  1. The guy sounds like a scum bag. We know money corrupts as there has been no shortage of Wall Street types who have turned to "Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll" to spend some of their money. But when are you going to start a thread about some of the Hollywood scum bags who are doing the exact same thing? How about the multi-millionaire "Gangster Rappers" who exploit women? Or is going after Wall Street while ignoring Hollywood all part of the agenda? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. I was able to forward this video to a friend who speaks some Russian. My friend says the commentary is short on details because it cuts away, but it appears that the TV commentator is flipping Obama the bird because of a military base ... which goes back to what I originally speculated on ... Obama's plans to create a permanent US naval base in Australia. I was under the assumption this new naval base was more to counteract the Chinese influence in the area. But the Russians do have a presence in the Pacific. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. What the fuck are you talking about? More of your complete utter bullshit. Show me exactly where I said this woman was a "throw away" and "that she did not matter". You really have some severe issues. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. Do you have some additional knowledge about what actually happened at this event? I have to fess up I do not have the time today to seek out further news sources that may clarify what happened. If proper evidence is brought forward that the police attacked this woman unprovoked, then yes I will jump on the bandwagon to have the guilty police officer(s) prosecuted. But until actual evidence is made public it is impossible to make a fair judgment. As of last night the few news sources that covered this event were short on details and many were highly partisan. 5. I wish I knew Russian. I am assuming (of course I could be wrong) that she was giving Obama the bird because of Obama's decision to expand America's military presence in the region by opening up a permanent naval base in Australia (I wonder if he will win another Nobel Peace Prize for this) or maybe she was pissed at Obummer for some other reason. 6. Oh yes I see now. Anyway it was a good story. If I am not mistaken he is a rich man these days, but you can't say he never earned it. Kudos for Mr Gardner for never giving up. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. Not sure why you brought this movie up in this thread, but I watched it last night through a $0.99 rental at iTunes and it was good. From what I understand this movie is based on real life events and life kept throwing shit sandwiches at the movie's main character Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith) and Mr Gardner kept on soldier on. Yes it was clear at times Mr Gardner was at or near rock bottom and was clearly frustrated. But he never gave up. I wonder how many of today's generation of entitled "Occupiers" would be able to dig as deep as Mr Gardner did. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. The URL supplied in this thread is short on details. The video associated with the URL shows what happened after the attack. It would be better if there was video of what happened before and during the attack. I have googled "Jennifer Fox of Seattle" and could not come up with much more except that Ms Fox is 19, and claims to be homeless. Most URLs associated with this woman are short on details and some are rather partisan. I thought there was something called "Innocent until proven guilty" (which would apply to both the police as well as Ms Fox in this scenario). Let's not let our political views get in the way of this "Innocent until proven guilty" precedence. If a video was to surface that showed Ms Fox was attacked by the police unjustly then I will support those who say the police should be prosecuted. But without additional evidence it is impossible to pass proper judgment. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. What did you eat and how did you pay your rent for all those years while you were working for free? Sounds like Bill went even further than I did with his free work, but my very first job was not a paid gig. I needed some sort of business experience so coming out of school (back when nickles had pictures of bees on them) I approached a Century 21 Real Estate office and offered to build a software application for them for free that they could use in their internal office. What I gave them was not sophisticated and after leaving them after a few months I wonder if they even used it. But it was just the sort of experience I needed to help myself land my first real job (which by itself was a bit of a joke compared to what I went on to build later in my career). How did I feed myself? The same way I did when I was in school. As far as I was concerned I was still in school when I did this free work. I don't agree with everything Bill has to say on these forums, but from what I have read in this thread, he is spot on 100% correct. People need to stop thinking that they are entitled to a massive salary. You only get the massive salary when you can stand out above everyone else and prove to the company that you are worth the extra compensation. Business is not in business to employ people. That is only a by-product. Business is in business to make money. When they need people to help them make money they will hire them. But if a business can cut x% of their work force and still maintain the same production levels then that is a sign these workers who were cut were not productive. Knock yourselves out on this thread people. I have a task to do today and I am already behind because I came here instead of doing what I needed to do. 10. -20C on Saturday and +5C on Tuesday thanks to some warm Chinook winds coming off of our mountains. The only common denominator between the two days is that the sun is still shinning. It never went away. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. You are correct about one thing, Liberals are confused. I am just not so sure you are correct with that other analogy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. Ron Paul habla Español? No importa. PSOE fue derrotado en las elecciones de hoy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. LOL you sure like to twist things don't you. Where in my post did I say anything about who can and can not protest. All I said was, "if you have some predetermined medical condition, maybe you should think twice about attending some protest event that could turn violent". I never said don't attend. You want to risk being pepper sprayed ... or worse, knock yourself out. These "Occupy" squatters do not represent the 99%. They are either just indoctrinated students of socialist academia who still can not come to grips with reality or they are members of Big Labor who will never accept reality. Life on this planet is not equitable. It never has been and it never will be. Those who believe that life is equitable should not watch this video. It is not a pleasant video. It shows some cruel realities on this planet. Whoever told you life would be easy was clearly lying to you. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. They should probably think twice before they put themselves in harms way at some civil disobedience protest. Cops are not my favorite people, but since when has it ever been wise to resist the police? If you believe in your cause enough where you are willing to put yourself in harms way, then that is a choice you have made for yourself. But if you have some sort of health aliment, maybe you should think twice about attending some event that you know could turn violent. Darwin strikes again Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. Exactly what are they winning? The occupiers do not represent the 99% as they claim they do. These occupiers only represent the supporters of Big Labor as well as represent the indoctrinated students from socialist academia. Are you going to ignore the fact that today Spain rejected the incumbent PSOE for their poor governance these last 8 years. Look all around you, there are plenty of socialist governments that are falling through this funny thing called democracy. So please again what exactly is it that these "Occupy" squatters are winning? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. In the early 1990s I used to play in the Southern Alberta Senior Hockey League. It was a place where many pro-hockey rejects gathered to continue beating on each other for the love of the game. It was the most violent hockey I have ever played in my life. Whenever we played the police's team, you could count on the game being extra dirty. It was basically the real world version of the movie "Slap Shot" but minus the Hollywood theatrics. Without a doubt those cops were dirty MOFOs. However with all that said, the police have an extremely difficult job to do. The politicians are only listening to the public who is saying "Enough already, it is time to clean up this Occupy mess". The police are only operating on the orders coming from above to disband the squatters. I am sorry if you are too partisan to recognize this, but this whole "Occupy" mess was started by a Leftist Anti-Business organization from Vancouver BC and has the backing of Big Labor, and the gullible students from socialist academia as a way to deflect blame away from the poor job Obama has done on the economy. Where is the Left's outrage at the extreme wealth that Hollywood possesses? How come these same Labor Unions are not backing "Occupy Hollywood" movements? Why the double standard? These "Occupy" squatters do NOT represent the 99%. They represent only those who back Big Labor and the gullible already indoctrinated students of socialist academia. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. With Oregon's and Oklahoma's losses yesterday it is interesting how the top three teams in the nation now belong not only to the SEC, but more importantly to the SEC West. What happens if Arkansas was to beat LSU while Alabama wins against Auburn? That would leave all three teams at 11-1 overall and all three teams at 7-1 in the SEC. Who gets the nod into the SEC championship game? and then having to play an extra game could destroy a National Championship bid if they were to lose the SEC Championship game. One thing I could never understand was why some conferences play the extra conference championship games while other conferences don't play these games. NCAA has always been confusing when it comes to selecting a champion, but I am not sure a playoff system would even work in this scenario where three teams from one division in a conference could possibly be tied at the end of the regular season. Of course LSU could make things easier if they just beat Arkansas and then beat Georgia or South Carolina in the SEC Championship game. Then at least one of the teams in the National Championship final would be a no brainer. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. Spaniards went to the polls today to choose a leader they hope can guide the country out of its deep economic crisis. Opposition conservative leader Mariano Rajoy of the Popular Party is widely expected to be elected as the next Prime Minister defeating the incumbent government, the "Partido Socialista Obrero Español" (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party), which would make Spain the latest country to lose a government over the European debt crisis. Even with the anticipated new government, there still will not be any immediate relief for Spain's overall 21.5% unemployment rate, and a 45% rate of unemployment for young people. But the days of massive unchecked government spending and loose debt are just not sustainable. http://www.cnn.com/2011/11/20/world/europe/spain-election/index.html?hpt=wo_c2 http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2011/11/20/spain-votes-sunday.html All I can say is good luck to the Spanish people. I hope you can get your house in order and attract businesses back to your country to help with your terrible unemployment rates. Of course while the Spanish people reject their present socialist government, expect plenty of rhetoric to surface here about how Big Government Anti-Business Socialism is the only way. 23. Of course the employers could do a better job to keep their people engaged in the business. Some do this, others don't. But a bout of unemployment where the person has difficulty finding an equivalent replacement job will solve their complacency towards their present employment situation. Not saying people should be slaves to their employer, just saying that a dose of reality can cure their complacency. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  25. A Toronto school has banned all hard balls while children are on school property. A letter issued from the administration at Earl Beatty Jr. and Sr. Public School states that kids can’t bring or play with any kind of hard ball - i.e. soccer balls, footballs, volleyballs or tennis balls. "Any balls brought will be confiscated and may be retrieved by parents from the office. The only kind of ball allowed will be nerf balls or sponge balls." http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/the-hot-button/safe-or-extreme-toronto-school-bans-hard-balls/article2237973/ The nanny state strikes again.
