more rights than law abiding citizens do. Where I live the police need a warrant to raid the home of a suspected criminal, but the same police are allowed to enter a home anytime they want no warrant needed if I happened to have been stupid enough to have registered a firearm with the government. It is ass backwards up here. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

One example of a group of people who are legally allowed to live in the USA but are not allowed to work are spouses (as well as their children) of people who have work visas, a work visa such as the NAFTA TN-1. The person holding the work visa is allowed to work (obviously), but their spouse and their children are not allowed to work. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

If the teacher was my parent, yes I will thank my teacher. It was my parents who took me aside at a young age and ensured that I knew how to read and write. It wasn't always fun as some aspect of their education was made to seem more like work, but their efforts did pay off. Then they sent me off to an institution known as the public school system for many years which helped enhance my knowledge of reading and writing. But it was not some unionized teacher who laid the foundation for my literacy. It was my parents. He/she who has never made a spelling/grammar mistake in their entire life is allowed to criticize the mistakes made by others. For the rest of us mortals, we are nothing more than hypocrites when we focus on spelling errors on items when spelling is not the most important aspect. Oh and Liberals do not have a monopoly on being educated. Contrary to their myths, many conservative oriented people have been educated as well. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I voted GWB ... but there is still plenty of time for Obama to continue his uncontrolled spending which could change my opinion down the road some time in the not too distant future. But at least for now, GWB still takes the cake for being an absolute idiot and the worst I have seen in my life time. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Did you tell them that you were the "Copy n' Paste" nazi and that you disapproved of their message and disapproved that it was not original material? So much for freedom of speech when the "Copy n' Paste" nazi sees something you wrote that they do not like. When this occurs, you know a camera will be produced, a picture will be taken and you will be ridiculed on the internet. Don't you have better things to do with your time? What's next? Did you Tweet about this? Is it on your Facebook page yet? What are you? 13 years old? What a absolutely ridiculous thread ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
I don't think the hockey mom should be given the opportunity to be prez in 2012 just as much as I don't think the Hollywood President should ever have been elected prez in the first place. But I am record in saying that I think the "President of the USA" is nothing more than a puppet. So does it really matter if the hockey mom or the former community organizer is prez? Too bad "None of the Above" is never found on the ballot. That is my favorite candidate. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
