  1. In Canada's largest province (Ontario) 1 in every 13 people who draws breath and has a heart beat (this included senior citizens and children) works for the Ontario Provincial Government with many more people working for the Federal Government and respective Municipal Governments. Each one of these public sector workers demands a job for life (many of them make over 100k a year) and they all demand full pensions. It is simply unsustainable. But with so many of them working for the government is there any wonder why Left leaning political parties are almost always in power. The motto of these public sector workers here is "I am entitled to my entitlements". They pass this entitlement on to the next generation and make sure that only people who think like themselves are ever hired into these public service sectors. 2. I don't think the guy is a pussy. But I can see the catch-22 scenario for all the politically correct peeps who no doubt would slam this guy since that is all they know how to do. If the girl wants to wrestle against male opponents, let her wrestle. If she is good enough to beat them, she is good enough to beat them. If she is not good enough, oh well. Despite what the PC peeps think, in sports ... for every winner there is one or more losers. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  4. I didn't know McPuke's was in the poutine business. I can't speak about Bolduc, but if someone wants authentic poutine while in Montreal, one really needs to swing by a LaFleurs. Heck while you are at it you can grease up some of the moving parts of your car with whatever grease is left over that you don't want to consume from your tasty Lafleur's poutine snack. 5. The majority of the North American car culture is geared towards driving mid size to large understeery front wheel drive automatic transmissions on big open predominately straight roads. To the car makers it is about "what is the least amount of trouble people can get themselves into while driving". People are too busy being distracted and are not doing what they are supposed to do, which is to drive. Keeping a car on the road is about balance, keeping all four tires on the pavement. When you brake weight is shift to the front, when accelerate weight is shifted to the rear. When you corner weight is shifted laterally and some traction will be lost. Unfortunately people are not taught these fundamentals and they get themselves into trouble because they expect the car to do all the work for them. If they only had some knowledge about what a car does while cornering maybe they would not have lost control when they took that last turn too fast (god I love when a lesser powerful car passes a more powerful car in the twisties). Excessive speeding on public roads is wrong, bad and should not be done. But speed by itself is not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is that squishy object between everyone's ears and not using this squishy thing in conjunction with their eyes, ears and physical sensations the car gives you. Wait a second, you were right. Many (not all) modern cars are too floaty and do not give the driver proper feedback. I own two vehicles. A 1999 Jeep Wrangler and when you are motoring at 75 mph (125 kph) it feels fast (they must have used a Jeep when they came up with speed limits because it just feels right and you do not want to be going any faster). I also own a 1997 Porsche 911 and 75 mph is not that fast (it only starts to feel fast when you get her up over 120 mph or 200 kph). But even at 45 mph in the Porsche I can feel exactly what the car is doing in conjunction to the grip my tires have with the pavement (my Porsche 911 is a street legal car engineered from years of racing). Yes there are two problems with speeding. Number one is the person is often not using their brain. But the other problem with many (not all) modern cars are too floating and do not give the driver proper feedback as to how balanced the car is. There would be less accidents if car makers starting making cars feel fast at slower speeds. What is the difference between understeering and oversteering? That is easy. When you understeer you get to see the tree you are about to smack. When you oversteer, you don't see it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. If she likes to drive fast, she needs to visit a race track and take the BMW out for some DE track days. Trust me she will never view driving fast on the public roads the same way again. Once someone gets to drive a car at their limits on a race track, they will realize driving fast on the public roads is silly and sometimes very dumb. Technically I still speed on the public roads. But going 120-130 kph in a 110 kph zone is not fast. Going 220+ kph and in the space of 400 feet braking hard to make a turn at 140 kph ... now that is where the action is at. 7. She will be visiting in late March so I am not so sure the skiing will be all that good. But you left out the two best mountains in the Eastern Townships. Sutton and Owls Head. At least they were good when I was growing up in La Belle Province. But I left 20 years ago and never looked back, so who knows what happened to Sutton and Owls Head. Grey Rocks (a small resort very close to Tremblant) used to make tons of snow and had some great spring mogul skiing. It's a small resort, but the moguls were some of Quebec's best. But even if the skiing is not good, if one wants to do some sight seeing out of the city, maybe do lunch. The scenery in the Laurentians in the Tremblant area is nice and maybe the crowds won't be bad in late March. It all depends on how much snow is still around huh? She will have to visit Old Montreal. That is a no-brainer. Do NOT pass through Montreal without visiting the old cobble stone streets. Schwartz's Deli haha long time since I visited that shop. Small but very iconic in the city. Ste Anne-de-Bellevue on the extreme West Island is quaint. I drive through Senneville is also nice. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. When the money managers want to make some money, they position themselves to go long, the market all of a sudden becomes bullish, the money managers make tons of money. Then they decide it is time to make some more money. So once again they position themselves this time to go short, the market turns to the bears and the money managers make more money. Repeat as necessary. What happens on Wall Street and what happens on Main Street are two completely different things. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  10. I kinda knew all along that the unrest in the middle east has always been a plot of oil capitalists in Canada. They pretty much just give away nanothermite technology to anyone that asks. South Park was right. Blame Canada!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. There is a large pipeline that's still in use. Obviously Europe and much of North America would like to see this pipeline continue to function. An unstable Egypt is in nobody's better interest. Not Europe's, not North America's, not the Saudis. Heck not even the Chinese who rely on Europe and North America to consume it's goods. Of course turmoil would locally help us here in Oilberta (contrary to what people think Alberta is America's largest supplier of oil). But while turmoil in Egypt may help boost the price of oil making Oilberta even more money, turmoil in the world economy is not what anyone should be asking for. 12. A little over dramatic I would say. Granted I am NOT American (there must be something in your water), but this North American woke up and found neither one of your scenarios to be true. Yes people in Egypt are still unhappy, but no Mubarak is not dead nor has he committed mass murder as you alleged that he would. Are you a little upset that your messiah, savior of the world was caught with his foot in his mouth yesterday? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  14. Religious people tend to think of only humanity when it comes to life on this planet. I am sure sometime down the road humanity will become extinct. It could be soon (some global nuclear war could do the trick), it could be thousands of years from now, or it could be in the millions of years. But life on this planet has been evolving for billions of years and life will continue to evolve for billions more. The only "End Times" are when that great big ball in the sky 93 million miles away from us burns up and that won't be happening for billions and billions of years from now. If we are alone in the universe (as many religious people claim), it is an awful waste of space. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. I neglected to read the last line of your post and I was talking about the wrong resource. LOL Water will be a problem in some parts of the world (it could suck to be in the southwest of the USA in the future). But there is a lot of water still up here in the frozen tundra called Canuckistan. Global Warming (if it ever does happen) will be good for Canada. Lot's of resources, lot's of open space. Of course the resources and open space will be gobbled up if the world decided to relocate here. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. I wasn't walking the earth yet during WWII, but something tells me the world was in a much bigger mess from 1939 to 1945 and "Biblical of End Times" did not happen then. The only difference is now we are bombarded with the media's "Be afraid, be very afraid" agenda 24/7. Check it out, yesterday the CBC was calling the snow storm that is hitting parts of North America as "Snowpocalypse - a possible life ending storm of storms" yesterday. http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2011/02/01/us-winter-storm.html just a little media sensationalism wouldn't you say? 18. Santa Claus? maybe the Easter Bunny? How about the unicorns? Sorry I just do not understand why people put so much faith in politicians. All they do is lie to gain power. Once in power they do the exact opposite of what they said they would do. It does not matter if they are a Liberal or a Conservative. It is the same crap. Anarchy is not the answer. But it is laughable how people can criticize one guy for doing something while they turn a partisan blind eye when their messiah savior of the world does the same thing as their ever so hated opponent. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. The difference is, Rhys thinks he can stop the Bilderberg Group. But you know one of the differences between you and I? I know Obama is lying sack of shit just as GWB was a lying sack of shit, You still think Obama is the messiah savior of the world. Time to put your ubber partisan crap aside for a moment and wake up and smell the coffee. Democracy is a myth. It does not exist. Obama is not the messiah, Obama was not sent to us to save the world. Obama is nothing more than a junior community organizer with no leadership experience. How is it that a man who has never lead anything in his entire life can all of a sudden become the prez? Take his teleprompter away and he is almost as dumb as GWB was. Obama is the Hollywood president. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. People don't actually think democracy is real do they? Obama, like GWB, like Clinton, like Bush SR, like Reagan, like Carter, like Ford, like Nixon, like Johnson, like JFK, etc, etc, etc is nothing more than a puppet. Obama is nothing more than a politician who in this case was created by Hollywood who promised the world knowing damn well he wouldn't deliver squat. Up here north of the border the "Liberal Party of Canada" does nothing but promise socialist utopia to their loyal lemmings, but once in power they never do anything towards fulfilling all of the promises they made. Once again democracy does not exist. Obama is nothing more than a puppet. He knew there was not a hope in hell he would close Gitmo. The real people of power are not named Obama, Bush, Clinton or Kennedy. No the real people of power go by the names of Rockefeller and Rothschild, etc, etc, etc. People need to stop thinking politicians actually care. Politicians are nothing but power hungry self serving maggots. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. I have an example of what I think is media manipulation (maybe you disagree with me). On the evening news a few nights ago the mainstream media decided to air short a video clip from an opposition politician. Seems fine and dandy, boy that opposition politician sure seems smart, maybe I should vote for him. But hold in a second ... is this what the politician actual said? Or did the media edit out a 2 second portion of what the politician said? How could we know what the politician said. Unless we are there in person to hear what was said, we can only go by what the media wants us to know. So what happens when the media purposely edit clips out from the middle of a speech and then presents this as news? You be the judge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Egy2POCd8tM So is this a clear case of media manipulation? Can we trust what the media is telling us? What happens when the media has an agenda to pursue? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  23. In three months from now I will be losing my job. LOL ... I was supposed to lose it back in the Spring of 2010, but I kept on getting extended. But the end is near, soon I will be an unemployed bum. Fortunately I have been given plenty of warning and I have controlled my spending, reduced debt and saved some money for my pending rainy days. Anyway, in all this time during my employment I was forced by the government to pay into their mandatory "Employment Insurance" program. There will be a waiting period from when I finally lose my job and whenever the severance the company gives me expires until I am eligible to collect "Unemployment Benefits" from the government (and of course if I find a replacement job during this waiting period, then I will not be collecting anything). But I was forced into paying into this government "Employment Insurance" program. There was no opting out, it was mandatory payroll deductions. So while it goes against a lot of what I stand for, you better believe I will collect the payments if I ever become eligible to collect them. You can call me a hypocrite if you want (as I am sure you will). I don't give a shit. If you force me to pay into your nanny state insurance, you better be prepared to pay out if the day ever comes that I become eligible. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. Since when is NOT spending more money that you make propaganda? Good grief. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. Yes of course it was avoidable. Imagine if millions and millions of people lived within their means and did NOT put themselves into the record personal debt they found themselves in. But it is so much easier to blame someone else than it is to blame the people who spent more than they made. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
